Ok, so you guys keep hearing me talk about this "minecraft" all over the place, and it's probably what's keeping me from posting in the RP, but OH WELL THIS GAME IS GREAT. So what is it? Imagine legos with zombies with charmingly terrible graphics. Yeah. Let it simmer for a while. Basically, you are dropped in a pretty much infinite, randomly generated world with no task besides "survive." You do this by collecting resources (wood, dirt, flowers, bacon) and use a fairly simple crafting system to make things (tools he help collection, weapons, other building blocks, paintings) and eventually build yourself a shelter. You'll probably start off with a hole in some mountain with a single torch to light it up crying to yourself as you hear zombies, skeletons, and spiders outside. There are also exploding penises, but they don't make any sound besides "hisssss" but by the time you hear that it's too late and they've exploded all over you. (that's what she said) Really, though, you have the freedom to just build whatever you want and go wherever you want. It's this whole build anything that really gets me. For example, here is my Treehouse of Solitude: It's a small house built entirely out of wood and glass and it is above the cloud line. The first, big waterfall coming from it is my elevator to the top (either swim up the current like a badass or be a pansy and float a boat to the top) and the second waterfall is for the small farm I built in the greenhouse in the back. And here is me in my Hot Tub of Solitude atop my Fortress of Solitude surveying the land. You can see the fail-canal I tried to build to my Treehouse, but it didn't work as well as I hoped. Anyway, you can check out the official site at www.minecraft.net/ and play the free version where you just get to build shit or maybe even buy the full version. It's still in like mid alpha, but that's ok, because it's still fun. Maybe one day one of us can run an exodus server, too, but I doubt anyone will join me in building treehouses across the land.

This is probably why gunpowder was banned in Aleta. Oh the hubris of man. that tower used to be twice as tall until the side mounted cannon I was trying to build on it misfired not only the tnt round, but also half the propellant which was about 4 blocks of tnt the field behind my fortress used to be pretty flat until i actually got some blasts out of a simpler cannon. Also all the craters on the left side were from cannons that misfired. So dangerous!

PART ONEBehind the waterfall is the entrance to my sanctuary. There's a passage that leads to the top of the mountain where I have saplings planted to grow into trees for wood. Night view. Here's a good look at the sky bridge I made to connect the two mountains. Another view before I started adding waterfalls everywhere. Waterfalls everywhere. A ton of the land between the two mountains is flooded now. My base entrance is still really high up so the water falls for ages. I can't see when it ends in most places. After I took these screenshots I put torches all along the sky bridge and added another waterfall to the main mountain. My plans are to trick out my house (it's just stone and dirt right now) and expand deeper into the cores of each mountain. PART TWOSo after wandering around for a while (see: I got lost while I was looking for iron and had to hike all over the place for about four hours, real-time, trying to find my way back) I finally stumbled across some lava. I made a lava-fall on the outside of each mountain so I can see my base from far away at night. The nearest waterfall is coming off the roof of my new fort on the second mountain. Here's a look at the beginnings of my orchard. I put the torches all around since it looks cool at night. You can also see a lava-fall meeting a waterfall. This is my new fort on the second mountain. On the right, jutting out, is the observation deck. The sides and top are all glass with water flowing over the top. On the left is the second sky bridge I made. It's higher and narrower than the first so it's super sketchy (I fell off in the middle of making it and lost a bunch of stuff) but it makes commuting between mountains even easier. Plus it looks dope as fuck. It leads into the second floor of my fort where the observation deck is. A view of the first sky bridge from the second one. Also, the entrance to my fort. Better view of the fort entrance. Inside the second floor observation deck/art gallery. The first floor is just storage right now. I want to get more paintings. Now that my compound is pretty fleshed out I think I'll up the difficulty. I can't get gunpowder if there aren't any exploding penises around.

i has hax'd infinite tnt, but just for testing purposes. I was going to take a picture of the cannons i finally had some success with yesterday, but then i had too much fun and they blew up before i could grab a screenshot.
it's really tempting to hack in redstone, though, even though my mine is chock full of the stuff, just because i'm too lazy to go down the ladder and spend half an hour trying to navigate my way out of the cave. I should really put down signs that point toward the exit in there. Also dirt. All this testing uses up a ton of dirt. A lot of redstone and dirt get consumed in the misfires. It's pretty anti-dope.
i think once i get a successful cannon design, and once i mount it on my burned out tower, i'm going to build a moat around the tower so in case there's an impending misfile, i can dramatically jump off my tower into the water to escape the explosion.

May I just interject here and say that this is probably the stupidest and most flat-out retarded thing either of you has ever done.
That being said, how much and sign me up.

