The gentle spring breeze blew past Zebedee, innumerable petals from the apple blossoms dancing through the air. He smiled, looking skywards, letting the remnants of the flowers tumble over him. A lot of bad things had happened recently. Betrayals, murders, outright battles… There was no shortage of bad news. That didn’t matter right now. He had been here a long time, and he found himself coping naturally with the dramatic way that life unfolded in this noble land.
Zebedee took a few steps forwards, and turned to face the gnarled apple tree that he had sat under so many years ago, when he had first met Cassandra… She had went away, off to do her own thing. Same with Hayato, and Karine, and many other dear friends of his. His grin grew smaller as he took on a distant look, remembering the times they had together. Those days were good.
Raising his hand, he squared up the tree with an imaginary rectangle on the green, green grass, being sure to avoid a large pit that was off to the side. The pit had history, too. Zebedee gave a bit of an embarrassed grunt, remembering the occasion. That must have been almost six and half years ago… Maybe more? He didn’t age as quickly as others did, but his memory was still human.
The holy warrior jerked his left hand, a fine white blanket appearing spread beneath the rough-barked boughs. Another twitch stapled it to the ground with gravity anchors, keeping it from getting blown away by the potent gusts of wind that kept coming up. He had bought it for this occasion, a bit of a party of sorts, one could say. Well, not a party. A picnic for him, and whoever decided to show up. He had written a few letters, and mailed them out, but had also encouraged people to invite friends and those he may have forgotten. Another gesture produced a rather cliché looking, albeit considerably large, picnic basket, stuffed to the brim with all manner of goodies stored away in plastic tubs. He had packed everything he would need, as far as he knew. Roast chicken, seasoned tofu, three different kinds of pudding, a dozen donuts, and many more treats awaited in the basket. Hopefully that would be enough for everybody.
With a yawn, Zebedee threw himself back upon the remarkably soft turf. He closed his eyes, feeling the radiance of the sun upon his face, and continued his line of thought. Those days… were good. These days? Even better.
OOC: 8,000 posts, and coming up on eight years. Thanks for the ride, guys. Each and every one of you has contributed to this experience, some of you a little, some of you a lot, but all of you in a way that nobody else could. I’ve been going to these boards since I wasn’t even a teenager, and I plan on staying with this great community for many years to come. Hopefully, I’ll have the company of all of my friends for many a year as well.

OOC: Well... Ender's wandered off. And he's my only party animal. Put some alcohol out, maybe you can lure Rie to the party. Or maybe Nick can wander by. Vieve? Hmm... Someone decide this for me. Oh I know! Cobra!

Four people appeared near Lee; well, three people and an andalite. Sly spun the dial on his watch and looked over at his friend.
<A day of rest sounds like a wonderful idea.> Sly said as he walked over to Lee. Merlin, Rick, and Mia were each holding a cooler. They sat them down near the picnic basket but as Rick moved over near Zebedee he whispered.
“Don’t eat what’s in the cooler I was holding. Dad made it.” Rick took up a position near the tree and was shortly joined by Mia. Merlin sat near the cooler and thumbed through the contents of the basket, he let out a sigh of relief and took off his pointed blue hat. He sat it next to him then laid back on the grass.
Sly was tasting the grass at his feet, <Somewhat dry but the after taste is quite refreshing. So, who else is joining us today?>

Zebedee's smile grew as he sensed the others drawing near. In a flash, he was on his feet, the air around him sparking slightly with traces of light flickering through his aura. He nodded at Sly's comment.
"I figured I kinda owed all of you. Not in a bad way, just like you all deserved a little something special." He leaned back against the apple tree, feeling its rough texture through his shirt, against his back.
"I'll give it a try anyways... Unless it was one of his attempts at "recreating" some other specie's recipes again. I'm still a little shaken by that...Casserole... he gave to us when I moved back in." Zebedee muttered back to Rick, keeping his voice confidential.
"Eh, whoever feels like it, I guess. I've got three more baskets queued up in my house, so I doubt that we'll have any shortage of food. Natalie said that Thyra and her would be running a little late, but they'd show up..." Zebedee closed his eyes, trying to remember the time. "Well, they'll be here in fifteen, twenty minutes."

OOC: Wow. Can you find them? Are the threads from the old boards archived somewhere? I hardly remember them at all. BIC: From the other side of the apple tree, the slender elf hesitated and wondered again if the invitation she'd received hadn't been misaddressed. The group before her were all strangers with countenances that hung only vaguely in her memory, if at all; they all seemed to be well acquainted with one another. But something had brought her here today, and at the very least, she wanted to determine what it was. She inhaled deeply, brushed an apple blossom out of her honey-colored hair, and approached the one only one of the group whose name she recalled. "Zebedee?" Sophitia smiled timidly and presented a white plastic bag and a small glass jar. "I've brought chips." OOC: Writing her is like using a limb after getting a cast off. Weak and awkward. My apologies.

