Spriting has an almost catlike number of lives at this point. Post any new sprites you have!

Just take a sprite from a game (32 bit works best), open it up in Paint, and then just change it, using the tools. When you get better, you also can splice sprites together by deleting pieces and replacing them with other parts from other sprites.
Common Techniques: *Palette Swap: Use the fill bucket to change the colors of the sprite. Can be used to change large regions of a sprite quickly and easily. Try to match the shading of the original sprite! *Tweaks: Small, pixel by pixel changes. Don't like an expression? Use the color selector to mimic the skin tone of an area, use a small brush (one pixel square works well) to erase the features that bug you, and redraw them. Similar procedures work well for clothing features and such. To edit the edges of regions, use the above technique, but skip the deleting thing. *Splicing: To splice, delete the region of a sprite you wish to replace, and find a good replacement part on another sprite. Delete the rest of the extra parts from that sprite, leaving only the part you want to use. Select it with that dashed-line box, and drag it into place.
Customing is important, but for the most part, beyond basic spriters.
Tips: *Screwed up? Do everything in steps of three, the limit for CTRL+Z undo on here. *Remember that you can flip selected parts, allowing you to use right and left pieces interchangably. *Save early, save often. *And I tend to copy and paste multiple copies of a sprite so that I can easily splice in earlier parts that look better in the sprite.
That's about all I've got for you. Good luck!

Can I send you images as attachments to e-mail (Do you use the e-mail in your account?) If so, I can just e-mail you my full human sprite sheet, and maybe my PKMN ones tonight if I'm not too worn out.

The first two, Kaz, had sizing and formatting issues, but otherwise were executed rather well. The third one, you did a nice job on the custom and palette swapping. No qualms there. A basic but competent job. (Sprite 1: 70/100, Sprite 2: 70/100, Sprite 3: 85/100)
Ocelot, nice try for a first attempt! The only advice I can give you is try to keep your pieces proportions in check, and try to outline any areas with darker pixels to show its edges. Surprisingly competent for a spriting newbie. 90/100 (Like the custom job and matching up of the pieces!)

Ocelot: Ayup. Not a good day for you, I take it. Horrible proportion errors, even though you managed to match your colors well. Much like Loog's Irish Whip Jigging Lady became a term for broken limb sprite poses, I coin a name! CAPTAIN TUBULAR! 55/100 (Try shortening the torso a little. I might have a go at this chap tomorrow night and fix it for you.)
Kaz: Better. Feels slightly overaccessorized, and you cut off half his left-side foot, but otherwise a nice job. 80/100
El: As always, one of the greatest spriters. Can't really complain much here. Creative, interesting design, solid technique. 95/100
Loogs: A long time, but well worth the wait. Only two complaints on an otherwise nigh-perfect sprite: you forgot to edit out the sandal on his right side foot, and the hilt of the Tetsusaiga is horribly gone awry. (It's got a puff of white-tan fur, not yellow blobbiness.) But I will say I love the work with the hair and the ears, and the expression and pose are wonderful. 85/100
And all of you, it makes me EXTREMELY happy to see all you involved in spriting. It's great to see this art of the old days revived in such grand style, with four of the old greats (El, Loogs, Cinders, Myself) returning, and several promising newcomers (Ocelot, Kaz, Kevin). I think I'll go hand out some bonus EP to all y'all.