I might. Right now I'm enjoying survival mode, and that's free. I've developed a pretty huge base, though guys keep frickn spawning in it. It's largely on the side of a mountain, though I have a "house" that I'm building on top of that (I've completed the first tier, and I'm almost done with the second).
I've found a couple huge veins of minerals beneath it and they've taken me to a large cavern that has magma running through it in some areas. Currently I'm filling it in with sand.

it's definitely the best $13.50 i've spent on a game. also monsters don't spawn near light. unless it's different in survival.

It is a bit different. For example; there's no crafting.
I have thirteen fifty to spend, but I don't have a way to spend it (I don't have a credit card, or even a debit card)

You can probably buy one of those prepaid debit cards and set up a paypal with that but I'm not sure about it.

You aren't restricted to playing it on the computer that you bought it on or anything like that, are you?

No. You can even play it in a browser.

So just give it/create an account?
I realize my questions may be rather stupid, but I don't buy things online and I have to go through someone else to get this done, so I want to know what information I need to pass on to him.

oh, yeah, i understand the not having a credit card thing. i used to not have one. but basically you just make an account and then pay the sketchy paypal site (it is called Mojang) and you can play in browser or download a file to run. just remember that your worlds are stored locally so if you want to play the world on multiple computers you'll have to move it manually. there are tutorials on the internet for it, probably.

i335.photobucket.com/albums/m444/BloodWolf7/Tectis.jpg?t=1287809833Huzzah! Tectis, my three tiered farm. I'm still working on it, but it is largely done. My home is no where near as impressive, it only contains a couple chests, some furnaces (my only ones), and my workbench. Most of the resources in it are so far away I'll have to set up safe stations to get to them. My area is at least rich in coal and iron, so I can easily make some armor and go exploring. Sadly I don't have a bow (spiders are horrendously rare) and for some reason I don't have sound. Yes, I have checked my settings, so I really don't know why I don't have any sound.

Hooray! I made a cannon that doesn't destroy itself instantly! Although it has destroyed itself a couple times, but I realized I could back up saves before I did the testing. From the front, on top of the mountain that I was firing at. There's a track in the first projectile slot because I used a minecart to fire myself on top of the mountain. From the side. You can see the array of timers in the back. Sunrise close up. Fully loaded. It takes in a total of 14 TNTs on the first row and 10 on the second for propellant. However, the last two TNTS of the first row actually ignite a second before the other 22. Because they're in the back, they blow forward all the TNTs that are near the back for more explosive power. There are 4 slots for projectiles in the front, all of which will ignite around a second or two after all the propellant is armed. The farthest forward slot fires more or less straight forward while the three in the back get lobbed up when shot. Because of the three firing slots, I have a ton of different firing angles, and if the shot is too powerful going forward, I can make a single channel of propellant instead of a double channel. I tried making a video of me firing the thing, but the FPS dropped so low when I engaged fraps that the timing was all off. The rear pusher TNTs blew up without water (a problem I fixed when I reloaded), which ignited the rest of the TNTs (it was fully loaded) which all blew up in my face. And then I landed on top of that mountain in the second picture because that file is on peaceful and I'm wearing diamond armor. So now, I suppose I need to start mining for the stuff in world 1 so I can build it into my wall and start shooting bitches. Either that, or I wait until the halloween update to start a new game and slowly work my way up to the cannon.

I need to get to the point where I can build a cannon... It's just hard to do when I go down into my mines and get jumped by zombies and skeletons and spiders. Armor does help a bit, but still....
Ugh... what I NEED to do is make a safe station inside my caverns. That and signs. I don't get lost, but I often can't find my way back to my stuff.
Oh! Yesterday I found some diamond (and a lot of redstone, though that does me little good at this point in time). I just have to open up that area so that I can mine it. Currently I'm digging out a large area that I've titled "The Hollow", which is actually more profitable than it would initially seem. I think that I'll turn it into a storage area once I'm done. Maybe I'll use the rooms I've developed for furnaces later on.

That cannon is actually made from hacked in items. World 3 is my designated "experiment with red stone and TNT" file. Up until about a minute ago, I had infinite obsidian, infinite TNT, diamond with negative damage, infinite redstone, etc. But then I screwed up launching myself to do a distance check (my minecart fell into the propellant channel) and got launched ridiculously high in the air and died on ground impact. Also whenever I see stuff like this while wandering around both overground and underground I feel like the double raindow. "whaaaat waterfall cavern all the way..."

Out of curiosity, how do you avoid getting lost when straying away from your base? Right now I'm using a beacon system which is made up of several 5 block pillars with torches going around them. This far it seems to be ok at night.
Also, I've found some cacti. I'm going to plant them around my base and use them as a first line of defense.
