Damn, I guess this is why the elders are so big on avoiding humans. And here I thought they were xenophobes. So thinking, a catlike creature ran as fast as his legs could take him, trying to stay ahead of the mob behind him. Suddenly, Pyramew heard a sound like a small firecracker. Gunshot, he realized immediately. Instinctively, he raised his right hand slightly, with only the pointer and middle fingers outstretched. He didn't really need to, but it had always helped him to focus his abilities when he did a small hand motion with them. In this case, Pyramew was nearly instantly surrounded by an electrically-charged sphere. The bullet met the sphere, there was a slight flash at the point of impact, and the bullet bounced away harmlessly. Close one, thought Pyramew. He glanced behind him. The mob was getting closer. Then he looked ahead again. A couple hundred feet in front of him, the ground dropped away.
Looks like I may have to fight after all, he thought. I've still got my wings if it comes to that, but... Pyramew turned to face his pursuers. “I don't want to fight!” he yelled, hoping against hope that he could somehow convince this mob that he was not a threat.
“Get him!” came the voice of one of the ones near the front of the mob.
So much for that idea, thought Pyramew. Best if I try to incapacitate, rather than kill. At least then I might have a shot at someday having a better reputation among humans. Problem is, there's so many of them. Pyramew glanced at the ground beneath his feet. There was a sparse covering of dry grass. Aha. Maybe I can scare them off. Pyramew again raised his right hand, pointer and middle fingers outstretched, and moved it in a small arc in front of him. A small fraction of a second later, a stream of fire, shaped in the same arc as his motion, emanated from just in front of his torso, and struck the foliage in front of him. As such things tend to do, the dry grass caught fire, quickly becoming a fiery wall between Pyramew and his pursuers.
One of the frontmost members of the mob turned to face his cohorts. “Fire, let's get out of here!” The mob as a whole began to back up slowly, but Pyramew could see, even through the flames, that they were more interested in getting past the flames and at him than in avoiding them. I'm in trouble, he thought. If they figure a way past my fire wall, there's no way I can fight them all off. There's just too many of them.

Suddenly the entire mob stopped trying to get past the flames. In fact, they stopped moving altogether. They all stood as if in attention. And then, they parted right down the middle.
"My my, what have we here?" said a charming female voice. The voice belonged to a young looking woman, dressed in white robes, walking down the path the mob provided. She waved her hand and the flames parted in front of her, and she stepped through. The fire closed behind her.
"There was once a time when one such as yourself would have been regarded as a god's incarnation, coming down to grace the people with your presence," she said. She smiled sweetly. "I am known as Ysane. This mob will not be troubling you."
The mob turned around as if on cue and began marching back to the village where they came from.
OOC: Yeah, woo, crappy entrance with crappy character, quite possibly destroying a whole plot! >_> I can change the mob if you want. I'm just trying to develop Ysane's character, since I... haven't. At all. I need to figure her out. She's not here to start a fight between good and evil, because I'm trying to steer her away from that whole stereotypical evil-ness. Which is why she needs character development.
That OOC explanation was longer than my post. <_<

"That was a neat little trick there," another voice said. The source of the voice was apparently a tree, that was slowly regaining its leaves. In actual fact, the voice was coming from someone sat in the tree, on a branch that was blatantly too weak to support his weight. He was sat on it anyway. The person had very vivid, ocean blue hair that just defied all gravity completely, appearing almost black in the light but still quite obviously being blue. He was also wearing some novelty, very furry, grey and white wolf ears on his head.
His attire was similarly themed. He was wearing a silver-grey jacket, the cuffs of which had white fur on them, as did the collar. On his legs, he was wearing a slightly darker pair of grey jeans, the bottoms of which also had white fur. Attached to the back was a fake wolf tail. To complete the outfit, he had some fake fangs attached to four of his teeth.
"That electric thing you did, yeah," Yoshimitsu said. "It was pretty cool. Oh, by the way," he addressed Ysane. "That trick you did, making the drunkards disappear? That was cool too." He turned his attention back to Pyramew. "Anyway, yeah, watch this."
Yoshimitsu hopped from the tree and landed a fair distance from Ysane and Pyramew, raised his hand and clicked his fingers once. Suddenly, the air around him was on fire, literally. He was surrounded by blue flames completely, flames that were burning up the ground beneath him into a crater. He clicked his fingers again, and the flames dissappeared.
"Like mine?"

