((OOC: My attempt at doing something cool with my Nintaku; open to all who wish to be a part of this, whether their character knows mine or not...and involves a mysterious villain and his/her dark minions. Dual-dimensional nightmare, and loved ones or friends being abducted via mirrors & reflective surfaces.))
Kara Kinkaryoh was in her personal gym with her pokemon, training to keep in shape and their skills to stay sharp. She was having a wonderful day, having left her daughter Ayane in the care of her beloved Serpentei (who was totally loving the chance to bond with his adorable little girl). It made her feel nostalgic like it was the old days, back when she was a lone warrior and taking on powerful villains like the infamous Patra Sep with help from many of the interesting friends she'd come to know (like Ch@n, Julie Dacta, Rio, Jessie, Agent Coldwater, etc.). Kara loved having a family, but it saddened her that she'd lost touch with many of her dearest friends (including Agent Coldwater, whom some have feared to possibly be deceased or living in hiding). Even dear Ch@n, who'd been a great ally in battle as well as a friend, sadly didn't talk to her anymore... the last she'd heard from him was about his stressing out over some job that he'd recently gotten (OOC: Bad joke, sorry, but that's really the last I heard from Tim). So as she battled and trained with her loyal pokemon, Kara felt revitalized and that when she was done at the end of the day, luck would be on her side and maybe she'd hear from an old friend or two.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Tachikawa mansion, Serpentei had just put down Ayane for a nap after they'd spent most of the day having fun with Ayane's toys and playfighting with plastic swords. He smiled warmly as he stroked his daughter's sky-blue hair while she drifted off to sleep, and felt so happy he could almost burst. It still amazed and delighted him that he was a dad, in spite of the fact that he obtained his daughter via a scary night in a greenhouse during a storm. But what a night of passion that had been, when he proclaimed his love for Kara and was set free from the dark curse that had been upon him (which involved him looking like an extinct pokemon that he bore the same name as, only able to assume humanoid form temporarily via ghostly powers). Then came the day of Ayane's arrival, which was a miracle since Kara was suffering from major heart trouble and almost died shortly after giving birth. He too missed the old days as well as his wife did, and old friends... like Yoko Kit Hara, the half-Saiyajin/half-vampire warrior who's first name was honorably chosen to be Ayane's middle name. Oh the memories.
Preparing to leave the room to go check in on Kara and her pokemon, Serpentei suddenly stopped in his tracks... a look of fear and horror upon his face. Just at the moment he reached out his hand to open the door, it felt like an icy clawed hand was imprisoning his heart in its eerie grasp. Trying to stay calm and breathing shallow, he looked down at his chest. A bluish-white glow was emanating from inside of him, and Serpentei was seriously freaked out and not knowing what to do. As if to give him some sort of weird relief, a spooky and misty sort of voice spoke from behind him... (certainly belonging to the clawed hand's owner)
"Move ye not an inch, Kihenshin Knight, or I'll pierce thy swiftly beating heart with my claws. Your little 'un we've come to claim, and I'll not let go until my partner hath taken her through the gate. Oh ho! How fiercely and strong does thy heart pump now! I assure you, there needn't been any worry for your little dear... she'll be perfectly safe where she's going. My master has need of her for an important task. Worry about thyself, you should. I can sense with my magic that thy heart is ill and in need of healing or else thy might die someday soon."
Serpentei was angry to hear that his daughter was being abducted by strange creatures that he couldn't even see what they looked like, but then troubled to hear that his heart was off. With how many times he'd stayed in Kihenshin form during a battle for a bit longer than was safe, he knew that it might've received some damage. Not serious enough to worry about, though, since he had fast healing powers. But now was not the time to think about this... he needed to do something to keep these bastards from taking Ayane. Weaving his hands quickly to perform a Kihenshin Knight spell, Serpentei did his best to use psychic power to see behind himself. At that moment, he witnessed the sleeping Ayane disappear through the antique mirror that stood at one end of her room - carried by a man dressed in a hooded crimson robe. Arrayed in the same garb as the other was the one who's hand was inside of Serpentei's chest and clutching his heart. He could see a wicked sort of smile on the stranger's face, and could tell that it was a woman that smile belonged to. Before he even had the chance to try and free himself from her grasp, the woman noticed that her partner and Ayane were gone and suddenly removed her hand from inside of Serpentei, then slipped into the mirror herself. Though greatly relieved to be free, he rushed over to the mirror in time to see it lose the eerie shimmer that it was displaying and return to normal. Shocked and in disbelief of what'd just happened, poor Serpentei fell to his knees before the mirror... staring at his own reflection.
At that moment, Kara entered the room to see her husband kneeling at the mirror and she was puzzled as to what the heck was going on. Gently putting a hand on Serpentei's shoulder, she asked him for an explaination. Still kneeling and facing the mirror, he went on to tell her about the two strangers and of how they'd taken away their daughter to who-knows-where through some kind of portal in the mirror (however, he did keep it secret what the woman had told him about his heart). Wrapping poor Serpentei in a loving embrace, Kara did her best to comfort him and told him that this called for immediate action - use the "Help-seeker" summoning stone given to them by the elven warrior Nagisa Daverrin, and gather together their allies and friends to rescue Ayane and stop whatever nefarious deed the strangers intend to do with her...

