OOC: This is the RP we worked on this weekend. In keeping with what we did last year, Lee's in white, Shoni's in Blue, Cendra is in black, and I'll be in yellow. May I recommend the Pohatu skin for reading this RP? The blizzard howled outside the door of the convenience store, the snow shimmering golden in the morning sun. A mall figure approached the entryway, their features obscured by an immense crimson coat trimmed in midnight black fur. They shook the snow from their shoulders, kicking a white spray into the air.
They braced their heels and pulled the door open with a soft grunt of exertion.
A moment later, they let out a delight shriek, and flew across the room, bowling into a bewildered youth with shaggy white hair.
"Flint!" She shouted, her face still obscured by the hood of her coat, "It's been far too long!"Belwyn's arm was frozen in place, her hand still offering Flint a can of soup from before their sudden interuption.
"Flint... Do you know this girl?" She queried, looking between the two.Flint seemed slightly puzzled by the sudden appearance of the young stranger in the crimson coat, and even moreso that she had tackled him.
"Honestly, I have no memory of this person, so I don't think I know them," He responded. Then he turned back to look at the girl who had still pinned him to the ground in a rib crushing hug.
"Who are you?" He asked.*CLICK*
A flash of light lit up the whole scene for a nanosecond.
"Picture perfect!" A young woman said, hopping up and down. She was wearing a sparkling, hot pink ski suit. A Polaroid camera was in her right hand, and her other hand had occupied itself with shaking the developing picture.
"This picture is adorable! Would you guys like it? I can't make copies, but if you want, you can recreate the scene, and I'll take another, so you can both... Awww, crap," The woman looked down, clearly dismayed.
"My finger was in the way, but you can have it anyways," She smiled brightly once more, "I'm Emily! Would either of you like a gummy worm?"
Near instantly, Emily had tucked the camera away, and had produced a bag of gummy worms from somewhere on her person."I'm," The newcomer paused to dramatically shrug her hood down, revealing her face. She had a rich, dark complexion and wildly curly hair that fell in wreath around her head. Her eyes stood out, a vivid shade of electric blue that glimmered with enthusiasm. She began to speak again, but before she could announce her name, she bounded her feet.
"Ooh, gummy worm!" She held out a mitten clad hand expectantly. Emily flicked one of the sugary annelids into her palm. The girl flipped the confection into the air, and caught it in her mouth.
"I'm..." She paused to masticate for a moment, "I'm Didn't N!Qweba!" The girl declared proudly.
Didn't leaned over the fallen Flint, tucking her hands behind her back.
"You're shorter than I remember, Flint.""Shorter?" Flint questioned.
"Exactly how old are you, that you saw me when I was shorter? And what kind of name is Didn't?"
"Wait. Shorter. That means that you saw me when I was taller. You are beyond crazy," Flint stood up, and walked over to Belwyn, "Do you know either of those people?"
Finally noticing the proffered gummy worms, Flint shoved his hand into the bag. He took a fistful, and shoved them into his pocket. Emily's jump suit was eyecatching, but sickening, and she seemed far too happy. Didn't was way too delighted to see him. He took a few more steps away from them, and then noticed the can of soup that the shocked Belwyn still held in her hand.
"What kind is that?"Belwyn took the picture from Emily with a smile.
"Thanks! I'm Belwyn," She shook the pink clad girl's hand, then turned and did the same to Didn't.
"Well. Flint, we know them now. And by the way, it's cream of mushroom soup," She said to Flint. She then headed proceeded to the counter to purchase their previously selected items for the long journey ahead."I know both of those people now!" Didn't said to Flint, seemingly missing his direction of the question to Belwyn. Didn't curtsied to the two ladies in greeting.
"I had met Belwyn before this, and she's really talented and strong and cool and a great healer!"
"And Didn't is the name I've always had! Nobody else has it, so I really like it!" Didn't tilted her head, the furs rustling around her.
"So, why are you guys here? Where are you guys going with all of those groceries?"Flint pulled black bandages, that were wrapped tightly around his torso, up until his nose was covered. It was traditional wear for his people, garb that would help protect them in the snow and make it so that they'd stand out clearly to eachother in the winterscape that was their home. A small grey sliver appeared in each eye, disrupting the cold, icy blue.
"We are going to a place that hasn't been inhabited for years. It's kind of like ruins, but very few people know that they exist. I'm looking there, for something that could be valuable. I just don't really know what it is, yet.""Sounds like tons of fun!" Emily squealed. "I do love adventures!"
She swung a backpack off of her shoulder. She zipped it open, revealing a display of canned soups, granola bars, and beef jerky.
"And look! I'm already prepared. How long until everybody else is ready?"Belwyn blushed at Didn't's praise. She turned from restocking their first aid supplies.
"You've seen me heal? she said quietly, a little uncomfortable that someone she know well had seen something so personal about her without her knowledge.
"Thanks, I guess," She shifted her feet a bit, then turned to don her white winterwear.
"I'm all set, Flint. You should stop giving out personal information. It's dangerous around here, you know."Well, yeah, of course I saw you heal! You're famous! People come from all over the world to see you!" Didn't put her hand firmly her own hip.
"They call you the Maiden of a Million Miracles, and you've even saved the President! I mean, that is who you are, right? Belwyn Truid?"
She turned to Emily.
"I'm ready to get going any time now. In fact, my friend is probably getting antsy, after standing out in the snow for so long. So we should get going to the ruins before who comes through the wall like the Kool-aid man."A confused Belwyn stood by the door. Sure, that was her name, but she most certainly didn't do any of the things the strange girl had described. She felt like anything but a miracle worker.Emily threw one arm around Belwyn, and one around Didn't.
*Click!* A bright flash blinded the trio.
"Yay! We'll have our before picture! Let's see what we look like after," She laughed, shaking the picture vigorously.
"Here, Didn't, this one's yours!" Emily then pulled a scarf tightly around her neck, and just over her nose, and marched out into the frigid air.Watching the others make their way to the door, Flint headed towards the back exit. He turned towards Belwyn as an afterthought and muttered, "I just need to pick up a few things. I'll be out in a minute."
Upon reaching the back, Flint slipped through the exit door. He put on a black parka, the icy wind swirling around him.
"You the guy who called me?" A man in a heavy coat with lapels high enough to hide his face growled from the shadows behind the store.
"Yes..." Flint said, hesitantly.
The man reached into his coat, and produced two sheathed knives and a pair of holstered handguns.
"They're all clean of prints without any registration," The man reached into his pocket, and produced a heavy but small cardboard box.
"Your bullets, too," The man kept the box in one leather-glove clad palm, holding the other one out expectantly, "That'll be five-thousand kroner."
Flint nodded, and reached into his pocket, producing a rumpled wad of bills. It was pretty much all he had, but a deal was a deal. He passed the money to the man in exchange for the ammunition.
The man grunted, thumbed through the bills once, and pocketed them. Without so much as a thank you or a goodbye, he turned to walk away.
Flint's hand instinctively darted to one of the knives and undid the button holding it into its sheath. The slivers of grey in his eye began to expand, and he took half a step towards the man who was leaving with his money.
In midstep, he stopped, stumbling slightly. He bit down on his lip, and shivered, despite not feeling cold. The man turned his neck slightly, glancing at Flint.
"Problem?"
"Nn- no, not at all," Flint choked out, forcing his hand away from the blade. The man continued walking away at a slightly faster clip, soon vanishing from sight.
After a few deep breaths, Flint managed to resheath the knife. He quickly tucked it inside his jacket, strapping in the sheaths and holsters of various weapons.
"I need to get there as soon as possible," He whispered quietly to himself as he hurried back through the store to catch up to the others.OOC: That's where we'll break for now. We're just under a third of the way in, and things only get more complicated from here! We'll see you tomorrow in the next installment of "Flint and Steel"!