OOC: No problem, choobs. While I had somewhat intended for the threat to last a little longer, no harm is done to the plot by ending that early.
BIC: The only reason that Pyramew's jaw wasn't gaping open was that he had more self-control than that -- barely. Pyramew took a moment to collect his thoughts, then turned to Ysane.
"Thanks for the assistance, Ysane," he said, making a slight bow. "If not for that, I doubt I could have made it out alive without killing at least a few of them."
With that, Pyramew allowed himself a slight chuckle. "But really, a god's incarnation? I knew others of my kind had interacted with humans in the far past, but I never realized that they had been that superstitious at the time."
Pyramew next turned to his other guest. "A fellow elementalist, I see," he said. "And a bit of a showoff. Though I may never understand why some humans choose to dress themselves in imitation of other animals. Be that as it may, perhaps we can learn something from each other."
At that moment, a thought suddenly came to Pyramew. "Ah, but in all the excitement, I've neglected to introduce myself. I am Pyramew. And you, my elementalist friend, what shall I call you?"

"I hate to pick apart your sentence piece by piece, but I'm going to anyway," Yoshimitsu said, absent mindly forming flames on his fingers. "I'm no elementalist. Sure, I use elements, but that's not the extent of my powers. I've got other neat tricks that I'm much more able with. Watch this."
Yoshimitsu extended a palm, the flames from his fingers vanishing, and concentrated briefly. Instantly, an orb of undiluted energy formed there, and threatened to rip apart his hand. He closed his palm and the energy disappeared.
"There's also this."
He concentrated for no more than a second, and his hair had sparked into a violently bright gold. His whole body seemed to glow dimly as he powered himself up. He shrugged, and his hair faded to its ordinary colour again.
"Second, I'm in a minority. I just fancied something different for an outfit," Yoshimitsu said, shrugging again. "And finally, what exactly do you think I can learn from you? From what I've seen, my elemental control is waaaay above anything you've got."

"Always flamboyant, always a showoff. Almost always right." A voice, gruff but quiet, came from the brush to the side. There was a brief pause, and then a massive blade came tearing through the thicket. Following it was an incredibly short man, bearing a cobalt blue shell on his back. Despite his height being almost negligible, he had the fierce black eyes of a warrior, and a build that would have been downright terrifying on anybody over four feet in height.
"Yoshimitsu." Pablo said with a small smile, and nodded in greeting. "I saw most of the happenings, though with legs as short as mine... Well, I got here considerably behind the rest of you." Pablo hoisted his sword, easily large even by human standard, onto his shoulder.
"Pyramew, right? Name's Pablo. No last name, unless you count my people as a name..." Pablo swaggered over, and extended a calloused hand. "Glad to finally meet somebody who I'm not talking with their kneecaps."

OOC: That's what he said.
BIC: "Hey, I'm a showoff too. There's nothing wrong with letting everybody know that you're capable of stuff they could only dream of." Pablo smirked slightly. "Just as long as you CAN do it." He paused, adjusted his blade, and thought for a moment. "Though right now would be a good time to show off, I don't feel like exerting my energy."

Ysane smirked at the mortals. She had no desire to compete in their petty game of showing off. However, a small show of power could put them in their place...
The demi-goddess coughed lightly. It would've been barely noticeable, especially considering the unnatural roll of thunder emanating from some far off point, drowning her out. There was a golden flash in the sky in the direction of the thunder. Strangely, the thunder came before the flash.

Finally, I can get a word in edgewise, thought Pyramew. He cleared his throat.
"OK, first -- Yoshimitsu, was it? I think we're using different definitions for the word 'elementalist'. My definition has nothing to do with exclusivity, simply the fact that you use elemental power. As for your elemental control being greater than mine, I doubt that. Your elemental power is far greater than mine, but I think your control really isn't as strong as you think it is. I could see in your little display that you were struggling to actually keep your power under control."
With that, Pyramew turned to the newcomer. "A pleasure, Pablo. I see that you have a strong fighting spirit."
Before Pyramew could expand on that thought, he heard a familiar disturbance in the breeze. Looking off to his right, Pyramew saw exactly what, or rather who, he had been expecting. "Aguvend," he called. "I thought you might find me, but I didn't expect it to be this soon."
With that, another Magicat, this one with fur striped in white and a light blue, came in for a graceful landing about four yards away from Pyramew. "I was already close," said Aguvend, "and that commotion with the villagers cinched the deal."
Pyramew turned to the others. "This is Aguvend. Where my elements are fire and lightning, hers are water and air. We... were friends, once. Ever since I left home, she's been following me, I assume to try to convince me to return."
"Almost right, Pyramew," replied Aguvend. "A couple of weeks after you left, the elders reconsidered on your exile. They want you back, and they're not taking no for an answer. I was chosen to deliver that message and to bring you back, by force if necessary."
"Then force it will have to be, Aguvend," said Pyramew, with a sigh. "You know very well why I wanted to leave, and I'm not going back."
"If that's your decision... prepare yourself!" Almost simultaneously, Pyramew and Aguvend faced each other and bared their claws.
OOC: I'll cut it off there for now. To anyone who's wondering, the only part of this post I actually had planned when I started typing was Pyramew's response to Yoshimitsu. The rest just kinda wrote itself as I was typing.