OOC: What does the Help seeker do? Does it 'port in help, or does it just mentally nudge individuals that would be helpful towards the location?

Not far from the neighborhood where Tachikawa mansion stood, a blonde boy in a patched zoot suit sat on a swing in the playground of an elementary school that had recently shut down. Alone and unnoticed, he had no one to talk to but his shadow.
"...and the blind man said 'I can't hear you' and the sea cucumber said 'He says we don't serve sea cucumbers here' and the microphonerism said 'That's okie-dokie, listen, how 'bout some turkey on rye though?'"
The boy beamed expectantly, but his shadow didn't respond. After a few moments, the boy said, "Get it?"
"I get it," said his shadow, "inasmuch as there was anything to get in the first place although now that you've told this joke six times consecutively I think some of the meaning has been lost."
"You don't get it!" the boy gasped. "Here, I'll tell it again. A blindy man and a key succumber and a microorganism walked into a bar--"
"No please there's no need for that."
"The barterer said 'We don't serve seeking summers here' and the hooded man said 'I can't hear you' and the mirror said 'He says we don't serve abduckled children here' and the abducklinged children child said 'Help help, I'm being abduct-taped.'"
Once again Higgledy Piggledy was silent. Rhometer frowned. "You seriously don't get it! Let me tell it one more time. Okay, so--"
But Hig cut him off, speaking even more quickly than usual. "What made you change the joke Rhometer."
"What are you saying about? I telled the joke just like I always tell the joke!"
"No you didn't. You talked about a hooded man and a mirror and an abducted child. What put those images into your head."
Rhometer crossed his arms. "Now you're just saying notsense," he declared. But his shadow didn't cross its arms. Instead, Higgledy Piggledy looked around in every direction, not so much to survey the empty playground as to cast about for a clue that anything was out of the ordinary.
"I think we're needed somewhere nearby," he said finally.
"Who kneads us?"
"Someone has sent out a distress signal. A power. There's a supernatural trauma afoot."
"Oh okay, I can deal with feet," said Rhometer, pushing himself off the swing. "Where are we going? The shoe store?"
"This way," said Hig, and in stark defiance of the position of the sun, Rhometer's shadow led him out of the playground.
* * *
They stood on the front porch of Tachikawa mansion.
"This is the place," said Hig. "Tell them you're here."
"I'm here!" Rhometer shouted.
There was a small silence.
"You could also knock," suggested Hig.
"Oh, I'm super good at knocking!" Rho said. "Okay, here I go!" He raised his fist as if to knock, noticed something, and stopped himself with his fist still in the air. "There's a doorbell," he reported to Hig.
"Use that instead then."
Rhometer considered the doorbell, considered his fist, considered his options, and compromised by banging his fist on the doorbell three times.