"Thank you, Emily!"
Didn't held the picture up before her with her eyes wide open. After another manic grin, she fondly tucked it away into a pouch over her stomach.
She twirled around the door, out into the snow. After a moment of the flakes plastering her eyelashes and blanketing her curls, she flipped her hood up to shelter her face. Didn't giggled quietly from the fur tickling her cheek.
Soon after Didn't had stepped outside, there was a series of loud noises from behind the corner of the store. Thud-thud, thud-thud, thud-thud, the ground shook with impacts reminiscent of loud bass speakers playing. A huge shaggy head poked around the side of the building, a large horn like a scimitar jutting upwards from its snout. It cantered up to Didn't, its woolly bulk easily larger than any vehicle in the parking lot. The beast nuzzled her hand with surprising delicacy, and then exhaled immense clouds of steam that turned into frosted clouds in midair.
"Yorick!" Didn't shouted, tackling the woolly rhinoceros by the horn. It tossed its head lightly, enough still to lift her completely off the hoary pavement.
"Everybody, meet Yorick! He loves sugar cubes!"Belwyn was a little taken aback by Emily's familiarity, but at the same time, also found some enjoyment in it. She didn't know many people that would treat her like that; in fact, come to think of it, the was only one other person who would.
The cold wind chilled what skin wasn't covered by the green scarf wrapped around Belwyn's face. A rhino covered in curly fur wasn't exactly what she'd been expecting to see when she exited the small store.
Belwyn couldn't resist a smile as Didn't introduced her strange pet/friend.
"I've never seen a creature quite like this before!" Belwyn's excited tone was muffled by the scarf covering her mouth.
"Would it be alright to pet him?" She asked timidly. The snow crunched under Flint's foot as he stepped outside. The cold air met his face like a wall. Flint was surprised when the chill suddenly dispersed even though the temperature hadn't risen. He pulled his hood over his head, and observed the odd beast that stood before him. Its sheer size reminded him of the lion that he fuzzily recalled from his recent past. Old bruises, all but healed, throbbed slightly at the memory of that fight. Flint found himself unsettled by the thought, but quickly shook off the feeling as he walked towards the group.
"Are both of you coming with us?""Sure! He's as tame as a kitten. Or actually, tamer than one," Didn't let go of the huge horn, and pirouetted back several steps.
"And I'm always up for adventure! I haven't been to ancient ruins in..." Didn't paused, her lips working as she mulled over how long it had been.
"Quite some time!" She concluded brightly."Of course I'm coming!" Emily giggled.
"Why would I be in this freezer if I, well, it's really, yes! It will be oodles of fun!" Emily proceeded to braid a clump of Yorick's fur. She pulled a small bow from her pocket to finish it. "You know, by the end of the journey, I might get him fully braided!"Belwyn sunk her previously gloved hand into the warm brown fur.
"Well, hello there, gentle giant," She leaned in close, nuzzling against his neck with her nose. The scent reminded Belwyn of a horse's mane, clean fur with the warmth of a powerful body beneath.
"I guess having you along would improve the morale of the trip," She giggled as Yorick nudged her, throwing her slightly off balance.
"Alright, alright. I see you're getting restless. Let's be on our way, then.""Okay, hop on!" Didn't shouted, tapping Yorick lightly on his snout. He bowed low, his nose to the snowy ground. The girl stepped lightly using his head as a makeshift stairway. She hitched up her coat and skirts around her knees to avoid snagging on his smaller, secondary horn. Didn't spun on her heel, and let her feet drop out from under her. She landed astride the beast's shaggy neck.
A moment later, she felt a slight jolt as Emily cartwheeled onto the rhino's sturdy back. Both of them turned slightly, and each offered Belwyn a hand. They assisted her in the clamber onto the beast's mountainous shoulders. The healer turned to sit side-saddle, adjusting her sheathed blades at her waist so that they wouldn't prod her newfound friend. The pile of girls that had situated themselves on the rhino made it appear slightly crowded despite its large size. Flint reached into his back, and produced a long rope. He walked to the front of the rhino and then tied the rope to its horn. Returning to the back, he snagged a snowboard that was leaning against the wall of the building, and threw it onto the ground. He buckled his feet in, and then grabbed the end of the rope. Flint gave Didn't a thumbs up.
I don't know whose board this is, but it's mine now, Flint thought. "Hold on tight!" Didn't whooped, and kicked her heels. Yorick heaved forwards, quickly accelerating to a brisk trot. His fur rustled in the howling winds, stroking against his riders. They rapidly departed the fringe of town, the stark grey boxes of the city buildings dwindling behind them.
"This is the right way guys, right? I just picked the direction that the huge, dark cloud is in."
Didn't waved with a mitten clad hand, a chopping motion indicating the path ahead of them. Through the swirling whiteness, at the edge of the horizon, an immense, roiling black cloud of smoke arose. “That's the place.” Belwyn affirmed. “It's a good thing it's so visible. It would have to be some storm to cover that.”
“So tell me, when was it that we met? I can't say I remember you and I would think that I would have had we met before.” Didn't paused for a moment, rocking back and forth with the motion of their steed.
"I met you a while ago, when I still had Boeskorov with me. I'd think you would remember him! He was this big, fluffy white house cat, and he was really friendly."
With a noncommittal shrug, Didn't added, "Also, he glowed in the dark."
"When I met him, he'd been hit by a car and lost a paw, so I took him to you to see if you could take care of him."Didn't's explanation only puzzled Belwyn more. She certainly could not remember a cat that glowed in the dark.
“He sounds adorable.” She said with a small smile. “It's a pity he's not here to snuggle with now. No?” Though their meeting still perplexed her a bit Belwyn decided to change the subject.
“Wanting to help the hurt shows you have a kind heart. Are there many more animals you watch over?” "It really is a pity! But I'd bet that even he would get cold in weather like this!"
Didn't seemed taken aback by the question.