"You'd be wrong to assume that, Pyramew," Yoshimitsu said, his voice gaining a chill to it. "My level of control probably far exceeds yours. I've been dealing with elements all my life, and probably in much more dangerous situations. If I hadn't learned control, I wouldn't be here today."
As if to emphasize his point, the air around him erupted in flames. Very quickly, the fire took on a shape, the flames merging together to form a snake-like dragon that coiled itself around Yoshimitsu and bared its burning fangs at the cat. Even as a second cat appeared, he did not let his control slide, rather changed the fire into electricity.
"If you two are quite done bickering..." He said, clicking his fingers and dismissing his elemental dragon. "As interesting as it is to watch two cats fight, I'm sure the pair of you will spew clichés and what you think is witty banter. I don't think my sanity could handle that."

"I see I was wrong about your elemental control," Pyramew replied as Yoshimitsu's latest display faded. "Now, if only your self-control were as good," he continued in a mutter. With that, he turned his focus fully back to Aguvend.
"Bickering?" called Aguvend. "You have no idea, human. Now, stay out of this. Pyramew, don't be a fool. Do you really think you can survive alone, out in this world of beings who find your very existence a threat?" With that, making no outward motion that anyone could see, Aguvend sent a blast of air at Pyramew, who staggered slightly but managed to keep his footing.
"I thought you were serious about this, Aguvend," said Pyramew. A fireball formed in front of his right hand, and shot towards her. Aguvend dove to one side, and the fireball passed over her harmlessly. From her position, suddenly a watery blast erupted towards Pyramew.
"I could say the same," Aguvend replied, as Pyramew surrounded himself in a sphere of fire, the water becoming steam as it made contact. Then, a miniature bolt of lightning arced from Pyramew's claws to Aguvend, slightly singeing her fur.
"Aguvend, be reasonable. The elders are living in the past." As if in reply, Aguvend sent another blast of wind at Pyramew, this one much stronger. Pyramew was knocked off his feet, though he quickly rose and resumed his fighting stance.
"Me, be reasonable? The humans will never accept us. We should continue as we have, and keep to ourselves." At that, Pyramew's hands emitted a stream of flame, which arced from side to side, giving Aguvend little choice but to back away to avoid the attack. She immediately responded by creating a wave of water, which quickly crossed the distance between them and crashed over Pyramew, again knocking him to the ground.
Pyramew rose, and sputtered. "That's enough, Aguvend. I refuse to fight you anymore. But I will say this. The day will come, probably soon, when the humans discover our lands. When they do, keeping to ourselves won't be an option. If we don't form some kind of relationship with us, their fear will drive them to exterminate us. They can do it, too, with their technology and superior numbers."
Aguvend gasped. "You mean... that's why you left? It's worse than we feared. I should head back and inform the elders. If contact is as inevitable as you say, then we must be ready." Aguvend retracted her claws and spread her arms, exposing her "wings" to the air. A gust of wind rose from behind her, and she rose quickly. Within seconds, she was out of sight.
"I just hope the elders will actually listen," muttered Pyramew. With that, he turned to the others. "Sorry you had to watch that. I meant what I said about how humans will react when they find us. I hope all of you are willing to help me. If I can't convince the humans that we Magicats aren't a threat, our contact will probably lead to war, and the results are likely to be catastrophic."