Kuro was hovering a few feet in the air, eyes closed and legs folded Indian style. He was only wearing swimming shorts and the sun was beating down on him. He had obviously been doing this for quite some time as he was rather tan. Seagulls squawked in the air above him and the waves were gently rolling on to the beach as the salty air moved across his face with a gentle breeze.
His meditation was interrupted, however, by a thought piercing his brain like a bullet through jell-o. Something in his head told him it was time to visit an old acquaintance of his and the circumstances certainly constituted an emergency. Teleporting into his shack he quickly got dressed for combat. Sturdy black boots, comfortable pants (also black) that, while not providing much protection, would not hinder his movements much if at all, Saiyan-style body armor (also black, but with grey bits instead of brown) covered a black t-shirt that read "I SOLVE MY PROBLEMS THROUGH VIOLENCE" and to complete the look, Kuro pulled on black leather gloves to protect his little handsies and donned his shades. In a flash, he was gone.
Kuro reappeared behind an odd boy in an odd suit who had an odd shadow, seeing as how it just spoke to him. Raising an eyebrow, Kuro stood there silently seeing as how the odd kid had just taken care of "knocking" for him.
OOC: Funfact: I own that shirt, IRL.

OOC: One last question... What time is it? Is it late afternoon? Screw it, I'm writing late afternoon.
BIC: "It's not as if I... No, it's not that I have anything against yo- No, for the last time, it is not about a personal vendetta against your city. Yes, you were the primary source of competition for Slateport's shipping industry, but that has nothing to do with why I'm refusing to give the contract to you," A girl, her shoulder length hair swept behind her ears by a grey headband, paced along the beach. She had a bizarrely shaped phone, a thin crescent barely the thickness of a pencil, pressed up against her cheek.
"Why? Well, I've been trying to say it since you called me. You're all the way up in Sinnoh. You'd have to circumvent virtually the entire archipelago just to get over here. Besides, using local contractors from the other seaside cities here draws their interest into the rebuilding efforts. I doubt that you'd be convinced to move to Slateport by-" She pulled the phone away from her face, and held it flat on the palm of her hand. A light on the device switched off, and it curled into a circle.
"Yeah, love you guys too..." Thyra slipped the phone over her wrist, and paused. A new light blinked on it, this one a pale bluish-green.
"Telepathy?" The girl held her arm up, and cleared her mind. The loop had an amplifier built into it for such things, a helpful feature that the maker had tacked on when he had made it in the first place. She let her mind clear, and the words came.
Not words... More of a picture, almost, but not quite... It was the same feeling as when one was grasping for words, but could only place the concept. Somebody lost, something evil, reflections... A direction. Though not typically the first to respond to such things, it was a call for help after all. She turned towards the mainland, and scanned it with a glance. There was a greyish cylinder the size of an upended sedan, gleaming in the light of the setting sun.
She slowly stepped over to the structure, and tapped on it twice. The outside slid around the structure, revealing a small open space within. She slid aside a metal panel in the wall, revealing several buttons with various icons on them. Pressing one, she spoke.
"Sly, everybody else, taking a little trip. Not sure when I'll be back. If you need me, well, just wait until I get back. I'm going to be too..." She paused, and wetted her lips. "Too busy to take phone calls. Anyways, I'll see yout all later. Take care, and God bless. Thyra, out." -------- Thyra eased in for a landing on a roof of what appeared to be some kind of mansion. She dropped lightly, catching herself noiselessly. She didn't know who was asking for help yet, or what the situation was.
A slight noise from the front of the building caught her attention. She quickly lifted into the air, and shot across the rooftop at a low altitude. She reached inside her jacket, drawing her sling, and produced a palm-sized rock from her pocket. She stopped as she came to her destination, dropping low and watching the happenings below. Two figures were waiting at the door. One seemed to be a harmless child, albeit somewhat absurdly dressed, but the other was a powerfully built figure dressed in a rather unfriendly manner.
Uncertain about what to do next, she merely remained on the roof, observing.
OOC: Kinda sucky, but eh, whatever works.

