And so our second challenge comes to an end. The team, by which I really mean Sem and Testbug, elected to call the mission off here and now. Ninety has responded by choosing the box whose contents will determine the outcome. That's the orange box, inside which he'll find... 19 EP
Loose the streamers and slice the cake! Episode 6's second challenge is a success! The team wins not only these 19 EP, but all the remaining money on the table.
Let's see what was in the boxes left over... 5 EP & an exemption
27 EP
3 EP & an exemption
So that's 19 + 5 + 27 + 3 = 54 EP into the team's pocket. A nice takeaway! And yet, it's hard to dispel thoughts of the other 50 EP contained within the first four boxes eliminated. By cutting the number of boxes in half before acting, Sem and Testbug also halved the challenge's payload. When you consider that it ultimately came down to a 50-50 shot, no better than when the challenge began, you have to wonder: was it really worth it for them to bother knocking out those first four boxes? In particular, why did Sem and Testbug keep voting "go" even when the odds were in the team's favor (after the deduction of the green box)... and then vote "stop" when the odds were back at 50-50? Had they voted "stop" after the green box's deduction, the chances are better than 50% that the team still would've won, and you'd be another 24 EP (the contents of the purple box) richer. Food for thought... (Here's the promised screencap of my prior PM to myself with the boxes' contents, by the way.)But disappointed though we might collectively choose to be in this outcome, Ninety must feel a good bit sorer, having lost out on the exemption based on little more than a coin flip. Since he was the only player privileged to receive the exemption in the first place, "pity" might not exactly be what he deserves, but it's possible you'll feel a little bit more sympathetic after I betray the following top secret which I promise has nothing at all to do with ghosts........................ That was the last opportunity to obtain an exemption in the entire game. "SCANNING. SCANNING. SCAN CONCLUDED. DIVINE FECAL MATTER LEVEL 72%. CRITICAL DENSITY WITHIN SIGHT, BUT AVOIDABLE. INSERTING ADDITIONAL ICE CUBES INTO PRECAUTIONARY LEMONADE. SERVING. SERVING. PLEASE ENJOY." HSQ-3000!! You're alive?? I thought you exploded into a stock image of a nuclear mushroom cloud! "I DID. HOWEVER, DO YOU RECALL THE ENDING OF EARTH HUMAN INK-ARTIFICE-FILM 'THE IRON GIANT'?" Why... yes. Yes I do, for that movie was branded onto my consciousness forevermore by a thousand scalding tears. "WELL IT WAS LIKE THAT." Nice, dude. Well, listen, why don't you go take a break for a while and I'll see if we need you for the season finale. Also, thanks for this lemonade, which is delicious. Isn't it delicious, players? Let's all say thank you to HSQ-3000. "ORGANIC LIFEFORMS ARE HINDERED BY THESE 'FEELINGS' AND 'TEARS' AND THIS 'NEED FOR LEMONADE'. NOW IF YOU WILL EXCUSE ME, I AM GOING TO FETCH A BLANKET AND WATCH EARTH HUMAN LIGHT-ARTIFICE-FILM 'WALL-E' FOR TIME #1984237." But enough of this equine fecal matter. The hot newsflash here is: no more exemptions. Forever. From now until the end of the game, either you've got a "joker" or you're cruising on nothing at all. And "jokers" themselves will be pretty thin on the ground from here out, too. In fact, there's only one of them left to acquire...
THE TEAM POT: 241 EP THE MOLE'S POCKET 317 EP
Well, that just about finishes off another great episode of "The Mole"! Three outstanding challenges, I'm sure you'll agree. Three and a half, even, counting all that business with the "DON'T READ THIS" messages and Biscuit's birthday at the beginning. Yes, every single one of these three and a half challenges was an unqualified triumph of design and execution!!
The next quiz will take place on Thursday the 14th. Be ready!

The sixth execution ceremony begins now. You know how this works. I'm not going to reveal the execution victim right away. Instead, you players must post in this topic -- post anything at all -- in order to volunteer to receive your results. I'll reply to you with a gray thumbprint much like this one. Exactly like this one, actually. Click on that image and a new thumbprint will be displayed. If the new thumbprint is green, you passed the sixth quiz and are cleared to continue on to the next episode. If the new thumbprint is red, then you are the Mole's eighth victim. You have been executed, and will no longer participate in the game. I don't think there's much need to impose a time limit any longer, with so few of you remaining. We'll proceed until the executed player steps forward. Elliot and Testbug hold "jokers" for this episode, but whether this has saved them from execution remains to be seen. No one holds an exemption for this episode, and there was really no need to mention this except that I simply wished to rub it in. That's all. If you would like to receive your results, post anything at all now.