"You think peace is any better?" Pablo growled, grabbing his blade to bring it to bear and then stabbing it into the ground with a steamy hiss. "We all know how humans are, and that's a sure thing. They are only happy with you if they can use you. When us Nokis were proud, were strong, they saw us only with suspicion. If you're not one of them, you can't be trusted with power. So they'll try to destroy you unless you seem powerful enough that they would lose."
"There never was a war with Nokis... We just caved in. Our waters were slowly ruined, our food and crops slowly killed. Eventually, the only way to survive was to become subservient. And now, we're their stooges. There are good people, but humanity as a whole is one big rotten spot." Pablo placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, the blade glowing slightly.

"I hope you're referring to humanity as a general thing," Yoshimitsu said. "I've got some human friends who aren't complete jerks. Kinda. Not all people are as bad as you're saying."
Yoshimitsu shrugged, a pulled out a cigarette, lighting it with a flame from his finger. "I mean, I understand that on the whole, people do just try to use other things for their own personal gain, but that's true for any race, not just humans. Even in your races, Nokis and Magicats, you must have some there who are just like what you're saying humans are like," Yoshimitsu said. "I agree that a war wouldn't be good, so its your call, Pyramew."

"Of course. Everything is in general. Duality exists in anything you can even think of. It's the main precept of the Noki faith. There are good people, and there are bad Nokis. However, it's still important to note that the prevailing theme of human behavior tends to be much more aggressive than the minor races." Pablo said, his eyes watching the sky as he thought about the subject at hand.

"Precisely, Pablo," replied Pyramew. "I'm not about to say that my people are all good, and if I did not believe that humans had at least the potential to live in true harmony with my people, I would not be here. Rather, I would still be in my homeland trying to convince my people to prepare for war with the humans."
Pyramew took a breath, composed his thoughts, and continued. "You say it's my call, Yoshimitsu. That's all well and good, but unfortunately, I have no idea what to do next. This is not the first time I've encountered humans, but all of my previous contacts have fared no better than this time; each time, the humans see me as a threat and attack me. Contact between humans and Magicats is inevitable, and if the information I have gathered is accurate, chances are that it will happen in no more than three months. What can I do to ensure that it does not end in catastrophe?"
Pyramew was truly getting angry now, and let out a loud hiss. "Hearing what happened with your people, Pablo, has only made it harder for me to keep faith in the mission I have given myself. My own people had exiled me, and now wish to confine me to our lands. Humans tend to attack me on sight. I find myself becoming more and more tempted to simply return home and urge my people to make preparations for war, even though my impression is that even our best preparations would be unlikely to protect us from extinction at the humans' hands."
As if to prove his point, a small explosion sent dust flying from no more than five feet away from where Pyramew was standing. His eyes darted, and quickly found the source. "Dammit! A helicopter, and they're armed! They must have come from the last city I visited, and decided to make sure I wouldn't be coming back." With that, Pyramew grabbed his bow and nocked an arrow. "There's no point in trying to talk. If they were to even hear me, that they came this far to attack me shows that they're not about to listen to reason."
Pyramew began to focus his sight on the approaching craft, and his arrow suddenly took on a harsh red glow. "A fire arrow to their tail rotor should disable them. Just need to aim..." Pyramew took a couple of seconds to confirm his shot, drew back, and launched the projectile at the attacking helicopter. A second later, a loud boom confirmed that Pyramew had indeed hit his target. As he had expected, it was not long before the attacking craft was grounded. A trio of humans, each armed with what Pyramew instantly recognized as rocket launchers, exited the craft.
"I knew that thing was dangerous," said one of them, clearly the leader. "Lucky thing base dispatched us to finish it off."
Pyramew growled, returning his bow to the strap he wore to secure it when he wasn't using it. "I see you have no intention to live and let live," he shouted, his eyes alight with fury and his claws bared. "This will be your only warning. Agree to leave now, and I will not hinder you. Attack me, and you will not live to regret it. I could easily have destroyed you rather than simply disable your machine. The only reason I did not is because I still have hopes that you will come to your senses. Think about that."

"You don't learn, do you, rookie?" Pablo responded, and raised his left hand, as if gesturing for the men to stop. Almost instantly, there was a flicker, a tongue of flames appearing in his palm.
"All of you, NOW it's our game. Don't even try to shoot. I've set a thin barrier of solar flame at the end of each of your barrels. So much as pulling the trigger will result in you exploding, not us." Pablo then proceeded to walk closer to them, shouldering his blade.
"So, tell me WHY exactly you all are chasing him? Is it because he's different from you? A lot of people are different. Black people, white people..." Pablo gestured to his own skin. "Yellow people. But attacking just due to differences is pure, blind idiocy. If you were to give me proof that he had done something wrong, you might be worth listening to. As is, you may as well just be a high-tech lynch mob."

