Though only one quiz has passed since the beginning of the last episode, three players have been ousted from our company. First there was Tangrow, whose complete absence from the game finally caught up to him. His execution after the third quiz marked the passing of the last of the three Players Who Never Did A Damn Thing, after Lugiasian and Geo. Ironically, he's since made a return to the boards... too bad the Mole waits for no man, woman or kitten.
Then, two more contestants were forcibly dropped from the party as the result of a landslide 5-0 vote. Though the group was ostensibly not told the identities of those up for elimination, it wasn't terribly hard to pinpoint them as the two Players Who Barely Did A Damn Thing, Iron Mouse and DL, both so sporadic in their participation that keeping them in the game for another two episodes would only have bogged things down. Or at least, so reasoned the five players who voted to banish them.
And so we are left with the seven Players Who Have Done Damn Things. To the six contestants in that group, I say: good work so far. You've all participated variously in the challenges and voted in some or all of the quizzes. I'd advise you to look lively and keep your heads in the game from now on. With the riffraff disposed of, it's time for business. If you're not on your guard, this episode might well be your last.
Let's get back to it.* * * Players, here's what I need from you. I need three people who think they have a pretty good handle on this whole RP thing. You don't have to be some kind of RP history expert -- just sort of having your finger on the pulse of the contemporary RP scene is enough. Familiarity with characters is the key point, not with plotlines. Let's call these three the smart players. I also need three people who don't have a frigging clue what's going on in RP, outside of maybe knowing that Terrian Brogue is this really cool dude and his author is very talented and handsome. Let's call these three the stupid players. Finally, I need one person who isn't really sure where he or she stands on this spectrum. Let's call that one the indecisive player. More detail to follow once I have the three groups. Choose your role now by posting in this topic. First come, first served.

All right.
Our smart players are Biscuit, Ninety, and by default, Bulbs.
Our stupid players are Belle, Sem and Testbug.
Our indecisive player is Elliot.
I'll send around some PMs shortly. Except to you smart players. You don't need to receive PMs. You're too clever.

OKAY SO HERE'S THE DEAL.
The dumb people got a list of questions! We get to decide which ones you guys can answer. Here's the catch, though. Exemptions will be based on how many you get right. 5 or 6 and you guys get the exemption. 1 or 2 right and we get the exemption.
So here's my opinion.
You guys get 3 right, and 3 wrong. That way, no one gets the exemption and it's all equal for everyone. Fair, right? So, what do you guys think?

2010 Popularity Poll.
Not Lugiasian Awards.
No nominations. Just raw numbers.
Really, are you sure you're one of the smart players??

Well, let's not detain you any longer. Here are the six pairs.
Nopcsa / Yoshimitsu Dace / Rhys Antonio / Illiana Vincent / Williams Julia / Rance Cesare / Tanner
For each pair, the smart players must choose which character scored higher in the 2010 popularity poll. Write the name of a character in bold to formally choose that character. In each pair, the first character so named by a smart player will be considered the smart team's guess.
The group earns 5 EP per correct guess, making 30 EP altogether. Of course, there's also an exemption on the table, but neither the stupid players nor the smart players know the full story there. It's true, as Testbug kindly ventured, that if the smart players answer exactly 5 or 6 questions correctly, an exemption is awarded to their group, and they are subsequently free to choose which of them will actually receive it. Likewise, it's true that if the smart players answer exactly 1 or 2 questions correctly, an exemption is awarded to the stupid players instead.
Testbug, however, assumed that if the smart players answer exactly 3 or 4 questions correctly, no exemption is awarded. Wrong. In such a case, the exemption is awarded directly to the indecisive player, Elliot.
Who also happens to be the one player who holds the answers to these six questions.
So, smart players, choose carefully. Any "help" you receive from the stupid players could very well be a trap, and any assistance from Elliot is as likely as not the same. Though of course, that knowledge might very well empower any of them to use reverse psychology against you... Think carefully, use what you know about these RP characters and their standing in the public eye, and answer to the best of your ability. Stupid players and indecisive player, feel free to chime in, but remember that only formal guesses from the smart players will be counted.
Oh, and if the smart players don't answer any questions correctly, I'll be so disappointed that no exemption will be awarded. And before you get any funny ideas, I'm also stipulating that if any questions are still unanswered by the deadline, midday Friday, I'll knock 5 EP per question out of the pot. Because boycotting the challenge to keep the exemption out of everyone's hands in the name of some misguided perception of fairness would be so boring.