"There's..." Didn't started counting on her fingers despite her mittens, "There's Yorick, and Boeskorov, and Jacobi, and Donkin, and Gabble, and..." She trailed off.
"There's a lot of them, but for some reason, I only can have one of them with me at a time. I tried keeping a whole bunch with me, but no matter what, whenever I wake up, I only have one of the ones with me from the day before. The rest always go off and do their own thing."“Well, it's good to have friends in many places. Perhaps they will know when you need them most.” Belwyn said thoughtfully."I never thought of it that way! That's a good point!" Didn't sat up straighter, proud of her new point of view.
"Speaking of friends and needing people, I was wondering about you and Flint. I didn't know that the two of you were friends. So why are you here? You were helping him before Emily and I even showed up."Belwyn glanced back at the snowboarding youth with a thoughtful expression.
“We met not too long ago and were in a group with a couple of others for a while, but they went their way and we went ours. I guess we're just good traveling companions for each other.” Turning back toward Didn't, she continued.
“I'm not quite sure if we're friends or not yet. He's pretty reserved when it comes to his past or what he's thinking. Not that I'm one to talk I suppose.” she shrugged and began to play with some of the straight black hair that had come loose from under her white hood.
“He was going this way and didn't have anywhere I needed to be, so I guess it just happened this way. Who knows, maybe one day he'll open up. I don't think he hates me at least. That's better than I can say about some.”
“So what about you? Why did you tag along on this snowy journey?""Ahhh..." Didn't nodded sagely, "Yeah, I didn't want to mention it, but he seems like a lot more of a jerk right now then the last time I met him. It's weird, though..." The girl bit her lip, "It comes and goes. Sometimes, he's just a kid, and others..."
She glanced back. Flint was shredding effortlessly across the snowscape, hitting humocks and ramping off of them into spinning jumps. It was evident he was enjoying himself greatly.
Didn't shrugged.
"Maybe I'm just worrying myself over nothing."
"I tagged along because... Well, why not?" Didn't smiled hard enough that her eyes closed, "I just go where ever life takes me, and help whoever I can. It's hard to plan for where I'm going day to day, so I just make the best of it."Belwyn nodded.
“I know how moving around allot can be. Hopefully you'll be with us for a while.”Didn't smiled faintly, and seemed to shake her head ever so slightly, though it could have just been the motion from Yorick's rolling gait.
"Hopefully, yes." Emily buried her hands in Yorick's woolly brown fur. She exhaled happily, overjoyed to be on her way to a new adventure. She closed her eyes, and memories swirled through her mind like the snow in the sky.
Emily was suddenly back in her hometown. The smell was cinnamon buns: freshly baked and newly iced, waiting to cool. The bread was just baking and she could hear the door bell ring as customers came into the bakery.
A snowflake landed on her nose, snapping her back into reality.
Belwyn had shifted her position, having turned to face the opposite direction. Didn't had lowered her hood once more, and had pushed farther towards the head, changing her stance to put more weight on her knees. Emily glanced back over her shoulder. Flint was still snowboarding, but in contrast to his prior Mountain Dew commercial enthusiastic thrashing, he was looking quite bored.
"Would anyone like a granola bar?†Emily pulled her bag open, “I have a ton."
"How long has it been, Didn't?"
The girl turned and gave her a look like a dog that had been asked to do a math problem. Her face displayed an enthusiastic and friendly complete lack of comprehension.
Belwyn offered a solution, glancing toward the sun to gauge where it stood in the sky.
"It's been about two and half hours.""You almost finished braiding Yorick, too," Didn't noted, turning at her waist. Emily had been subconsciously fiddling with her hands, and had managed to produce a multitude of hair ties, clips, ribbons, scrunchies, barrettes, twist ties, and bread bag tags to secure the braids.
Nodding with approval, Didn't turned back to face their destination. The dark expanse of smoke had grown to ridiculous proportions, blotting out the sky and devouring a portion of the horizon. Occasional orange flames guttered through the miasma, casting an odd glow over their little group.
White, sloping hills with jagged, icy pinnacles jutted up from the earth like the teeth of an immense, slumbering predator.
"Flint, this is where you said we should go. Which way now?"Letting go of the rope, Flint kicked up a wake of snow and skidded to a stop. He undid the buckles of his board, and stepped off.
"This should be the place. We need to find the entrance to the tunnels that will take us into the ruins. The Gelhaim hid the entrance somewhere in these hills."
A loud roar echoed across the hills as he finished his sentence.
"We should find it before whatever that is finds us."Belwyn carefully slid off of the beast's back, her feet sending up little puffs of snowflakes as she landed.
"So, what should we be looking for? Did they leave any clues?""We should look for gloves! That one Orange Juice guy was a murderer, and they found him because he left a glove behind. And all of these people were assassins, sooo there should be millions of gloves here!" Emily offered. Despite the frigid cold, it almost sounded like a cricket chirped in response.
"Or maybe we should look for welcome mats?" Emily paused, licking at her slightly chapped lips. She unbuttoned a pocket above her collarbone, and smeared on some chapstick.
"Wait, that won't work. There's too much snow for us to see a welcome mat."
Emily rolled off of the rhino's back and landed silently in a crouch."Maybe we should listen for how the wind howls across a gap. Like when you blow on a bottle and it whistles," Didn't suggested.
She pushed herself to her feet, and then skied down the side of the rhino. Her coat whipped around in the wind as she landed.
There was a loud, rumbling crunching from the other side of the hills, growing deeper and more resonant. It sounded like a multitude of people walking through the snow, albeit with the noises suggesting much larger individuals.
"We should listen quickly," Didn't intoned.OOC: One third left to go, and things really heat up in the last portion before we resume the writing. Wait, can things heat up if an RP is in a blizzard?