"Pablo, call off your solar flames," Yoshimitsu said, unsheathing his sword. "I don't much fancy getting burned to a crisp."
Yoshimitsu's hair flashed gold, and suddenly he was gone. Vanished. Not there. There was a whooshing sound, and the left hand man's rocket launcher was suddenly in two pieces. A second and third, and the right hand man's rocket launcher was in three pieces. The third rocket launcher seemed to just vanish. Yoshimitsu reappeared, the firearm on his shoulder. He casually tossed it to the side. Then he clicked his fingers.
Each man suddenly had his feet trapped in ice, and his arms bound to his waist by the same frozen water. "Yeah, you'll answer Pablo's question or you'll wind up in the middle of the Atlantic completely trapped in ice," Yoshimitsu said.

OOC: Sorry for the lack of responses, but I'm still so iffy on Ysane's personality that I'm not sure how she would react to anything. >_> Maybe I should read some mythology....
BIC: Ysane had been sitting on a rock, staring at the stars. She wasn't particularly interested in the conversation. Humans had grown stupid and arrogant; be they good, be they bad, they weren't particularly bright yet still believed in themselves as the best, and as such shunned anything that confused them.
She was mildly amused by the brief tussle earlier, but it was over and they had gone back to talking.
The sound of a helicopter snapped her out of her reverie. She was about to ready a spell to utterly destroy the craft but saw Pyramew take it down. The safe landing disappointed the demigoddess.
"Questions questions..." Ysane muttered. "Insanity," she called out quietly. A white dove fluttered out of what seemed to be no where and landed on Ysane's outstretched hand. "Go."
Yes ma'am. Insanity, the dove, took off from Ysane's arm and while in the air, transformed into a snarling beast as big as an SUV. It resembled a dark gray lion with spiky black main, glowing red eyes, and a hungry, foaming mouth. It somehow seemed both bony and muscular. It snarled at the three men and paced around them.

OOC: Sorry to keep you all waiting. My RP muse has always been a bit fickle.
BIC: The would-be attackers threw up their hands, in an age-old gesture of surrender.
"I think they've had enough," said Pyramew. Then, turning to the recently-armed soldiers, Pyramew glowered. "Now, tell me. Who sent you, and more importantly, why?" To illustrate his point, Pyramew formed a fireball in his right hand, then extinguished it. His message had been clear -- I could just as easily have hit you with this.
Despite obviously being outnumbered and outgunned, the leader of the strike team was determined to maintain his air of toughness and superiority. "You mean you don't know? Stupid cat. I'd think the who would be obvious. As to why, if you don't know the legends about your kind, you must be even dumber than you look."
Legends? thought Pyramew, slightly puzzled. Ysane said my kind might once have been worshipped; perhaps the stories aren't quite as she said. "I'll let your weak attempt at an insult slide. Now, tell me. What legends, and why would men such as yourselves even believe them?"
"Generations ago, the legends say that cat creatures ravaged these lands, calling forth fire, lightning, and even the power of the earth itself against any who stood in their way."
Those sound like Magicats, alright, but... my people's history records that we've always avoided contact with other sentients. Unless... it couldn't be, could it? "If the legends are true, and I'm not saying they are, then the ones who performed such acts were exiles, and to be so aggressive towards humans was an egregious criminal act."
"You're one to talk. What do you call what you just did? Destroying our helicopter, sending these thugs after us?"
"Self-defense. I know for a fact that your culture acknowledges the right of one who is attacked to defend themselves to the best of their ability. And you'll note that you aren't dead, or even injured. Even if these fine beings," Pyramew gestured to the ones who had helped him incapacitate the attackers, "had not helped me, I could just as easily have caused your vehicle to explode with you in it. There would have been no survivors." Pyramew paused for effect, hoping to allow that distinction to set in. "Now, I see by your uniforms that you belong to a military organization. Lead me to your base, and allow me to meet with your commander face-to-face. I wish to resolve this peacefully, once and for all. You have my word that, as long as nobody attempts to harm me, I will do nothing to harm you or any of your comrades."
The soldiers, as best they could given their awkward positioning, turned to each other and began to debate in hushed tones that Pyramew could not make out. Meanwhile, Pyramew shifted so that he could keep one eye on the soldiers while still facing his friends.
"I don't know if I can trust these people," he said to them. "If they accept my terms, any of you who wish are welcome to come along. If not, I'll understand. At any rate, those legends worry me. Our history does tell of a small group of Magicats who were exiled from our lands about ten generations ago. It's not inconceivable that they might indeed have committed the acts these legends accuse them of. I'm going to need to figure out how to convince them that these Magicats were atypical, and that we as a people are not a threat. If I can't, a war between humans and Magicats may be inevitable, and it would be a miracle indeed if my people survived such a war. I hope Aguvend is able to talk the elders into going along with my plan."
At that, one of the soldiers cleared his throat loudly, evidently attempting to get Pyramew's attention. He turned fully to them. "We've been in contact with our base," the leader said, his previous tough-guy stance suddenly deflated. "The commander will not allow you onto our base, but he does have a counter-proposal. Will you allow him to meet you here, and in the meantime, agree to a cease-fire?"
"Agreed. I will await your commander's arrival. In the meantime, a cease-fire."