A loud pop rang out around the area and two figured appeared just outside of the gathering. The first was dressed in all black, regal-looking clothing holding a box of some sort. The second was unfamiliar to the group but held a very similar aire to him. He had shoulder length white hair and fair skin. A pair of emerald green eyes sat deep in his skull. His chest was covered with a bronze breastplate that bore the face of a beautiful woman on the front with snakes for hair, while on the back the same woman looked like a monster. Under the breastplate he wore a half simple, half complex robe. The left side was flat and black while the right side was a deep purple with a serpent design in a lavender color. A pair of black boots and a complex bronze sword hangind on his left side. The man came bearing a pair of baskets piled high with fruits and breads.
"Lookes like we made the party before things got to far under way!" Valon called out as he placed the box down, followed closely by this companions baskets.
"Lord Lorsha, shall I return to the palace?" the man asked softly in Valons ear in a slightly shaky tone.
"Of course not Marius. We're not going to be training today, so just sit back and get to know my friends. You take things far to seriously." Valon laughed a bit as he popped the box open and took a single bottle from it.
"Drakengrads finest wine, we like to call it Viyian. You'll all enjoy it I'm sure. We also brought some rare fruits and breads from my private reserves. So, can I interest anyone in some Viyian?"
OOC- Short and crappy. Just had to move things along.

"I'll have some, if you don't mind, Valon."
Yoshimitsu was there, looking his best. He had cleaned himself up a lot, and was dressing almost formally. His hair was styled for once, with a side fringe and his spikiness confined to the back. On his torso, he wore a plain, dark blue shirt with a very light blue, almost white tie. On his legs, he wore plan black, very baggy, formal trousers that seemed to move with him, like a dancer's pants. To finish his attire, he wore recently polished Chelsea boots. Naturally, his random pouch was hanging at his waist.
"It's been a while... Zebedeee," Yoshimitsu said, extending a hand. "I brought some food and drink, just on the off chance you might need it. Burmecian finest food and drink. Nothing to complain about." He dropped a wink, and continued to smile genuinely.

"I'm honored..." Zebedee paused, thinking. "No, not by the chips. By your presence of course." Zebedee bowed ever so slightly in respect to the maiden, and came up smiling. "It's been a very long while, but I'm glad to see that you're alive and well. A lot of us tend to just wander off and never come back." The moment there was a pop, Zebedee spun, his hand sparking with green bursts, but he instantly relaxed.
"'eyo, Valon. Glad to see you could make it." Zebedee teleported to Valon's side, seizing his hand in a hearty handshake. He then turned to Marius. "Pleased to make your acquaintance as well. Name's Zebedee Taylor, owner of the Whelkshore House. And you are?" Zebedee smile took on a more understated appearance.
"As for the wine, well, I'm forbidden from having alcohol, but as for the fruits and breads, that's right up my alley. I'll be sure to enjoy those to their fullest." Zebedee said, eying the box and trying to discern what to try first. He knelt down, opening it, and produced a purple dome shaped thing that was semi-transparent. Watching as it wobbled on the plate, he slowly shook it up and down.
"What's this?"
OOC: The purple dome shaped thing makes its return!

OOC: Simulposted with El, so adding this. BIC: "Ah, Yoshimitsu!" Zebedee set down the bizarre culinary construct, and turned to face him. "Using my proper name, eh? Cool. I'm still weaning these other people off of it, y'know." He smirked slightly. "Burmecian, eh? I always wondered what food would be like from a place that rained all of the time. Must have some pretty weird vegetables and stuff, no?"

"I, on the other hand, am honored only by the chips," a female voice said. A hand unceremoniously came out of Zebedee's chest when he was done bowing, grabbed the chips, and disappeared back into the man's chest. Behind him, Rie was standing about a meter away, her arm a good deal longer than it should be. Her arm contracted, hand closed around the bag. She took out a knife and stabbed it open before starting to feast on the crispies. OOC: I bet you guys didn't know Rie could be stretchy.

"You'd be surprised," Yoshimitsu said, grinning. He reached into his pouch and pulled out a plate, covered in tin foil, that was obviously too big to fit inside of it normally. "The Burmecian Mage department has a responsiblity over keeping the food grown there. I think we all could learn a thing or two from them." Yoshimitsu promptly pulled the foil from the plate to reveal an selection of sandwiches, some exotic, some not-so-exotic, all up for grabs. The blue haired teen promptly took one of the Burmecian-brand sandwiches from the plate and took a bite from it.
"This is pretty good," he said around a mouthful of food. "Hey Rie."