Okay everybody, gather 'round! Don't sit on each other please! It's time for
THE NURSERY PARTY!!!!
FECKIN' YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
HERE'S HOW THIS GREAT GAME WORKS!!
There are many blocks. So many blocks! Can you count the blocks, everyone? That's right: you can't. There are just too many!! That's okay though. We're not here to count blocks. We're here to share them like the wonderful little children we are!!!
Let's have a shufti at these blocks! Do you know "shufti", kids? "To have a shufti at" means "to take a look at; to glance over". That's a word brought back by British soldiers from Arab lands!!! Colonialism yayyyy, children!
Some of these blocks are red. Like fire trucks. Or Clifford!
Some of these blocks are green. Like grass!
Some of these blocks are blue. Did you know Christopher Columbus discovered America, kids?? It's true! Anyone who says otherwise is a filthy commie!!
ALSO.........
Some of these blocks are circles. Like the Earth!!
Some of these blocks are triangles. Thomas Edison was the world's most brilliant inventor!!! He was way smarter than that two-bit nincompoop Nikola Tesla. Tesla booooooo, children!
Some of these blocks are squares. Kids, it's okay if you don't know how many sides a square has. Albert Einstein failed basic mathematics!!!!! You will probably grow up to be a visionary architect or maybe build spaceships for NASA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What Are We Going To Do With All Of These Blocks?
We're going to play with them! But we're also going to be very attentive to each others' needs. If Courtney sees a block that she thinks Alicia deserves to play with, let Courtney offer that block to Alicia! Don't be greedy, Courtney! You haven't even held down a job at Taco Bell yet!!!
When our play session is over, everyone's gonna choose their favorite block of all. And once you make that choice, poof, just like that the team earns EP!!!!!! That's it!!!!!!!!!!! So what are you waiting for, kids?? This is fun! And remember: having fun is cool. You guys are about to be the coolest kids on the block!!!!

Well, enough of that shit. Let's get serious here. You noticed, I think, that there were two questions on the quiz that seemed a little awry. This "Nursery Party" challenge -- had I made a mistake in sending out the quiz too soon? Had the challenge rushed by so quickly that you missed it? Or were you suffering from severe retrograde amnesia? None of the above, I'm happy to say. Though I'm a little less happy that no one saw this coming. Or at least spotted the warning signs. All throughout the topic, I've made a point of stressing that "The Birthday Ultimatum" was just a mini-challenge and that there were still three full-fledged challenges coming down the pike. You know, sayin' things like "let's move on to our three proper challenges" and "one challenge down, two to go" and "let's try to close this gap in the next two challenges" and "the second of our three challenges" and "our second challenge comes to an end". Very subtle stuff. And yet, when I put up this post going on and on about what a great "three and a half challenges" we'd just finished..... no comments from the peanut gallery! I guess I'm a crazy dreamer, but I really did suppose somebody was going to cough a little, raise a tentative hand, and say "Um, Pohatu? Are you daft or just confused? I count two and a half challenges so far. You want to maybe chill for a minute with the quiz so we can figure this out?" Alas, no one seemed to notice these peculiar goings-on until quiztime. Even the Mole him/herself was baffled by those two questions about this elusive nursery mission! Well, at least now it's all coming clear. "The Nursery Party" is on, just like any other challenge. Except unlike any other challenge, it's taking place after the episode's quiz. "Which color did the Mole choose?" "Which shape did the Mole choose?" You've already answered these questions, players, and the Mole hasn't even settled on their choice yet. Do you see where I'm going with this? You made a prediction about the Mole's behavior, whether you understood that at the time or not. Now, if you want your quiz score to be as high as possible, it's time to make your prediction come true. And I certainly would advise trying, because as we've learned from last episode, just two points on the quiz can make the difference between who stays and who walks. If you're correct in your suspicions of the Mole's identity, then you need the Mole to choose whichever color and shape you predicted. That's what this game boils down to. A task of persuasion. How will the challenge proceed? Well, here's how it'll resolve: Each of you will PM me choosing a block of whichever color and shape you like. But that's not going to happen right away. Until I say otherwise, you are not to PM me with your choice. Any such message will be ignored. What do you do until then? You offer blocks to each other. And let's be polite and friendly about it. " Belle, why don't you take this red triangle?" " Sem, I think this green circle would be just the thing for you." " Elliot, I just know you'd love this blue square. It's even better than cigarettes and sex!" Once enough time has passed, I'll ask everyone to PM me their choice. Then the team will earn EP as follows: I'll consider each person's choice of color and shape separately. If no one else offered that player a block of that color, the team earns 0 EP. If exactly one other person offered that player a block of that color, it's 4 EP; if two, 8 EP; if three, 12 EP. But if all four other players offered that person a block of that color... it's 0 EP! Let's have a little disagreement, shall we? The same is true for the block's shape. In that way, a single player's choice of block can earn the team up to 24 EP (if both color and shape were offered by three other players). So, altogether, the team could make 120 EP on this one. Man, these payouts are getting more and more ludicrous! But how much will the team actually earn? That depends on how much you can coordinate your requests... and whether anyone actually wants to comply with the offers made to them. Remember, there are quiz points on the line here, not just EP. As you consider the offer made to you by another player, ask yourself: do they think you're the Mole? Is it in your best interest to choose the block they're offering you, or to deliberately flout their request? And how can you, in turn, best persuade your own Mole target to pick the block you're offering, and not the one some other douchebag is also pressing on them? How can you best make your case? Confused? I'm not surprised. Sorry -- this took a lot of explaining. Here's your business: Ask each other to take specific blocks -- the green triangle, the blue circle, whatever. You may have only one Mole target, but you'd do better to offer blocks to all four of the other players: that way your suspicions remain hidden. And may I recommend not just asking all four other players to take whatever color and shape you predicted? Mix it up. Otherwise everyone will see you're just bein' cheap. One more thing: You're allowed to change offers -- that is, to offer a new block to the same player. Only your most recent offer to that player will be counted at the end of the challenge. Are you with me? Then look back into your outbox, brush up on the color and shape you predicted, and start makin' some offers.