"Renegades? Oy..." Pablo muttered, facing away from the group. He tilted his head back as if in thought, and walked in a (very) small circle, tapping on his temple. He muttered to himself quietly, the words indistinct even to the superhuman hearing of his comrades. He paused, bit his lip, and then continued his pacing.
"I'm with you. My people can't have enough friends, and..." Pablo's harsh face lightened slightly. "I certainly would like to have you as a friend as well. I've been through trials like your own, and I know how it is."
"And I've got one other question..." Pablo coughed quietly, and looked back to his feline compatriot. "Could these rebels, or their descendants, still be around? I don't know about you, but if I was exiled in a way that struck me as arbitrary, I wouldn't just sit around. I'd go and do everything I could to get back in, regardless of ethicality." From the look on his face, it was clear that Pablo was dead serious about his opinion. He loved his homeland, and nobody could change that. Nobody.

Something clicked in Pyramew's head. "Why didn't I think of that before?" he said. "The exiles themselves could never be alive today -- our people are not nearly that long lived -- but... I wonder. Our history says that those particular exiles never did return to Magicat lands, but there were enough of them that they could have... damn! Yes, they could have descendants, still living in this area. It would explain a lot. If you're right, when their commander arrives, his first question will probably be where they are. And when I don't tell him..." Pyramew shuddered.
As if on cue, a familiar sound began. "Another helicopter," Pyramew said. "Please, everyone. Don't do anything overtly aggressive, but be prepared. If my suspicions are right, we may soon need to defend ourselves. I just hope I'm wrong."

Yoshimitsu nodded to Pyramew, sheathing his sword again, the blade making a perculiar whistling sound. However, as he did so, he had a look of utmost concentration, as though he was trying to telepathically communicate with someone. Which, in fact, he was.
"Bahamut, I don't trust these military guys one bit, but I'm not too sure on those cats either." "What do you mean?" "Those exiles they're talking about, they're elementals. I'll be damned before I find an elemental that doesn't find a way to protect against their weaknesses." "I understand. What do you wish me to do?" "Just patrol the area, and make sure I don't miss anything." "Very well."
There was a second where someone might have detected a slight blur just behind Yoshimitsu's head. However, it faded quickly as Bahamut moved around everyone, undetectable to anyone but Yoshimitsu.

"Never underestimate the power of rats." Pablo growled, adjusting his sword on his shoulder. "I say that we hunt them down and skin them alive. There's more than one way of doing it, y'know? Or, we could just kill them outright. If they've disgraced your people so badly, they don't deserve life. That's the way I see it."
"If the humans ask us, just be honest. Say you're hunting down a group of rogues. That should shut them up. Humans don't screw around with others that are on their way to kill something that isn't another human. They're greedy like that."
"Okay, I won't attack them." Pablo said almost too easily, dropping his sword to the grass. He watched the helecopter, flecks of blue glowing in his eyes. He could throw an ice barrier up the moment they started shooting, if things got violent.

"Again, Pablo, I hope you're generalising," Yoshimitsu said before yawning very widely and openly. "It's entirely situational. I'd stop someone on their way to kill you, for example. That is, assuming you actually needed me to, which I somehow doubt."
"And sure. I wont attack. I've got my insurance policy sorted out already anyway," he added to Pyramew. Slowly, he sheathed his sword again, the metal screeching as it slid down its scabbard, an eerie and somewhat threatening sound.
OOC- short post ahoy.