OOC: Dang, I want Thyra's phone! That sounds sooo cool. LOL. And yeah, the current time is late in the afternoon... excellent guess. So, I take it that you won't have someone dear to Thyra be missing - or are you waiting for that to be discovered? Anyhoo, this'll be interesting having such an odd band of heroes arrive...esp. w/ Rhometer & Hig.
BIC:
Serpentei, after recovering from the shock of his daughter's abduction, had gone into his private training room (where he kept various martial arts items and Nintaku tools/weaponry, as well as a cozy spot where he'd often meditate when in need of it). He was eagerly dressing himself for battle and rummaging through his things to see what might be useful for a rescue mission to realms unknown. Meanwhile, Kara had gotten herself ready and was just informing her pokemon about what happened to Ayane, when all of a sudden she heard the loud pounding of her doorbell. Wondering as to why the heck anyone would strike it like that (and hoping it wasn't a new neighbor come to fight over property lines and crap like that), Kara rushed off to the front door and cautiously opened it wide. She had a look of curious wonder as well as slight confusion at the group that was standing on the doorstep, but soon as she caught sight of Kuro in full armor, she knew they must have been summoned by the Help-seeker and were there to help. It'd been a long time since she'd last seen the mighty Kuro, and it made her pleased that he'd answered the call to come...and had come prepared for battle, as well. Not sure what to make of the enigma known as Rhometer, she was intrigued to see that Thyra was there. Before they thought anything rude of her to be just standing there and staring, Kara politely bade the three of them to enter her home and led them into the great hall (where they were greeted by the awesome statue of a Milotic that looked as though it was doing some sort of mystical dance and had been frozen in time).
"Not exactly what I expected, but since this is an emergency, I am grateful nontheless. Welcome to my home, Tachikawa mansion. Kuro is the only one I'm familiar with, but you other two are new to me. I'm sure you have some questions, and I will answer them in good time. My husband will be joining us shortly to discuss what's going on, so for the moment you can just wait around here until he arrives."
Kara then walked over to Kuro & did a respectful sort of bow, with a smile.
"Kuro... looking strong and valiant as ever. You've been doing a lot of training lately, haven't you? I am quite pleased to see you again. Just your being here brings back memories of old battles, and how I once had thought that I was part Saiyan - having had no knowledge of my true ancestory and that my parents had put a seal on me. 'Tis noble that fate smiled upon me that one day when I took hold of my great-grandfather's sword and unbound the seal on my power, though I still feel a powerful kinsmanship with the Saiyans. Ha... probably since I had adventures with Yoko so often (and yes, I know she was half-vampire, but she certainly embraced her Saiyan hertiage a lot more; don't forget her trademark stubborness like that of Prince Vegeta himself...LOL). It's awful that we should meet again under the current circumstances, but fate is a funny bastard."

OOC: Thyra is on the roof. BIC: Kuro's boots thudded on the ground as he stepped inside the mansion. It had been a long time since he had been in a building larger than his shack, so he couldn't help but look around in amazement at the place, especially at the odd statue. He nodded at Kara politely when she greeted him. "Yeah, I've spent the last few years just training and finding myself again. It's been hard since my brother disappeared, but that's another story," he said looking slightly downtrodden. "I'm really sorry about what happened though, I'll do whatever I can to help get your daughter back."

Rhometer sat on the bottom stair and watched the talky lady talking to the scary man in black. "She's a really talky lady," he would have proclaimed loudly to Higgledy Piggledy in a voice that would have echoed through the hall. Fortunately, Hig realized what he was going to say and turned down Rhometer's volume so that all that came out was a murmur.
"Not a very polite statement," Hig muttered in reply, "but perceptive. One wonders how she can find it in her to reminisce at such length if her child has indeed been kidnapped." Since she had offered to answer his questions in due time, Hig promptly set about compiling a mental list of ten questions:
(1) Has a child been kidnapped here today? (2) Who? (3) Is the child your [INSERT APPROPRIATE: son/daughter]? (4) Where was [INSERT APPROPRIATE: he/she] abducted? (5) Was a mirror involved? (6) If so, how? (7) Did you see the kidnappers? (8) Were they hooded? (9) What were you and your husband doing at the moment of abduction? (10) How can we be sure that the real parents haven't been abducted as well and that you aren't a shapeshifter planted here by the demons to AND HOOOOW about that long fishy fish over there it looks super supespicious says me!
"Once again Rhometer please don't bother me while I'm compiling lists."
"Yeah but the fish!" said Rho. "It's not moving a tall. I find it worrisome. No. I find it worryalot." From his spot on the staircase, Rhometer began to sing a little song. "Big big fishy big big fish, on your scales I make a--"
"No Rhometer. You are not bringing another marine animal to life on dry land."
Rho attempted to stare his shadow down, but since his shadow had no visible eyes, Rho was resigned to crossing his arms and pouting. "If I had a fun for every fun you don't let me have, I would have so much fun."