Flint walked to the top of the nearest hill and began to look around. The hills seemed to stretch out in all directions, only broken by a large, fiercely smoldering active volcano. Flint exhaled chokingly, his hands clenching involuntarily. The grey sliver in his eye expanded until it had overtaken the entirety of his iris.
He cast a disdainful glance over his shoulder, seeing the others searching the hillsides for an entrance. Knowing that he was out of an earshot, he began chuckling, a deep, rumbling laugh that seemed out of place coming from Flint's teenage body.
"Flint will never find the entrance, and the rest of them have an even smaller chance."
Zagaroth leaned over, and began drawing runes in the snow. Similar runes glowed slightly off in the distance. He checked over his shoulder to see if anybody had noticed him wandering away, and then walked over towards where the runes had glowed.
The symbols marked an ice shelf that covered the entrance to the tunnel, concealing it completely. Zagaroth reached into his bag, a produced a bloody chunk of meat. He unwrapped it from the plastic, the scent of decay hanging heavily over the carrion. He murmured a few words in the tongue of the Gelhaim, and then threw the meat onto the ground.
That meat will draw the yetis... Zagaroth thought, a sneer twisting his face. I will destroy them all...
The grey in his eyes began to quaver, and quickly receded. His irises returned to their normal shade of blue.
Flint wrinkled his nose at the scent, and went to turn away, only to notice the glowing runes.
He sprinted for the top the hill without waiting, and yelled to the group.
"Hey guys, I found it!"
Emily slipped off her left glove, and tucked it away in her pocket. She had a feeling deep down in the pit of her stomach that things were about to get very interesting.
"Excellent!" Didn't cheered, and began charging up the slope with snow rolling down in her bootprints. She clapped Flint on the back heartily.
"We'll be there in no ti-" Didn't's exclamation broke off in a startled shriek as a gigantic furry paw encircled he meager waist.
A gigantic white ape, easily twice the height of anybody present, lifted her effortlessly towards its saber fanged mouth. Didn't let out another piercing cry, struggling unsuccessfully to get to her pockets.
The yeti opened its jaws wide, and got ready to bite down on its flailing prey's throat- Only to get knocked sprawling by what seemed like thunder incarnate. Yorik plowed through the ape with bestial might. Didn't squirted out of its grasp and tumbled across the snow like a fumbled football.
She rolled into a crouch, shivering from the snow going up her sleeves and down her boots.
A half dozen of the yetis, lean, starving beasts, stood arrayed around Flint, Didn't, and Yorick. They let out a chorus of echoing roars, and charged at the trio.
Belwyn quickly ran after her three companions as the yetis encircled them.
She dug into her bag, a pulled out a can of chicken soup that she'd brought for her companion's benefit. Like bears, the yetis seemed to be merely wild animals looking for a meal. Hopefully, she could distract them and avoid a fight.
She laid the can of soup on the ground, and in a single motion, drew one of her blades and cleaved the can in half.
"Hey!" She screamed as loud as she could, barely audible over the bellowing and roars, "Come and get this food! Leave them alone! Come over here!"
A moment later, Belwyn was rewarded by two of the huge beasts breaking off from the formation and charging at her and Emily.
Emily waited for one of the beasts to get within a stride of her, and flicked her left hand. The yeti skidded to a stop just short of the chef, and roared, clawing at its eyes. The howls grew to a deafening volume. Emily stepped back, and the yeti charged, his breath steaming in the air. Its unharmed eye burned with rage, one of its paws still covering its injured one. It swung at her with its free arm, and Emily flicked her wrist again.
The yeti stopped in midswing, and brought its other hand up to its face, clawing at the toothpick that was protruding from its other eye now.
Though a few of the yetis had broken off for the soupcan distraction, the majority continued trying to kill Flint and Didn't. The crippling injury Emily had inflicted on one yeti had driven the others into a total rage, sending gigantic hairy arms flailing in all directions. Flint narrowly dodged a sweeping strike aimed for his head. Before the beast could withdraw, Flint produced a knife from his parka with serpentine speed. He slashed across its wrist, opening an artery in a spurt of crimson, and quickly tumbled away.
The grey in his eyes began expanding once more, and a demented grin appeared on his lips, baring his canine teeth.
"No, not now!" Flint muttered direly to himself, his body quaking.
"It's time to show you what I can really do!" Didn't reached into her pocket. She slipped off her mitten while sidestepping a stomp, and then produced her bare hand with a loop of string around her finger. She backpedaled, dodging an overhead punch that shattered the permafrost.
"Take that!" She swept her hand upwards, a silver yo-yo with blue lights and extra string quietly bopping the yeti on the nose.

