OOC: This is a private RP between myself and a friend of mine. While I'm posting (and writing) the initial post, he'll be calling the shots from this point on. (With so many private RPs, there may as well be a section just for Private RPs)
Whitefall. Elliot had never been there before, but he'd heard plenty about it. The colony orbited a blue gas giant and was exclusively inhabited by military personnel and their families. It was also the farthest colony in human space.
"Now docking with Whitefall Orbital Station"
Elliot sighed. While most other soldiers on board the Hydra were looking forward to the bit of leave that they were going to be allowed while the ship was being resupplied, Elliot loathed the mission that he'd be on before too much longer.
But, then again, being alone with Azzy for an extended time, both during the leave and after, was an appealing thought. Heck, he might not even have to spend a week in the hospital after this mission. ---------------------------------------------------------------
Whitefall was surprisingly lush for a moon in orbit around a planet that may as well have been Neptune. He turned to face the rest of his team.
"So guys, what first? The beach? Arcade? Giant ferris- wheel that makes Azzy cling to me?"
Jimmy rolled his eyes at the comment and averted his eyes to the inevitable beating that Azira would soon give him. "Better idea, I'll go see if there are any newer drop ships that we can get loaded onto the Hydras. You guys have fun, I'll meet up with you later."

Dom sighed, having been to Whitefall once before a few years ago and now found himself preoccupied by a personal memory while gazing out the window at the lush moon. He held his words, as usually, until feeling he had something meaningful to say.
Azira rolled her eyes at Elliot's comment as if half annoyed and half amused and then socked him in the shoulder rather hard as was her trade mark with him. "You've always got something sassy to say don't you?"
"Well I already know what I'm going to do on my leave time, gonna hit a few clubs, have a few drinks and find a few girls", commented Jake as he leaned his shoulder against the wall with his arms crossed, a tooth pick between his teeth. "You should come along commander, couple nice girls would loosen you up good, your too tense after that last mission."
"Jake, I'm really not the clubbing type, if I came along it would only be to make sure you don't get yourself into too much trouble, the last thing we need is an incident that we have to explain to General Higgens", said Dom as he turned towards the rest of the team and leaned his back against the wall next to the window.
"Well I suppose that's fair then, if it gets you off the ship for some reason other than having to shoot baddies", commented Jake.
Azira scoffed at Jake and his ways, "the commander doesn't need clubs and drinks and whores, hes far more respectable than that."
Jake wrinkled his nose in disagreement, "please, a man's a man and a man has needs, even if he doesn't admit it openly. I'll be waitin on the station for ya commander."

"A man's a man" began Elliot while hiding a smirk "but we're still trying to figure out what you are." He chuckled at his own joke and took a few steps away from the group.
"As for you, dear Azzy, what are your plans for the afternoon? I'm having a hard time thinking of what there is here that would entertain you."

Azira gave a slightly teasing smile, her exotic brown eyes seeking to get Elliot to make a real effort. "Well, when you figure it out, I'll be in the work out room with a punching bag." She turned and walked off without another word, her ass swaying tantalizingly.
"Well, if you want my advice just ask, otherwise I better go make sure Jake doesn't kill someone", commented Dom, still leaning against the wall, now waiting for Elliot's reply.

"Jake usually passes out before the alcohol has a chance to do more than give him a headache." He said, his eyes now following Azira as she walked away. "But now I'm curious, what is your advice?"
Once she was out of sight he faced Dom. "More romance advice I take it? Or are you going to suggest I follow you to the golf course?"
The idea of golfing was absurd, but he was so unsure of what to do here that it may as well. Hopefully night would present something else, but that was still hours away. He sighed, being on leave might be a glorious thing, but it didn't prevent him from feeling completely bored.

