In case you haven't yet read the welcome thread, welcome to Match Game 07! I have already posted the game summary there, and anything beyond that, I'll announce as we go along. Most of the changes I will be making will simply be to speed up the game, since I do not want this going for nearly as long as MG04 did. And now for the moment everyone's been waiting for, the ACTUAL opening of this year's game... Play the theme song while reading the following... and here we go! "Get ready to match the stars! Bulbs, Lugiasian, Lee Tupper, Kaz, Pohatu, and Psy Sneasel, as we play the star-studded, big-money *sign lights up* MATCH GAME 07! *stage lights come on, sign lifts away to ceiling* And here's the star of Match Game 07, Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeene Rayburn!" *Gene bows, waves to the audience* Gene: "Thank you! It's great having you all here!" *turns to panel, shakes hands with a few* *audience still applauding, cheering, theme music still playing* "We've got a brand new game today! So, let me introduce you all to the two teams! On Team 1, we have Kuroboom, Ocelot, Moonlit_Angel, and Aurora, and on Team 2, we have djkates, Pikachu, Pope, and SapphireVaporeon! Let's give them all a nice round of applause! *everyone does so* So, with everyone introduced, let's get right into the game. First up is Kuroboom, and here's his question!" "I think it's time to go buy a new computer," Sara said. "This one's got less memory than my *BLANK*!"Babs: Kuro, please post your answer. If you need help, you can try to get advice from your other teammates on the appropriate thread. Let's try to not have team discussion on every question though. I'd like this game to move along as quickly as possible. By the way, the opening to a typical show would be something like that seen in youtube.com/watch?v=jz_AI88Kf-Q . Also, we're seeing my first change to make the game faster. Rather than having the players choose A or B (their question), I'll randomly choose one.Kuro, I await your answer!

Gene: "Aha, not a bad answer at all! Goldfish aren't known to have a good memory, but let's see if our panel of dingbats was thinking along the same lines... Bulbs, what did you say? Bulbs: "I think it's time to go buy a new computer," Sara said. "This one's got less memory than my Toaster!" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Indeed, a toaster doesn't really have memory... Loogs, what do you have to say?" Loogs: "Grandma.....THIS IS NOT A ONE WORD ANSWER" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "No match there either... Lee, let's see your answer!" Lee: "I'm tempted to make a wisecrack about my computer, but that'd be like making fun of a retarded kid with three legs... Goldfish!" *bell dings, match, audience applauds and cheers*
Gene: "Our first match! Good job! Let's see if Kaz can give you a second." Kaz: "Calculator" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Now we move on to our camel friend, Pohatu!" Pohatu: "I think it's time to go buy a new computer," Sara said. "This one's got less memory than my abacus!" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Well, there's two counting devices in a row, but no match... Let's see what Psy Sneasel has to say!" Psy Sneasel: "Commodore 64! And for those of you who weren't around in the 80s, that's an old computer." *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Well, you got one match in Round 1, Kuro. Not bad at all for the first question of the first round of the first game! Now it's time for Team 2 to get their shot... djkates, here is your question!"
"Magikarp said, "It's really rough being such a weak Pokemon... But hey! At least I'm not as ugly as *BLANK*!"