"Thanks, guys," said Pyramew. "But, Pablo, what you're saying worries me. My people don't favor the death penalty. That's why those exiles were, well, exiled in the first place. There's also the fact that I likely lack the power to do anything like that, even if I were so inclined. I'm not exactly my people's greatest warrior, and even if I were, the odds would be against me."
Pyramew sighed. "On the other hand, something does need to be done. Otherwise, there's no chance of the humans ever accepting our kind. First things first, though. Their commander should be here any moment, and I'd like to solve that problem without bloodshed if I can."
Sure enough, the whirring of helicopter rotors could now be heard in the distance, rapidly growing closer. Pyramew fought the instinct to bare his claws and take a fighting stance. Moments later, the approaching helicopter came into view, and came in for a landing. Out stepped two soldiers, each holding a long rifle, but their weapons were not at the ready. The message their stance sent was far clearer than words could ever have made it -- We're not attacking yet, but we won't hesitate to do so. Behind them, a third man, his uniform far more decorated than the two rifle-bearing soldiers, stepped from the helicopter. Unlike his men, he was not holding a weapon, but Pyramew could clearly see a handgun holstered on his belt. This had to be the commander. The two riflers saluted, then took an attentive stance, their eyes towards Pyramew and his allies.
The commander spoke up. "My men tell me you wished to meet with me," he said. His voice had an icy undertone to it, silently adding, Just give me an excuse to kill you. "Let's not waste time. Tell me, where are the others of your kind?"
Pyramew was no diplomat, and this situation wasn't exactly friendly. His answer came almost before he realized it. "As I tried to explain to your men, the ones you're talking about are renegades. I am not with them. I did not even know that there were Magicats outside of my homeland until today."
"Magicats? Is that what you call yourselves? Still, I find it hard to believe that you would just happen to be here and not even know that others of your kind were near. More likely, you are with them, or you're planning to join them."
"Are all humans this paranoid?" retorted Pyramew. "Whether you believe it or not, I am telling the truth. I did not know that there were other Magicats in the area, though knowing that now does explain why the residents of the village there were so eager to attack me."
"To attack you? More likely, you attacked them, and they elected to defend themselves. How else do you explain the burnt foliage not thirty feet from you?"
"I did create that fire, I do not deny it. However, my intent was not to harm anyone. I was attempting to discourage the villagers from pursuing and attacking me, nothing more."
"And it never entered your mind that the fire could spread, possibly even reaching the village. Pigs will fly before I accept that story."
"It's not as if I had a lot of time to decide!" snapped Pyramew. "If I hadn't done it, the villagers would have caught up to me, and probably killed me. In any case, your point is moot. The fire did not spread, and I had no reason to believe that it would. Moreover, nobody was hurt, thank goodness. Besides, if I had intended to burn the village, why would I have come all the way out here first?"
"Enough talk. Tell me where the other Magicats are!"
"I would not be inclined to tell you even if I did know, but as I said before, I have no idea. I didn't even know there were Magicats living outside of my homeland, let alone that they were here."
"I granted you this meeting in the hopes that you would see reason. Obviously, you won't. Men!"
Before the commander could finish his order, Magicat barked, "You're the one who won't see reason! Tell me, even if I had given you the information you wanted, would you really have let me go? You're so convinced that all Magicats are the enemy that I have no doubt that you would have had your men shoot me regardless, or at least attempted it. I might as well tell you now -- I could easily have burned you and your men to cinders without so much as moving a muscle. I still can. This is the only warning I will give you. Stand down now, or I will have no choice but to kill you."
The commander's response was only three words, but it was exactly the ones that Pyramew had feared. "Fire at will."
Pyramew twitched one finger, and small electric bolts struck the two rifles. The resulting electric charge and heat caused the two soldiers to flinch, nearly but not quite dropping their weapons. A moment later, twin fireballs hit the rifle barrels, heating the metal just enough that gravity bent them and closed off the openings that the bullets would otherwise have emerged from. With that, Pyramew dropped into a fighting stance, unsheathing his short sword in one quick motion. "That was a very small portion of the power I am capable of," Pyramew said, his voice hard as steel. "And these two are capable of even more than I am. Are you sure that you will not rethink your decision to make an enemy of me?"