OOC: We'll just go with Kara sensing Thyra's chakra or such. Thyra has no training in hiding her aura, so she should be easy for somebody like Kara to pick up on. BIC: Upon hearing the friendly greetings, Thyra stood up from her hiding spot. She sheepishly dropped the stone, and tucked her sling away, hoping that none had noticed the weapon she had readied. Jumping lightly, she passed over the edge of the roof dropped to the ground below. "Thyra Russell, heir to the Russell estate and co-supervisor of the effort to rebuild Slateport. Pleased to make your aquaintance," Thyra bowed ever so slightly, and paused for a moment before returning to her regular posture. "So, your daughter was kidnapped? Did you file a report with the police, or is that what your husband's doing at the moment?" Thyra frowned slightly, glancing around the room that they were in. Anybody with a home like this... They had to at least have solid security, nevermind if they had powers to back it up. To get into the house and escape with the presumably unwilling daughter was no small task. OOC: Was Rhometer about to do an incantation from the Spells of the Unbound Chain? (Helen's original style) Also, yet again, not much to say here. Thyra's the far end of the caution spectrum, so yeah, not much to make her act on.

OOC: Sorry it's taken me so long to post. I've been real busy lately, and also been having an issue figuring out how to respond to your posts (gah... didn't realize Rho was so weird).
BIC:
Kara was surprised to learn from Kuro about his brother missing, but now wasn't the time to talk about that. And she wasn't sure what to think of Thyra, who seemed just a tiny bit rude somehow (hopefully that wasn't intentional). Then there was Rhometer, and Hig, the apparently sencient shadow... most peculiar indeed.
(to Thyra): "This matter isn't one the police can understand. Even I, with my experience with magical things, don't have a clue what's going on. All I know is that my daughter was taken by two strangers through some kind of portal in the mirror that's in my daughter's bedroom. And I assure you that the mirror in question is safe... no curses or other weird things about it. I'd say that this is the work of some powerful dimension-manipulating magic of some kind or another. Very bad stuff indeed. I have an odd idea of what or who might be behind it, but I'd prefer to keep that to myself since it's something you wouldn't understand. Rude, but I have my reasons. And since you're here, I guess that means the Help-Seeker summoning stone believed you to be a good choice of someone to help out.
(to Rho/Hig): "I suppose the Help-Seeker thought you'd be a good choice, as well. Welcome to the team."
Shortly after Kara had spoken to Rho/Hig, Serpentei arrived... dressed in his battle clothes and his long sky-blue hair tied neatly with a dark green band. Letting out a deep sigh, he approached Kara and their guests, bowed respectfully, and addressed them.
"Forgive my tardiness in not being here when you arrived. I've been a bit shaken up over what happened, and also wanted to be dressed for dealing with any danger we might encounter in trying to uncover the mystery of where my daughter's been taken. Ah, I see that there's two newcomers here. If you've never been to the Todoroki Isles before, then allow me to welcome you to our home... Kamineko Island. If you're familiar with all things pokemon, then you might know what this island's famous for - discovering the 5 evolved forms of Persian acquired via 5 special crystals. But enough of that. Let's all go into the dining room and sit down... then we can discuss out plans."
Kara: "Yes, let's get down to business at once."

"Don't worry. I'm not offended in the least by your withholding information at this moment. If I was more familiar with the situation, I might be upset, but currently I know barely anything about anybody present here. I've heard Zebedee mention a few of your names before, but only passingly," Thyra concluded, cocking her head ever so slightly. She then respectfully lowered her head as they went to speak to Rhometer, clearly thinking of something.
As they walked for the dining room, she held up her hand as if asking for permission to speak.
"I remember hearing a long time ago... Some old story. I don't remember if it was on a plaque in the museum or if some presenter at the library said it or such... I was only a tot when I heard it. Anyways, it stated that mirrors... reflections, rather, were really a world of identical beings, locked away after they tried to wage war on the real world, cursed to stay locked in mirrors until the end of time. However, I 'm guessing that the originator of the tale didn't like happy endings, because they said that someday, the reflections would break free again and carry out their revenge upon the world. I thought they also said something about fish being the first creatures to come through, but that seems even more irrelevant to the task at hand," Thyra concluded as she took a seat in the dining room.