"That's the Drakens version of Fruit Cake. We all have it around holidays but no one eats it..." Valon trailed off as he slightly stuck out his tongue.
Marius placed his right hand on his stomach and bowed low at his waist. He quickly popped back to his full height and looked on at Zebedee with his piercing green eyes. Marius felt a bit flustered by the kind nature of Zebedee and it took him a few moments to gather his thoughts.
"My name is Marius Solidad, Master of Snakes, Student of Valon Lorsha, and Defender of Drakengrad. It's my pleasure to meet you Lord Taylor." Marius rambled quickly.
Valon elbowed Marius in the ribs quickly as he snapped his fingers, creating a glass in his hand which he quickly filled with it with Viyian and passed it to Yoshi, one for Marius, and one for himself. Valon took a deep gulp of the grape, mango, dragon fruit, and Gorja fruit flavored wine. The flavored danced across his pallet as he let the liquid flow down his throat.
"Zebedee, I can make some for you in a non-alcoholic version if you would like. Just give me the word. You'll need it to get the flavor of THAT our of your mouth." Valon jested.
OOC- I had forgotten about the purple dome shaped thing. I love it!!

Yoshimitsu gratefully accepted the glass of Viyian, and in a graceful movement set the plate of Burmecian sandwiches on the blanket, without spilling a drop of wine. He took a sip, and almost had to double-take.
"This has got to be one of the best things I've tasted in a while. I tip my hat to you, Valon," Yoshimitsu said, mock-bowing. He straightened up again, and reached for his pouch. "Though I might be tempted to offer you some Burmecian wine. They specialise in rosé, and nearly all of their wine is non-alcoholic." Yoshimitsu winked at Zebedee again. "I'd say it's on par with Valon's 'Viyian', but Valon's brand may be a shade better."

"Oh what? Wine? When was this offered?" Rie asked. "I want wine." Rie proceeded to investigate one of Zeb's baskets. She pulled out one of plastic containers, which happened to contain the roast chicken. She kept the entire thing to herself. "Yeah I'm just here for the food," she said with her mouth mid-chew of a small piece of chicken. Eating large bites was for savages. OOC: This party is so high class. What the hell is Rie doing here? I should get Nick in this, but I need to rework his personality, along with Ysane's. >_>

Yoshimitsu threw the entire bottle of Burmecian wine to Rie. "There you go," he said simply, pulling a second bottle from the pouch at his waist. "Don't complain." He had a cheeky grin on his face that was almost flirty but quite obviously wasn't as he cracked open the bottle and offered it around.

"No need to be so serious. We're all just buddies around here, really, I guess you could say." Zebedee turned away from Marius and back to the wobbly platter.
"Now you've piqued my curiosity, Valon. And you know how that goes." Without moving, a bite disappeared from the structure, and Zebedee began chewing thoughtfully. His jaw sped up, working the mass, and then slowed down again. He closed his eyes, as if meditating, and swished it from side to side in his mouth. His lips trembling, he gulped it down, and then gasped for air.
"MY GOD." Zebedee coughed, teleporting a bottle of water to his hand between splutters. He ripped the top off and brought it to his lips, taking a powerful swig and then throwing it aside.
"You weren't KIDDING." He moaned, producing a toothbrush from his pocket and then scrubbing his tongue vigorously. He seized the tip of his tongue, pulling it clear of his mouth, and tried to look down at it. Letting go, he made a sour face as he withdrew his tongue.
"That... Was intense. It was something like that nasty old Listerine meeting a taco salad on the way to the ball, and then rolling in maple syrup once they got there." Zebedee's eyes were watering involuntarily. He took a deep breath, and exhaled heavily. "Wow. I might need to have some more of that some time."
"Some more of what? And don't tell me you guys brought out the drinks without even thinking of me." Natalie said, her voice evident, though she was not. There was a rustling in the branches of the tree, and the shapeshifter appeared, sliding down the trunk. Bits of bark flying up behind her, Natalie hit the ground in a roll, and emerged from it beside Marius.
"Hey, newbie, mind passing me a glass?" She extended her hand expectantly.
"Nat, calm down. I'm sure Valon can always make more." Thyra's gentle voice greeted the group, with the girl also appearing behind the tree.
"Good afternoon, everybody. We landed in the tree, hoping to surprise you all, but Natalie... decided to change her plans, I guess." Thyra waved politely, and then bowed her head respectfully. "My name is Thyra Russell. Heir to the Russell Estate, and a comrade in arms to the rest of you."
"Go ahead and pour us all a round of each, guys." Natalie said, jerking her thumb towards Zebedee and Thyra. "I know you both can purify alchohol out of your systems instantly, so stop your bitching."
"True, true." Zebedee admitted as Thyra blushed slightly. Nat was always direct, but using language that crude in front of a bunch of new people... She really didn't care what others thought, did she?

OOC: We should rechristen this "I don't need a simulpost" although since the party is starting to branch out, it's getting not quite as bad.
And sorry about not responding to the hand through the chest. I had already written well past it, and didn't know how to backtrack, though that was pretty awesome.