"And now..." Didn't took the string in her other hand as the yeti growled in annoyance.
"OVERDRIVE!"
Didn't's voice echoed through the hills. Instantly, the yo-yo sprang to the size of a millstone, blasting the yeti off of its taloned feet. The girl jerked the string, snapping the yo-yo back to pocket-size. She spiraled, bringing the toy in a wide arc through the air. With a triumphant cry, she brought the yo-yo streaking down at the prone yeti. It expanded again at the last instant, smashing the ape half a foot into the ground.Belwyn glanced to her companions as the second yeti came after her and the soup. Thankfully, everyone was holding their own and uninjured thusfar. This left her feeling more confident about facing the issue at hand.
With a flourish, she drew her other shortsword, and struck a defensive stance.
Wild eyes and sweeping arms came rushing at her with mindboggling speed for such a large creature. Belwyn's body grew more and more tense as the ape approached.
After what seemed like forever, despite only being a few seconds, the yeti's arm was in reach of her blades. Her swords swept in a bright flash, their polished steel reflecting sky and snow. The yeti screamed as her swords cut deep into its forearm. Caught up in the momentum of her attack, Belwyn was unable to dodge the second incoming log of an arm. She was caught up bodily, and flung sprawling into Flint.Emily watched Belwyn go airborn.
"Good catch!" She cheered to Flint, dodging an arm with outstretched claws aimed for her head.
By this point, there were six toothpicks embedded in the right eye, and the left eye was no longer recognizable, the beast having ripped it out in its effort to remove the splinters of wood. The monster's face was dripping with gore, and its panicked breathing had grown heavier. The breath was knocked out of Flint's lungs as Belwyn crashed into him. Struggling to his feet, he soon realized that he no longer held his knife, and his other weapons were still securely bound up deep inside his coat, and hard to access. A gleam of light from between one of the yeti's feet caught his eye. His knife laid in the snow, securely protected by the yeti.
Flint wanted to cut with it, to feel warm flesh getting sliced under his blade. The grey in his eyes flared, and Zagaroth grabbed Belwyn's ankle.
"I want that knife!" He muttered under his breath, and spun, hurling the healer at the apelike beast. As Belwyn collided with the yeti, Zagaroth rolled between its leg and snagged the knife. Following his momentum, he spun on one knee, one clean cut perfectly cleaving the tendons in both of the beast's knees. He rose to his feet, sidestepping as the beast fell backwards. Breathing heavily, the grey began to fade from Flint's eyes once again.Belwyn was disoriented upon impact with Flint, but no sooner had she gotten her bearings than she again found herself flying through the air. White knuckles clutching her soft leather hilts, she braced herself for impact. She felt the sickening sensation of the flesh being cut, and found that she had been flung at the perfect angle to cut the artery in its neck.
Using her feet, she pushed off the yeti's chest and extracted her blades. Blood gushed onto her as she fell to the ground. She scrambled away as quickly as possible, the white being stained red."Great teamwork, guys!" Emily shouted, tumbling clear of another swing from the blinded yeti. After a moment's paused, she began flipping her hands quickly in an alternating rhythm. Granola bar after granola bar smacked into the snow, creating a series of crunches like footsteps.
The yeti took off after them, swinging furiously all the way.OOC: And now we're up to the present day!