Gene: "Purugly is not a bad answer at all! It does have ugly in its name... Bulbs, what do you have for us?" Bulbs: "Magikarp said, 'It's really rough being such a weak Pokemon... But hey! At least I'm not as ugly as a Potato!'" *buzzer, no match, Pohatu turns around and gives Bulbs a death glare*
Gene: "Hey, that's not nice! Loogs, what do you say Magikarp's not as ugly as?" Loogs: "YOUR MOM. Ohhhhh snap." *buzzer, no match, audience laughs*
Gene: "We're just rolling in the insults today... Lee, what say you?" Lee: "Magikarp, Magikarp, Magikarp, we don't hate you because you're weak or ugly. We just hate you due to carp related trauma in our infancies... Answer: You!" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Three panelists, and still no Pokemon-related answer... "Magikarp said, 'It's really rough being such a weak Pokemon... But hey! At least I'm not as ugly as *BLANK*!' ...Kaz?" Kaz: "Wang" *buzzer, no match, audience laughs* *Gene's facial expression freezes, he goes to sit down on the edge of the stage shaking his head, not sure whether he wants to laugh*
Gene: "Well, that wasn't exactly the answer I was expecting. Pohatu, do you have perhaps a more civilized response?" Pohatu: "Magikarp said, "It's really rough being such a weak Pokemon... But hey! At least I'm not as ugly as Magmortar! Which is seriously like the ugliest Pokemon evarz!! LOLOL" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Finally, a Pokemon response! Too bad it wasn't the same though. Let's see if Psy Sneasel has anything good to wrap up this question." Psy Sneasel: "Well, before I reveal my answer, I just want to say, Gene, that you are a scholar and a gentleman. Remember that as I give my answer. Magikarp said, 'It's really rough being such a weak Pokemon... But hey! At least I'm not as ugly as *Gene*!'" *buzzer, no match, eruption of laughter* *Gene acts like his telescopic microphone is a rocket launcher aimed at Psy Sneasel's head, laughing along the whole time*
Gene: "No matches there for djkates and Team 2, but we sure got our fill of insults. It's now time for Round 2... The score is 1-0 in favor of Team 1, and because of that, Team 2 is up and I'd like to give Pikachu his first question."
"Al said, "You can tell my neighbor Bill isn't a very smart person... I told him the other day to clean up his backyard and he walked out there carrying a *BLANK*!"
Babs: Pikachu, you may post as soon as you have your answer. Also, here's a second deviation from the game. I'm asking the trailing team to go first in Round 2 such that if they don't catch up, we can skip one question altogether, speeding things up yet again.

In situations like this I find we have to ask ourselves 'what would Kaz do?'
Then it hit me! A bar of soap!
Black eye FTW!
So yeah, I'll go with a bar of soap.

Gene: "Aha, a brilliant answer! Soap does clean things, but it's not something you'd use on a backyard... I hope. You need at least one match here. Bulbs, what did you say?" Bulbs: "Al said, "You can tell my neighbor Bill isn't a very smart person... I told him the other day to clean up his backyard and he walked out there carrying a ... well, let's just say his wife made him sleep on the couch for a week!" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Loogs, what have you got for us?" Loogs: "Mop and bucket. But hey, gotta love that fresh pine scent." *buzzer, no match, applause*
Gene: "That may not have matched, but it's another wonderful answer... Lee?" Lee: "Well, the Al I know lives in a houseboat, so I'm tempted to make a crack about merpeople, but nah... I've been too nautical already. Maybe it's these fish shaped cheese crackers I've been eating. Bungalo!" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Al said, 'You can tell my neighbor Bill isn't a very smart person... I told him the other day to clean up his backyard and he walked out there carrying a *BLANK*!'... Kaz, do you have a matching response?" Kaz: "Vacuum" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Another great response, but it just didn't work... Pohatu, have you a match for Pikachu?" Pohatu: "Al said, "You can tell my neighbor Bill isn't a very smart person... I told him the other day to clean up his backyard and he walked out there carrying a steamroller!" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Well, that's an interesting way to clean up... @_@ Anyway, we're down to Psy Sneasel. Pikachu, you need a match here to stay in the game." Psy Sneasel: "You know, I saw Bill the other day, and he was out in my yard practicing his parries and thrusts with a foil. I asked him what he was doing, and he told me he'd heard good fencers make good neighbors. Mop." *buzzer, no match* *bell starts dinging rapidly, music starts playing, Team 1 is celebrating*
Gene: "I'm a little surprised nobody said soap... Anyway, congratulations Team 1! With a score of 1-0, you'll be moving on to the Super Match here in Game 1. Team 2, we'll see you again in a little bit. Give them a round of applause, everyone!" *applause, Team 2 spins off stage, Super Match comes around*
Gene: "Well, it looks like it's time for the part of the show where you can win the most money! You already won @100 for winning Game 1, but you can win over @10,000 more here in the Super Match! Instead of the usual questions, here, you will be simply filling in the blank, trying to find the most frequently given responses by the studio audience we polled. The most common response is worth @500, the second most is @250, and the third most is worth @100 if you match it. So, without any further delay, let's see the first Super Match question!"
*cover quickly slides out to reveal the puzzle, bell dings* THAT'S A____
Gene: "Ocelot, please give your response as soon as you decide on one."
Babs: Pretty much anything can go in the blank for a Super Match question. It's often a single word or continuation of the existing word, but it may be multiple words as well. The example I gave to the panel was "FIRE____", which could have responses such as "-FLY", "AND WATER", and "HOSE". For the regular Super Match questions, I asked each panelist to provide three unique responses for each question, resulting in 18 total responses for each question. Of those, the answer that appeared most is worth @500, the next @250, and the third @100. In case of any ties, the first alphabetically will get the higher position. Since answers can only appear 1-6 times, it's very likely there will be some ties.
Soooo, Ocelot, you may confer with your team if you'd like, or if you feel fairly confident, please post your response to THAT'S A____ .
Sorry for the delay there... I wasn't entirely expecting to be able to skip a question altogether, so that jumped us right to the Super Match... which I hadn't yet sent out to the panel! I'll try to not let something like this happen on a regular basis, but don't panic if it does.