P.S. I asked Sem to choose the target of his "batman" after he submitted the quiz, same as Biscuit last time. However, I'm withholding his choice for the moment. Both Elliot and Testbug, consider your "jokers" at risk. We'll find out whom Sem chose -- or, indeed, whether he went for the 20 EP -- after this challenge.

So far: - Sem has been offered a blue circle, worth 12 EP, and a green circle, also worth 12 EP. (4 EP for blue/green, and 8 EP for circle).
- Testbug has been offered a green triangle, worth 8 EP, and a red circle, worth 8 EP.
- Belle has been offered a red triangle, worth 12 EP, and a red square, also worth 12 EP. (8 EP for red, and 4 EP for triangle/square).
- Elliot has been offered a blue square worth 8 EP.
- Ninety has been offered a blue triangle worth 8 EP.
That's a good start, guys. Keep 'em coming.

Hey Elliot why don't you take a look at this blue square? It's got a real nice shade going for it like not so much melancholy looking but more staring-longingly-into-the-sky kind of deal

New interface ahoy. - Sem: blue x1 - 4 EP (Belle), green x1 - 4 EP (Ninety); circle x2 - 8 EP (Belle, Ninety). His highest-paying choice right now would be a blue/green circle, worth 12 EP. His lowest-paying choice would be a red triangle/square, worth 0 EP.
- Testbug: green x1 - 4 EP (Belle), red x1 - 4 EP (Ninety); triangle x1 - 4 EP (Belle), circle x1 - 4 EP (Ninety). His highest-paying choice right now would be a green/red triangle/circle, worth 8 EP. His lowest-paying choice would be a blue square, worth 0 EP.
- Belle: red x3 - 12 EP (Ninety, Elliot, Testbug); triangle x2 - 8 EP (Ninety, Testbug), square x1 - 4 EP (Elliot). Her highest-paying choice right now would be a red triangle, worth 20 EP. Her lowest-paying choice would be a green/blue circle, worth 0 EP.
- Elliot: blue x3 - 12 EP (Ninety, Belle, Testbug); square x3 - 12 EP (Ninety, Belle, Testbug). His highest-paying choice right now would be a blue square, worth 24 EP. His lowest-paying choice would be a red/green circle/triangle, worth 0 EP.
- Ninety: blue x2 - 8 EP (Elliot, Belle), green x1 - 4 EP (Testbug); triangle x2 - 8 EP (Elliot, Belle), circle x1 - 4 EP (Testbug). His highest-paying choice right now would be a blue triangle, worth 16 EP. His lowest-paying choice would be a red square, worth 0 EP.
Would you be happy right now if everyone picked their most valuable block? If not, then it might be time to try persuading another player to change their mind... Anyway, I won't wrap this up yet, as Sem hasn't had a chance to make any suggestions.