Yorick grunted loudly, using his immense horns to keep the yeti at bay. However oddly, this wasn't the first time that he'd encountered such beasts, both of them being relics of another age where the entire earth was wrapped in ice.
The ape howled, reaching low and using its long hands to fling a massive load of snow into the rhino's face, blinding it. Yorick shook his head, trying to clear his senses, and then the yeti plowed into him from the side. Though Yorick weighed several times as much as the rangy beast, the ape had an advantage in initiative and momentum. It staggered him sideways a step, and didn't relent on the assault, pummeling his leathery hide with feral blows.
Yorick turned with surprising delicacy, bringing his head to bear. He hooked the beast under its armpit with his horn, and wrenched his mighty neck, flinging it to ground. He thundered over it, using his bulk to trample it down into the snow. Though the attack hadn't killed the yeti, it was clearly stunned, the fight knocked out of it.
The rhinoceros trotted over to Didn't side, turning to protectively shelter the girl behind his flank against the two remaining menaces. Didn't put a hand to his side, steadying him as the last of the yetis closed in.

As the yetis slowly closed in on Didn't and her pet Flint plunged his knife into the now very dead creature at his feat. Red droplets of blood dripped from the blade as the knife was pulled from the flesh. The dagger made a slightly whistle as it left Flints hand in an arch toward one of the yetis. Howling in rage both yetis were plunged deeper into there blood fueled rage as the knife sank into the large fury shoulder of the closer monster.

Emily had backed off quite a bit, and now circled in to Didn't, taking shelter behind Yorick. "I would help more but I hardly feel adequate with toothpicks when they have swords." Emily shrugged toward Didn't. In defiance of her words however she prepared herself for more fight.

Belwyn hurried to her feet as she saw the looming danger. Taking her battle stance, she hoped that she would fare better with this wave. After seeing the effect of Flint's last assault however, something told her it wasn't going to be much better at all.
Planting her feet best she could, she raised her swords again and waited for the next onslaught of flailing limbs and cold red eyes.

"I don't like where this is going. We're letting them bully us around..." Didn't said quietly, barely audible over the vocalizations of the three yetis that were still standing. Fortunately, one of those three had still fallen for Emily's distraction, and was wandering off into the distance. Still, if they discounted Yorick, the yetis probably outweighed her and the rest of her group by a factor of five or more.
"Predators only picks fights that they know they can win. That's why you've got to change things, and catch them on their back foot. Otherwise, they're just going to grind us down til we die..." Didn't circled slowly, speaking more to herself than the others. She bit her lip, and then gave a resolute nod.
"I'm going to change that," She tapped Yorick again on the snout, his massive shaggy head bowing low. She stepped up, bracing one boot-clad heel on the keel of his larger horn, facing forwards. She hooked one arm behind herself, barely taking hold of the broad spike to keep her balance.
"Yorick, give me a shove."
The rhinoceros tossed his massive shaggy head, sending Didn't soaring through the air. She felt the momentum carrying her, sending her in a wide arc... One that would drop her directly in front of the pair of slavering yetis. That simply wouldn't do.
Didn't swung her yo-yo down towards the ground, activating it as soon as it was below her feet. The yo-yo exploded to full size, plowing through the snow. It carried Didn't atop it, sending her spinning wildly as she rocketed past the yetis. Both swung at her, one missing, the other tagging her with a paw across the shoulder that was enough to knock her from her ride.
Didn't went tumbling dizzily across the ground, barely remembering to snap her weapon back to pocket size before it would've run her over. She staggered a few steps, still spinning. Her shoulder felt like it was on fire, the cold air biting at her around the wound where her coat had been torn. She found herself falling to the ground in a slow motion pirouette, her feet going out from under her against her will.
She took a glance towards the group, and suddenly felt a moment of clarity. However discombobulated she was, she had to do her best to help them. Putting all of her strength into one last spin, she swept her yo-yo behind the duo of yetis. It expanded to full size, failing to land a direct hit but clipping each of them, knocking them off balance.
The girl lost her grip on the toy, sending it careening off somewhere over her shoulder. It crashed with an immense crunch, smashing immense walls of ice like they were brittle glass.
Didn't tripped over herself and fell into a snowbank. Breathing heavily, she decided to just lay there and let the world spin for a while.OOC: Figured I'd set you guys up for finishing attacks. We can wrap up the fight in the next round, and get on with exploring.

Emily watched happily as Didn't plowed into the yetis with a giant yoyo. "Perfect it's like bowling for snowmen!" She clapped happily for a moment. Once Didn't had come to a rest in a snow bank Emily decided to move. She dashed between the two yetis, as she did so she flicked her left wrist up and her right wrist down. The Yeti on her left howled wildly revealing a toothpick protruding from his upper gum line. The one on her right stumbled another step back, the toothpick no longer was visible, however there was blood staining a small section of the yetis big toe. "Now you both stay away from my friend, or I'll have to be a really big meany!" She stood ready to protect Didn't. "Quick Flint finish'em."

Flint ran forward still more concerned with retrieving his knife than anything else. Snow exploded to his right were a yeti thrashed at the ground. Rolling into the cloud of snow that was momentarily suspended in air, he disappeared from sight. Moments later the yeti roared in pain as Flint for the again exposed artery in the wrist. Due to its rage the beast failed to notice Flint hanging from its hand. Dropping onto the furry shoulder as the hand rose above the yeti's head Flint retrieved his knife and quickly spun, creating a large gash across the throat. Blood now splattered all of Flint's exposed skin. An evil smile spread across his face as the blood lust of his people began to take a firm hold on him.
Snow flew into the air as the yeti crashed into the ground. A loud noise erupted from inside the snow plume and the second yeti seemed stunned for a moment, a small hole now existed between it's eyes. Slowly stumbling the beast fell to the ground in a heap.
Inside the cloud of snow Flint hurriedly stuffed one of the pistols back into its holster under the parka before his companions could see him again. The Blood lust slowly drained from his body, taking all his energy with it. Exhausted, Flint collapsed into the snow next to the dead yeti.