Gene: "No match there... Let's take a look under the @250 response!" *cover slides out to reveal "BAD IDEA"*
Gene: "Ooooooh, nothing there either, so it's all or nothing! Let's see the @500 response!" *cover slides out to reveal "WRAP"* *buzzer, audience is disappointed*
Gene: "Well, it doesn't look like you had any luck with that question, Ocelot. Your team still has a chance to score in the Super Match, and that will be with the second question! M_A, here's yours!" *cover slides out to reveal ____SHIRT*
Babs: M_A, you may post once you decide on your answer. Also note, only the top response got more than one panel answer. The other two were first alphabetically. Must have been a tough one...

Gene: "YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT! *laughs* Ok, in all seriousness, let's take a look under the @100 answer!" *cover slides out to reveal "POLO"*
Gene: "There's a good and logical answer! But, it's not the one you're looking for. Now let's take a look under the @250 response!" *cover slides out to reveal "DRESS"*
Gene: "Still nothing there for you, M_A... Cross your fingers, here comes the @500 response!" *cover slides out to reveal "T-"* *buzzer, audience is disappointed*
Gene: "Oh no! Two Super Match questions and no matches! Well, you did give a good answer, but unfortunately, it didn't score. Regardless, Team 1, you've got yourselves @100 from winning Game 1. Game 2 is on its way, but before we get there, it's time for these commercial messages." *music plays, fade to black*
Babs: Well, since neither player scored in the Super Match, we're going to bypass the Head to Head Match, sending us right into Game 2. Unfortunately, while I *did* send out and receive everyone's Head to Head Match responses, I didn't yet send out Game 2's questions. I'll get to that tonight and once I receive everyone's answers, I'll resume the game. Pope will be first up for Team 2.

The answer to this question is as clear as day, and I'm sure at least 45.6078447% of the judges WILL indeed agree with this answer: Jill said, 'I think my son watches way too many game shows... When I asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year, he told me he wanted a *Bob Barker*!'" Answer: Bob Barker, what young, game show watching adolescent wouldn't want one of those? I know I do.