Kuro was taking everything in, but without any leads he wasn't sure where to start. Kara seemed to have an inkling, but as she had said, she was keeping that to herself for the moment. Still, why would someone kidnap her daughter? There were too many questions and zero answers. "So where are we going to start?" Kuro found himself asking. "We need to get to work on this as soon as possible to reduce the likelihood that any harm comes to your daughter."

Sensing that this was a time for mature discussion, Higgledy Piggledy decided to give Rhometer some intellectual bone to chew on, the better to shut him up for a while. So, as they proceeded into the dining room, the shadow said quickly, "I have a question Rho."
"Question? Question! Go go go."
"Will you please explain to me why one parks in a driveway and drives in a parkway."
Rhometer's face fell. "Oh man, you always shut me up for while with that one!"
Satisfied, Higgledy Piggledy adjusted his shape as Rhometer sat down in a tall chair, and both awaited the next words of the hosts.

OOC: Sorry I've been so darn busy, guys. Let's get this alive again! Oh, and if anyone else on the board would like to join in this, they could just make it that their character was late...
BIC: Not long after everyone had seated themselves, when Kara was about to answer Kuro's question, there was the sound of a purring sort of growl emanating at the entrance to the room. Turning around, Kara's look of slight surprise transformed itself into warm delight as she saw that her most beloved pokemon was standing there... Embrosia the Dynalion*. Apparently, she wanted to be a part of this meeting despite not being able to communicate that well with the others. Kara beckoned to her to come forward, and the firey lion-like cat assumed a watchful pose beside Kara's chair. Sitting down once more, affectionately scratching behind Embrosia's ears for a moment, Kara spoke up:
"Where will we start? That's the hard part. If my suspicions could be correct, then we'll need some help in getting to where we need to go - Emerra, a.k.a. the Dark World. I aim to go to the land of my fellow Nintaku, the country known as 'Chikarakuni'. There we shall seek the assistance of a powerful and wise old sage who had been friends with my grandfather; it'll be up to him as to where we go next after that..."
OOC: "*" = Embrosia is from Pokeschool, but back in those days she was referred to as being called a "Catamount" (until I found out that it's another name for a Cougar; I could've kept it, but while re-defining what the 5 evolutions of Persian are, I decided that the fire type being like a lion made a lot more sense). If anyone would like a description of what she looks like, PM me...

Thyra leaned forwards, interlocking her fingers before her face. She carefully kept her elbows off of the table, sighing as she mused over the options. The entrance of the Pokemon caught her attention for a moment. She had never even heard of such a rare species, never mind seen it. If it wasn't for the gloom hanging over the room, she would have asked about it, but at the moment, more urgent matters were dominating the situation.
"Where exactly is this place? Is it hidden in this present reality, or tucked away on one of those alternate planes of existance everybody's always going on about? If it's merely some kind of physical barrier, I'm pretty sure I can call in some help to punch through to it..." Thyra brought her hands down, revealing a slight frown.
"On the other hand, if it's some sort of magical obstacle between it and ourselves, I don't have much way of helping. Most everybody in Whelkshore deals in science, not the mystic arts."

Kuro was at a loss for a plan, there just wasn't enough information about their destination to go off of.
He sat in silence for a moment as the pokemon came into the room. He had seen it once or twice before, but it always fascinated him how versatile the creatures could be to evolve in so many ways. Finally he spoke, "Thyra, I believe it'd be best to hold off on any plans since there just isn't enough information to go off of yet. If we need the sage's intel, we should go and collect that first." Turning his glance to the Nintaku he spoke to her, "Kara, how far is it to get to your nation? I have to say I've never been there."