As the raged yeti met her, Belwyn dodged the failing arms and rolled between the monster's legs. Getting up just as quickly, she make a deep gash just above its knee, cutting the branches of the sciatic nerve that gave feeling to the lower leg. The Yeti let out a shriek of pain and fell to its knees giving Belwyn a chance for a fatal blow. Her blades, now crimson and silver, plunged once more into the white beast. This time she aimed them precisely between the ribs, puncturing both lungs. She looked on sadly as the yeti gurgled in agony, then slit its throat to grant it a quicker death.
She hated killing, especially when she had to use her knowledge of healing to do so. She gave a gentle pat to the now dead creature, then quickly ran to check on her companions.
Flint who was covered in blood, seemed to be the most urgent, so she decided it would be best to check him first. She pressed here and examined there until she was satisfied that he was, for the most part, in good health, just exhausted.
Next she went over to Didn't who was still laying on the ground regaining her bearings.
“How are you feeling?” She asked as she went about the same routine she had with Flint.

"I feel..." Didn't rolled her neck with a loud groan, "I feel dizzy."
She attempted to stand up, and immediately pitched forward and her hands and knees. She felt the snow crunching and melting around her ungloved hand, and pulled it up, only to pitch over to that side.
"This... isn't the best day I've ever had," Didn't said quietly. She rolled into a sitting position, and rested her head in her hands. A few rivulets of meltwater ran down her face. Didn't exhaled deeply, and buried her face in her intact mitten.
After a pause, she perked up again.
"But I did help us win, so there is that," She pulled her other glove out of her pocket, and with some fumbling, put it on. She held out a hand to Belwyn, who assisted her to her feet.
"One of them did tear my coat and scratch my arm, though, so if you could help fix that up, that would be wonderful," The girl craned her neck, trying to examine the injury. The cut was shallow, and had mostly stopped bleeding. Fortunately for her, the oversized coat had taken the brunt of the attack.

“I wouldn't be surprised if you had a concussion. You shouldn't stand up too quickly if you're still not feeling well.” Belwyn commented as she helped steady the girl to her feet.
“Here, let me see your arm.” A gentle hand was place on Didn't's elbow and wrist so to more easily maneuver it into a more accessible position. Reaching into her aid supplies Belwyn took out a small bandage, a cloth, her water bottle and some lavender oil. A puzzled look came over Didn't's face, Belwyn could only wonder why. After pouring a bit of water onto the cloth, she began to dab at the gash. It wasn't too deep, but was enough to potentially leave a scar. When she was finished she dropped a couple drops of lavender on it help it heal and wrapped it up in the bandage.
“There you are.” she said with a smile. “That's better I hope?”

Emily smiled "Yay! You'll be good as new now, and all the evil snow creatures are dead so we are totally doing awesome!" She clapped and did a small hop for joy. "Now the question is how should we proceed from here? It seems that there are few dangers that we need to keep watch for. Should we approach in the way of having a scout go up ahead, or all stick togethor and hope for the best?" She gasped "Oh Yorick! Most of your braids fell out!"

Snow flakes slowly drifted down from the sky onto Flint's face. Each one seemed like a little angel coming from heaven. Every now and then one would land on his cheeks and slowly melt. The rest of the group seemed to be fine, kinda, but he didn't really care. For now the snowflakes comforted him and reminded him of his child hood friend from long ago. Then the pleasant memories were replaced by terrible images, each one was vague but more terrible than the last. People were dying all around him, all being killed by a single man. This man had grey eyes that were full of hate and the cruelest smile imaginable. Everything about him seemed so familiar, yet his identity eluded Flint. He remembered running away and an elder catching him. He could still feel the cold feeling of ice surrounding him as the elder began freezing him for protection. As the last of the ice covered his body the elder drew a rune near the base for protection. A blood curdling scream filled the air as the elder finished. The man had finished destroying all of the people only the elder remained, this made him the last target. The water in the elders veins froze into spikes that began to protrude out of his body at every angle. The man with the gray eyes walked toward the pillar of ice that held Flint safely. A wall of ice quickly grew out of the ground and threw the elders body to the side. Upon reaching the pillar the man smiled cruelly and drew a large rune in front of Flint's face. After that everything went blank.
Flint jumped up from the snow in a cold sweat and looked around. Seeing the others standing around helped to calm him down. "Guys the entrance is over here, we should probably keep moving before something else finds us." He yelled.

"Indeed!" Didn't lurching ran towards the cavern. She bit her lip, trying to focus and bring her dizziness under control. She steadied herself by bracing her palm against Yorick's flank, the rhino having fallen into a slow trot beside her. She passed through the low, but solid archway in the ice, Yorick's bulk almost pressing her against the wall. She blinked in the sudden dimness of the light, the howling wind now having become a ghostly whistle at the mouth of the tunnel. The passage was illuminated dimly in a faint navy hue, the light struggling to show the path as it wended off into the darkness. Didn't gazed upwards at the ceiling, and involuntarily shuddered. The tunnel had ridges running along its roof, bringing to mind to inside of a gigantic mouth. The wind whistled again outside, a ghostly wail dying to silence. OOC: Had an overambitious post planned getting us to the city, but figured we'd be better off just hitting the tunnel, then the city in our next round.

Belwyn shivered as the especially chilling wind fallowed them into the passage. She entered a bit more cautiously than Didn't and Flint. Something in this place didn't seem right to her, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Perhaps it was just the silence that accompanied being surrounded by snow she wasn't quite accustomed to. What ever the case, she couldn't help but be on the alert. OOC: Sorry if something in here doesn't make sense. I triple checked it, but that doesn't mean much when you have a migraine. O.o Go away pain... Bleehhhh...