Gene: "Aha, Bob Barker! Another brilliant game show host." *everyone laughs at the self-promotion* Gene: "What?! I know Bob, and he truly is a wonderful person. Let's see how many of the panelists went with him. Bulbs?" Bulbs: "Jill said, 'I think my son watches way too many game shows... When I asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year, he told me he wanted a *chance to win 1,000,000 dollars*!'" *holds up pinky to mouth like Dr.Evil* *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "What good is a chance to win a million dollars? Everyone knows the actual thing is a lot better. :-p Loogs, what do you have to say?" Loogs: "Little Chris reeeeeally loves his Match Game. He can't bear to miss even one episode. He even hosts his own version on a forum somewhere, if I'm not mistaken. So when she asked him what he wanted, he told her he wanted a Sony ECM-51 microphone, so he can be just like Gene." *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "What a brilliant thing to say!" *plays with his telescopic microphone* "This certainly would make anyone look like a game show host. Lee, do you have anything to follow this great answer?" Lee: "Well, I've always been a bit of a triviahead, as my calloused buzzerthumb can attest, so I'll say a "Ken Jennings Action Figure". *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Another brilliant game show personality. I know I'd like one of those. :-p 'Jill said, 'I think my son watches way too many game shows... When I asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year, he told me he wanted a *BLANK*!' ...Kaz?" Kaz: "ho ho ho he wanted what every child wants, a spinner !!! hahahah" *pulls out a flower and eats it* *buzzer, no match* *everyone in the studio gives Kaz a weird look, many are laughing*
Gene: "I won't even pretend to understand what just happened right there. Pohatu, do you have something more... comprehensible?" Pohatu: "Jill said, 'I think my son watches way too many game shows... When I asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year, he told me he wanted a life-sized inflatable Regis Philbin doll!'" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "...Regis?! x.x Aaaaaanyway, Psy Sneasel, let's see your answer." Psy Sneasel: "You know, I miss the old days, when game shows were game shows and plaid suits were plaid suits. "Jill said, 'I think my son watches way too many game shows... When I asked him what he wanted for Christmas this year, he told me he wanted a *telescopic microphone*!'" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Well, we got two telescopic microphones, two dolls/action figures, a chance at a million dollars, and a spinner, but no Bob Barker. Looks like Team 2 can only do better in Round 2." *takes Question B from its slot* Gene: "Here's B for Aurora on Team 1..." "Everyone here knows Snorlax, right? Well, I've got a quote from him... Snorlax said, 'Yes, I know I'm massive... every time I *BLANK*, something breaks...'"

D'ya know.. Oh forget the damn speech.
I'm going with FART

Bulbs: "Everyone here knows Snorlax, right? Well, I've got a quote from him... Snorlax said, 'Yes, I know I'm massive... every time I *Blink*, something breaks...'" *hits microphone on table* *buzzer, no match* Gene: "Why are you beating up on that poor microphone? Loogs?" Loogs: "Poor Snorlax. He should really look into that gastric bypass surgery everyone's getting these days. Every time he *stretches*, something breaks!" *buzzer, no match* Gene: "That's not a bad answer! It's not what Aurora said though... Maybe Lee's got a match?" Lee: "I'm betting I can already guess that saying "fart" is the best answer, but I have to go with "dance". Pun intended!" *buzzer, no match* Gene: "Aww, so close! Close doesn't count in Match Game, though... Kaz?" Kaz: "Everyone here knows Snorlax, right? Well, I've got a quote from him... Snorlax said, 'Yes, I know I'm massive... every time I *BLANK*, something breaks...' Well ever since the doctor diagnosed me with bi-polar disorder I guess I have tooo * begins to shake* grrrrr "everytime I see your face !!!! is the answer." *buzzer, no match* Gene: "...Moooooooving on! Pohatu, what do you have to say?" Pohatu: "Everyone here knows Snorlax, right? Well, I've got a quote from him... Snorlax said, 'Yes, I know I'm massive... every time I turn around without activating my turn signal, something breaks...'" *buzzer, no match* Gene: "Another perfectly logical response, except, you know, that Snorlax apparently has a turn signal. :-p Psy Sneasel, what say you?" Psy Sneasel: "*break dance* Just picture it. I'm telling you, it's a great image." *buzzer, no match* Gene: "Aww, no match here either! There were some good responses here though. Anyway, it's time for Round 2, and since neither team matched in this round, I'll have the challenging Team 2 go first. SapphireVaporeon, here is your question!" Erika said, "After retiring as a Gym Leader, I decided to open up a Pokemon salon... I don't think I have the patience for it though. A *BLANK* came in the other day and it took me four hours!"

Well, if she doesn't have the patience for something that takes her four hours to finish, seems to me it's a pretty obvious personal problem. *scoff*
But whatever. I'm going to have to say a Magikarp.

