David rushed into action as Cloud got his bearings. The woman spun and flipped into the air, kicking at him. David rolled forward and sent a chop behind him, where she was landing. She blocked it quite easily, as if she had expected it. His sword sailed out of his hands and landed near Cloud. Before he knew it she had spun behind him; she ripped his sword from his back, then threw it away.
David didn’t care, now he was pissed. His hands ignited in white flame and he ran in, ducking a kick as he went. He threw a punch which connected with her stomach, making her double over in pain. His knee was waiting and he kicked up. It landed on target, smashing her nose. He spun and kicked back, and his foot landed in her stomach, sending her toward Cloud.

"Thank you Dave." Cloud said. Blue and green mist formed around him again, and his sword glowed a bright purple. "Eat this, you bitch! GAIBLADE!" he screamed, firing off a storm of energy-based steel at her.
To his great surprise, she survived, still coming toward him. She folded one of her blades and stabbed it into his right shoulder as she reached him, knocking him onto his back.
"AAAARGH!"
He kicked her off him, slamming her into the ceiling. "Bitch!" He rolled out from under her, connected his two swords, and slammed her back like a baseball toward Dave.

“My thanks to you too,” Dave replied as he ran toward the flying female. He jumped and kicked her in the stomach, sending her to the ground. He landed casually next to her as she miraculously got to her feet. There was blood running down her face, and she didn’t hold herself as elegantly as she did before.
She ran at Dave and attempted to slash him with her vambraces. Dave leaned to the side to dodge but his arm got cut in the process. It stung, but his adrenaline kept him going, as he literally ran up her body and wrapped his legs around her neck, before twisting and rolling back. Her neck snapped easily and Dave let go as he got to his feet. The woman lay dead on the floor.
“Ugh, you okay Cloud?” he asked, as he looked at his hands. They were still ignited in the white flame.

Cloud ripped out the fanblade from his shoulder. "Fine," he said. He walked over to the flung blade, and reformed his sword. He tossed the longsword back to David, along with the longsword he'd taken from his stash.
He looked at the dead woman, and picked up her body. "Fuck the stairs, they're probably booby-trapped too." He swung round and round before flinging the woman's body straight up, smashing a hole in the roof.
He jumped through it, then looked up at the blimp. Green light was flashing inside it. "The hell?" he said to himself. "Get up here, David."

Dave jumped up after Cloud. “You can call me Dave if you want.” He smiled as he looked up at the blimp. He frowned at the green lights -- what was up with that? -- and shrugged in response to Cloud's questioning look.
“What the hell is up with my hands?” Dave asked. They were still ignited; it was as though they wouldn’t turn off. “Here have this back,” Dave said as he tossed the longsword back to Cloud. “Might as well use these while I can.”
He laughed, then headed for the blimp, trying to work out how to get on it.

Cloud shrugged as he reattached the sword to his buster. "Like this," he said, motioning to the rope which tied the blimp down to the roof. It was quite a large rope, so Cloud jumped up onto it, and ran up it all the way to the blimp, at which point he simply pulled the door open and stepped into the pilot cabin.
"Nobody home." He heard a scream overhead, a voice yelling. "Shit."
He opened the hatch to the gas gridding, and climbed up the ladder and onto one of the walkways. A woman was suspended from the ceiling. She looked like a normal healthy woman in her late twenties, except for the fact that she was glowing green, and a young man beside her seemed to be absorbing the aura with great enthusiasm.
"Hey!" Cloud yelled. The mans head whipped around, and the first thing that caught Cloud were his eyes. Those terrifyingly red eyes, filled with loss and loathing. The man had two swords at his waist, both of the ninja variety. One of them felt... odd. Not evil, but not good either. Careful and cautious, more like, if Cloud could describe it as anything.
The man stood facing him, still absorbing the aura. "Hello, Cloud," he said slowly. "My name is Jake. One of the thirteen bladesmasters of the seventh order, kindly graced with the title of Lord of Blades."
Cloud was taken with his bearing: he dressed aggressively, with gauntlets and greaves adorning his figure. His spiked black hair was almost demonic, following the man's invisible aura to a sharp point at the top. The medium-length hair bore a startling resemblance to the gates of hell.
"What are you doing?" Cloud asked, keeping his voice firmly under control.
"What does it look like?" Jake asked. "I'm taking Gaia's power. Soon, I will control the immense energies of the planet itself. And no one will be able to hurt me again." This last sentence he muttered inaudibly under his breath. He fixed his eyes on Cloud. "I hope you're not going to do something stupid and heroic, like trying to stop me."

“He won’t, but I will,” a voice came from above, Dave had somehow gotten above them. He jumped down right next to Jake. “Why don’t you let the woman go, or do you like picking on people weaker than you?” Dave chuckled.

"Yes," Jake said, drawing one of his swords faster than Dave could possibly react. A red blade plunged into his heart, twisted, and was removed in less than half a second. Cloud's eyes only barely caught it all.
"DAVE!" Cloud yelled. "FUCK!"
He charged Jake, a sword in each hand, and brought both blades down on the demonic man. Jake moved around behind Cloud, a blur as he stepped aside, and slashed Cloud on the back, bringing him to his knees. "See? Stupid."
Jake looked at their pitiful figures. He held out his hand, beginning a much faster absorption of Gaia's energies. She screamed and writhed as her planet was torn from her. Her flesh was peeling off, revealing energies of unknown force underneath. And then, Gaia was gone. Cloud turned to look at Jake, only just able to move.
As Jake left, Cloud could clearly see the man's eyes glowing green.

Dave fell to his knees. There was a great gaping hole in his chest. He was shaking.
How was he not dead? This was impossible.
He looked across to Cloud, before his wound burst out with light. White energy surrounded him, and expanded before exploding outward. A small shield covered Cloud as everything around them was torn to pieces. Dave and Cloud landed on the roof, and the blimp exploded in intense white light.
Everything stopped.
It became quiet, and then Dave passed out, the hole in his chest, and heart, gone.

Cloud woke up, looking around. "Where--?"
He saw Dave. The hole in his chest was miraculously gone. "Huh?" Cloud uttered, confused.
A green orb floated down in front of his face. "What's this?" He asked, although he doubted he'd receive an answer.
<I am Gaia, use me as you see fit,> the orb said. A thin golden chain spreadout and wrapped around Cloud's neck. Quite suddenly he felt filled with new strength, and the wound on his back slowly healed.
"Ummmm," he said somewhat dimly. Then he shrugged and walked over to Dave. He lifted him into a fireman's carry, and walked slowly through the building. He couldn't see any sign of Jake. But he could hear sirens in the distance.
"Time for us to leave, I think," he said. He strapped Dave onto his bike and drove quickly away.