"It isn't a matter of being far. Emerra is another dimension, remember? What we need to do is find someone who can open the gateway there. I would ask Yoko Kit Hara for that, but I sadly lost contact with her a while ago. Hell, I almost feel crazy enough to ask her mother Sun to help us, if it weren't for that Ku'nya being so damn untrustworthy and not to mention difficult to find. There's gotta be someone out there who can help... we just need to think of someone to ask and see where that leads us. It saddens me that so few of my old comrades keep in touch with me & my family anymore - even after all the battles we've fought in together."
Serpentei: "That be true. It's been rather dreary to have lost touch with so many of our great allies and friends. But I suppose that might be a good thing in a way... perhaps they've decided to retire from fighting and live out their days in peace. Who knows what's going on with them."
The pair looked troubled since they'd hit a fairly massive rut in their plans. How the heck were they going to open a portal into Emerra? And having lost contact with the friends who'd be able to do something about it made this even more vexing.
Kara: "Does any of you know how or of someone who knows how to open portals to other dimensions? That sage is our only hope right now of figuring out what's going on and where our daughter has been taken, and the only way to see him is to travel to Emerra..."

Kuro looked back at Kara rather nervously and with a sheepish laugh he said, "Ehhhh... I haven't really kept up with anyone at all over time. I live alone on my island, see..." His shoulders sank. Ever since his brother disappearance, he had isolated himself. He faded from the public life he had and became a shadow. He might not have even come at all, had the circumstances not been so dire.

OOC: Man, looks like I missed a round, sorry -- but Kara, I've got to say this: This RP really needs to get kicked into gear. We can't keep beating around the bush waiting to see if anyone else will show up. We've got to get the plot moving! Now I will step off my Prime pedestal and, well, I guess just have Hig step up on there and have him say the exact same thing.
"I must say I favor Thyra Russell's thinking so far," the shadow piped up from the floor. "She at least is asking some pragmatic questions. Kara, Serpentei if I may be so impolite I shouldn't think you two would be consulting a book of contacts with the child between you vanished."
Hig quivered in thought. "I would attempt to open such a portal myself but it is in my nature to close doors and Rho's to open them and I wouldn't advise a terrestrial being to pass through any portal Rho opened."
Rhometer didn't say anything, but swung his feet back and forth on the chair, frowning ponderously. Driving was something you did when you were trying to move in a direction, and parking was something you did when you were trying to stay still. So if you were driving, in a direction, going a particular way, then you would have a way of driving and obviously you would be going on a driveway but that couldn't be right because -- because Hig said the driveway was the place where you parked and if you were parking somewhere then it was a driveway but if you were parking somewhere then it was, oh, still a driveway but if you were driving somewhere then wouldn't you need to leave the driveway first? This just made no sense!

Serpentei didn't look too pleased to hear what Hig said about going through any portal opened by Rhometer, but as he went to say something about it, Kara abruptly stopped him and commented for herself.
"As insane and risky as it may seem, having Rhometer do that might be our only real option right now... if anything, just being able to get into that dimension would mean a lot. I've been there enough times to know how to get around should we be taken very far from our intended location. Hopefully it won't be someplace too awful, like smack dab in the middle of a Lyrian city or in a vampire encampment. Trust me, you certainly don't want to meet the Lyrians - they may be as numerous as humans are in this dimension, but they're certainly not friendly. Hell, I'd take a vampire over those bastards any day."

"I don't think we need to worry too much about the journey to Emerra itself," Thyra gently pushed out her seat, and stepped around it. She slid it back under the table quietly.
Wordlessly, she walked a decent distance away from the group. Measured steps counted out... One, two, three, four, five- The girl stopped abruptly, and stood completely motionless. She elevated her arms, even with her shoulders, and exhaled. Bursting out from the air around her, an white tint hovered. It quickly formed into a bubble, barely avoiding touching the table or any of the guests.
"There's only been one time in my entire life that something has been able to shatter this barrier, and that was a death-curse from a high ranking demon..." Thyra smiled ever so slightly, as close to a look of confidence as one was likely to get from her.
"I think I've got enough room for all six of us in here... Well, depending on how Higgledy-Piggledy actually exists, I guess. As long as the trip is fairly quick, I don't think anything could harm us." The doubt and sadness began to creep back in.
"It would have to be very swift, however. Otherwise, we'd run out of air pretty quickly with this many people in it." The sheer bubble collapsed out of existance again, seemingly drawing back into the girl's arms.
"Would that help any?"