Gene: "That's not a bad answer... Magikarp doesn't exactly have a lot of hair, but is that what the panel first thought of? Let's take a look. Bulbs, what have you got for us?" Bulbs: "Erika said, 'After retiring as a Gym Leader, I decided to open up a Pokemon salon... I don't think I have the patience for it though. A {rotten little hell spawn claiming to be a boy} came in the other day and it took me four hours!'" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Well, that's somewhat of a logical answer, but it seems you've failed to take note of Pokemon! Loogs, what is your answer?" Loogs: "A hippie Tangela. Had long, grimy vines growing since Woodstock!" *buzzer, no match, audience applauds/cheers*
Gene: "Aha! The definitive response! Tangela is well known for having a lot of... vines? Surely that would take forever at a salon. Anyway, let's see what Lee said." Lee: "I'm unfamiliar with salons, but if they're anything like a Pharmacy, I know all about them. No? Crap. Answer: 'Tangela' (What else?)" *buzzer, no match, more applause*
Gene: "Still no Magikarp, but we did get two Tangela so far... Kaz, you're up." Kaz: "Sasquatch" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Again, an understandable answer, but that's got nothing to do with Pokemon! Pohatu?" Pohatu: "Erika said, 'After retiring as a Gym Leader, I decided to open up a Pokemon salon... I don't think I have the patience for it though. A *Voltorb* came in the other day and it took me four hours!'" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "What, did Erika just not know where to start? I'd have given up after about a minute. :-p Psy Sneasel, wrap this question up for us." Psy Sneasel: "You know, my barber retired recently, so I haven't had a haircut since Christmas; I think I am going to have to go in for rabies shots and a dog tag soon if I don't get one. Tangrowth." *buzzer, no match, applause*
Gene: "SV, it appears you've missed a good opportunity here to score some points... Now the outcome of Game 2 rests on whether or not Team 1 can score a match with this question. If not, we'll have to go into a tiebreaker. This question will go to Ocelot."
"Frank must be the world's worst cook... Instead of using pasta and meat to make stuffed shells, he went to the store and bought *BLANK*!"
Babs: I'm giving this question to Ocelot and not Kuro because Kuro's first turn up was a regular question. Ocelot's first turn was a Super Match question. I'd rather not have one person get only the same type of responsibility. I'd also like to remind everyone that you're allowed to convene with your team to discuss answers before posting them! I don't know if it's because few people are familiar with Match Game, if my questions are weak, or what the deal is, but there really are not many matches happening, and that's disappointing. Don't worry about holding the game up. Unless you know you've got a great answer, use the appropriate threads to consult your teammates. I'd rather see better answers and people having more fun than just speeding through the game.

Instead of using pasta and meat to make stuffed shells, he went to the store and bought *Oysters and Turkey stuffing*!" (that actually sounds good)" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Oysters aren't a bad answer, but not the one Ocelot's looking for. What do you say, Loogs?" Loogs: "Never had stuffed shells... but if I did, I wouldn't ask Frank to make them, because he uses snails! Ewwww." *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Another brilliant answer, but again, not the one Ocelot's looking for. Lee, what say you?" Lee: "As Emeril will tell you, he got "Ammunition"! BAM!" *buzzer, no match*
Gene: "Aha, a different kind of shells! Still no turtles though... Kaz, what's your answer?" Kaz: "My dog loves this stuff " *pulls out a can of wet dog food* *Kaz opens it and is mauled by 20 dogs*" *buzzer, no match*

Gene: "Finally, a match! Congratulations Ocelot! Team 1 will again be heading to the Super Match! But, before we get there, let's see what Psy Sneasel had as his response." Psy Sneasel: "You know, I'm pretty handy in a kitchen myself, but my grandmother, not so much. She uses the smoke alarm as her oven timer. I'm not even kidding. Anyway...."Frank must be the world's worst cook... Instead of using pasta and meat to make stuffed shells, he went to the store and bought *fiberglass*!"
Gene: "Sorry, Team 2... Hopefully you'll do better in Game 3. We'll see you again in just a short bit." *platform spins around, revealing the Super Match* "Well, Team 1, you win @100 for winning Game 2, and now you have a chance to pick up over @10,000 more in the Super Match. Kuro, you will be first up, so please give your best response to this!"
SWEEPING____