"THE SMART PLAYERS" have spoken. And the relevant posts have been edited back into this topic. So let's see what the damage is. First question: Nopcsa or Yoshimitsu? Ninety answered: Nopcsa Actual answer:Yoshimitsu (35.624) surpassed Nopcsa (33.781) - Both top-ranking characters, but Nopcsa's popularity wasn't enough to beat the good will Yoshimitsu earned in the 09-10 year. Poor call, smart players. The contestants have earned 0 EP so far. The Mole has nabbed 5 EP so far. Second question: Dace or Rhys? Ninety answered: Rhys Actual answer:Rhys (25.649) surpassed Dace (25.000) - Tough match here, between an ORP B-lister and a PRP A-lister, but the smart players made the right call. The contestants have earned 5 EP so far. The Mole has nabbed 5 EP so far. Third question: Antonio or Illiana? Ninety answered: Illiana Actual answer:Antonio (22.754) surpassed Illiana (20.023) - Hindsight's a bitch. During the 2010 poll, Obscured Truth hadn't yet begun, and Illiana hadn't yet taken off as (I think, anyway) Elliot's most likable character. The contestants have earned 5 EP so far. The Mole has nabbed 10 EP so far. Fourth question: Vincent or Williams? Ninety answered: Williams Actual answer:Williams (23.768) surpassed Vincent (23.730) - Although, on that note, Williams weirdly managed to overtake Vincent even though OT hadn't given him his breakthrough role either. I actually thought Vincent beat Williams until I checked again just now. Hindsight got me too. The contestants have earned 10 EP so far. The Mole has nabbed 10 EP so far. Fifth question: Julia or Rance? Ninety answered: Julia Actual answer:Julia (28.014) surpassed Rance (27.875) - Right down to the wire here, but Julia did indeed manage to scrape ahead. Probably because she has boobs. The contestants have earned 15 EP so far. The Mole has nabbed 10 EP so far. Sixth question: Cesare or Tanner? Ninety answered: Cesare Actual answer:Cesare (29.121) surpassed Tanner (27.109) - I thought this would be a trap for sure, even though it might have been the broadest divide among all twelve characters, but alas. The contestants have earned 20 EP so far. The Mole has nabbed 10 EP so far. So that's 20 EP to the team pot and 10 EP to the Mole. And with four questions answered correctly, the exemption goes to Elliot. Well, it could have been a lot worse. Could've been better, though, too. This is the second time Ninety's charged in and ended a challenge prematurely. It's starting to become a bad habit. Too bad this time his guesses weren't good enough to earn him even the chance at an exemption -- or does Ninety even care about exemptions? He seems to have hatched on a pretty good sabotaging strategy here, acting quickly enough to deny others the opportunity to provide input that might have increased the team's earnings... Are these simply the decisions of a headstrong team leader type? Or a Mole who's carved out an awfully comfortable niche for himself on the team? On that note, let's talk about Testbug the diplomat, happy to go halfsies with the Mole on the EP payout from this challenge. Now since I didn't mention what would happen if the smart players answered 3-4 questions right in the PM I sent to the stupid players, we can't very well fault Testbug for suggesting that 3-3 split. Or can we? He might not have been told the full range of outcomes as a stupid player, but as the Mole, he surely would've been told as much. Did he pitch the 3-3 split idea under the guise of a fair-minded team player, with the real motive of removing chance from the equation and shackling the smart players with only three correct guesses? Sadly I'd already been planning to reveal the 3-4 question outcome ahead of time, and I thought it would be disingenuous not to. Regretful to put the lie to Testbug's "can't we all just get along?" fantasy... or his sabotage scheme. And let's not forget to mention Elliot, who didn't exactly put on an award-winning show of indecisiveness by leaping on the indecisive player role like it was an oasis in the desert. If any one of the seven players should have been on the smart team, that surely would have been Elliot: he's done more RPing in recent years than Bulbs, and been active across more different RPs than either Texan. What motivated his claiming the indecisive player role so eagerly? Either he's selling himself short, or he recognized an opportunity for sabotage when he saw it. Unfortunately, whatever he contributed to this challenge must have been by PM, so I can't report on it accurately. But I do find it interesting that of the twelve questions originally put up for choice, all three of those which featured characters of his ended up within the chosen six -- and two out of those three ended up confounding the smart team. Fairly complex challenge here, I'm sorry the team didn't get the chance to have as much fun with it as they could have. Blame Ninety. At any rate, the next challenge will be a bit simpler. If you felt left out this time, don't worry: the upcoming task will ask each of you to individually make a small but consequential choice. THE TEAM POT: 153 EP THE MOLE'S POCKET: 137 EP

I was indecisive about whether I should PM people what I wanted. By the time I decided, it was too late. I didn't have to do anything, AND I got an exemption! Win-win