"Everyone Smile!" A blinding flash danced through the cave. "I thought we'd want to treasure this moment" Emily pranced into the cave, Waving a fresh poloroid picture "or at the very least if we die here and somebody finds us they get to see what we looked like before we died. Guys watch this! WEEEEEE!" She ran a couple feet and stopped suddenly sending her skidding across the frozen floor. "This is totally awesome." Pausing, Emily glanced up at the others; they seemed to lack the enthusiasm she was abundantly displaying. "Oh cheer up we'll find the thingy-ma-jig in no time, and we'll probably not die!"

Ice crystals glimmered on the walls as light streamed into the tunnel. Each one sparkling like a diamond. Reaching into his bag Flint pulled out some paper and folded it into an airplane. Throwing the airplane down the tunnel it slowly traveled forward until it came in contact with one of there ice crystals. The plane was quickly shredded into small ribbons which were immediately frozen solid.
"I almost forgot about that" He whispered as the gray slivers began to expand again and an evil smile spread across his face.

"Ooh, those are-!" Didn't clapped in delight, and then stopped in midclap.
"Oh, uh... Well, then... That's not a good kind of pretty," The girl stammered. Yorick snorted loudly, exhaling clouds of steam, and ponderously tried to back away from the murderous shower of ice crystals. His companion reached behind his ears, scratching them reassuringly.
"Does anybody know a good way to get through there?" Didn't put her other hand into her pocket, biting down on her lip in thought.
"I could try to bust through with my Overdrive, but that could collapse the tunnel on us, and might just fling the crystals everywhere..." She envisioned the carnage that'd ensue if her whirling yo-yo met the vitreous showers... It'd rip them all to bloody pieces in seconds.
"No, I... I don't think I'm going to do that."

"Well that's unfortunate" Emily said "Those poor paper pilots didn't stand a chance." Emily shuffled her feet a little and buried both her hands deeper in her pockets. "Look I have a lighter" She shot a glance at Flint "couldn't we just melt the ice thingys?"

“That's one way,” Belwyn began, having recovered from the sudden action of the death trap. “however, we don't have any wood and I don't think we have nearly enough flares to melt the whole thing. Also, as Didn't said, we probably don't want to mess with the structure of this place either. Maybe we should look for the trigger?”
“What do you think Flint? You seem to be more familiar with this place.” She asked as she took more cautious steps toward her companions.

"What trigger?" Flint asked. "Those crystals grow when things touch them. I have no idea how to make them shrink."
Flint walked forward a few steps to observe the shards that had finally stopped expanding. Each crystal seem grimly beautiful, yet extremely hypnotizing in the deadliest of ways. Flint felt himself being drawn closer and closer to the crystals, until the frost from his breath swirled around there dangerous edges. The grey in his eyes suddenly eclipsed the slivers of blue that had remained. The crystals started to slowly retract back to there original position on the wall.
"Looks like they just needed some time to shrink." Zagaroth said as he turned back to the rest of the group. Behind him each crystal shook slightly attempting to overcome the restraints he had set on them. "We should continue." He said as the evil grin returned to his face.

Didn't rushed ahead, leaving Yorick's side to follow close on Flint's heels. He knew his way around the traps it seemed, and besides, it was a much less narrow fit when an entire rhinoceros wasn't pressing her against the wall. Yorick snorted with displeasure, lowering his nose and shouldering past the other two ladies. He stayed close to Didn't, his ears perked up and his nostrils flared. He kept one watery golden brown eye turned towards Flint as they cleared the tunnel.
As they went through, Didn't found her eyes smarting from the sudden illumination. Though the chamber wasn't brilliantly illuminated, a vespertine glow from above left enough light to see clearly by. The cavern extended off into the gloom, an expanse the size of a small town secreted away inside the ice covered mountains. Shadows wavered along the powdered floor of the cavern, the midday sunlight warped by the ceiling of ice above them.
Before the group stood a monolithic archway of pitch black stone. It nearly reached the ceiling, matching the height of a jumbo jet upturned on its tail. The gateway was hewn from rough, dark rock, looking as if it would shred the fingertips of anybody who so much as touched it. Towards the outer edges it smoothed, as if melted and shaped. The inner portion of the entryway was as thick as a house, easily twenty or thirty feet across, but the edges tapered into a blade-thin edge of obsidian.
Didn't shaded her eyes, and glanced upwards. Nestled into the ceiling of the archway was dozens of immense metal spears, secured only by a coating of ice that kept the from falling. When people were living here, in a time of war, all they'd need to do was deliver a solid impact to the gate to rain death upon anybody who had made it through the other defenses.
In the murk of the deserted city, dozens of pillars of ice stood at odd slants, merging with the ceiling hundreds of feet above them. Each one was as thick as a skyscraper, but the incredible purity of the ice left them completely transparent. Each cast a warped image of what stood behind it, some magnifying views from the opposite ends of the cavern, while others bent images, giving vertigo inducing views of the chamber from far above.
"Flint? I don't mean to upset you, but... the people who used to live here..." Didn't pulled her coat tighter around her shoulders.
"They weren't very nice, were they?"

"Don't be silly Didn't" Emily giggled "They probably were just eccentric." Emily pulled out her camera and proceeded to take pictures of the surrounding area. She turned around and snapped a picture of Flint and Belwyn. "I think this will be a good picture" She said vigorously shaking it, "wow! It is, Didn't look at it, look how her green scarf really accentuates her skin you hardly notice the blood even. And Flint looks totally...." her voice trailed off as she showed Didn't the picture. Her face looked confused for a moment, and she pulled out a picture taken previously. She looked at the two. The one of the group as they were entering the cave and the one of Belwyn and Flint. Her entire body stiffened for a brief moment. Merrily laughing she stuffed the pictures back inside her bag. "Would anyone like a granola bar?" Emily asked grabbing one for herself.