Dom turned back to the window, looking out at Whitefall as he recalled a memory before speaking. "I'm sure by now that you've come to realize, as I do, that Azira is into you. You've also made it clear that you're into her, but you still haven't made it clear to her and she's looking for a commitment. She's waiting for you to show her what you want."
He sighed and turned back to Elliot, his partner in arms for many years now and someone whom he considered a friend. "I know its not really my place, but Whitefall has a lot of really nice restaurants that look fancy and expensive, but are actually affordable on any military salary. Why not take her out to a nice dinner, let her know how you feel, you know, talk, communicate your feelings man."
Dom turned and started to walk away, but stopped and looked back again at his friend, "you've got something special that's worth pursuing, and in our line of work that doesn't come along very often and you never know when a mission will be your's or someone else's last. Don't let her slip through your fingers, and enjoy it while you can because you know as well as I do that if everything goes to hell...there's no guarantee all of us will come out of it alive."
The tone of Dom's speech suggested that he was speaking from personal experience and if that was so it was clearly something from his past that even Elliot was not aware of. The demeanor of Dom's walk as he departed only reinforced the possibility that he had experienced the very same thing he had just warned Elliot about.

"Sometimes I wonder if he's the thick one." muttered Elliot as he walked away.
Regardless of whatever Elliot had done in the past, the commander was always saying the same thing to him about commitment. Lately it was beginning to make him feel like he was supposed to have been cut from the same piece of slime that Jake was.
Admittedly Jake wasn't as bad as everyone joked around, not always anyways. But Jake still was rather shallow and typically dense, which is probably what caused him to go insane in the com station back on the mine. Still though, if there was anyone in need of a good talk about commitment it was him.
Azzy... Azira... she probably wasn't quite past the jocular side of him. But he had done things with her that Dom didn't know about, and would probably never know about. The kiss they had shared, and the exchange they had in her room.
"And with any luck," began Elliot. "I'll see more of that again tonight."

"I certainly hope Jake didn't leave without me, the last thing I need right now is to deal with him getting into trouble and then the general finding out I wasn't there to stop it." Dom grumbled to himself quietly as he walked to the docking port to exit the ship onto Whitefall's orbital station.
Shore leave for the team was always a big pain in the ass for Dom simply because the highlight of it for him was making sure Jake didn't get into too much trouble, which with Jake's way of letting loose at clubs and the like, happened far too often for Dom's liking.
Admittedly though, Dom had little else to do during shore leave, but for him having little else to do was more enjoyable than having to babysit a grown man that enjoyed alcohol and as many girls as he could get to himself, a grown man who also liked to pick fights over those girls he wanted for himself.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Hydra was always bustling with activity, especially being an Alliance cruiser, but during resupply stops things always seemed to get more complicated than they should and for General Higgens there was always some unforeseen complication that made his job harder than he liked.
General Higgens was an old school officer, one of the previous generation 'do it by the book' kind of officers, but he still had great respect for the younger soldiers under his command, even if their tactics weren't always by the book, but it was always a source of great aggravation for him when he had to summon one of his men to his office because someone higher up said they did something wrong.
My superiors don't know my men the way I do, yet they never take my word for anything when I vouch for them and then they allow a man in a suit more authority than I have, General Higgens thought as he reluctantly got on the ship's loudspeaker to summon Elliot to his office.
"ATTENTION, THIS IS GENERAL HIGGENS! LIEUTENANT! I NEED YOU TO REPORT TO MY OFFICE IMMEDIATELY, THERE'S A MATTER WE NEED TO DISCUSS!"
As he waited the general rubbed his eyes tiredly, looking forward to when the stress of this resupply stop would finally be over and the Hydra moved on with it's mission. Even though his job was stressful, he had no desire to retire, partly because he wouldn't know what to do if he left the Alliance and the other part was that he didn't want to abandon his men, Dom, Elliot, Jake, Azira and the few others on the ship, he felt they needed him, he felt that he was the cushion between them and his less forgiving superiors who had been out of the field too long to understand what it was like out here, serving and dieing among the stars.

Elliot inwardly flinched when the general's voice came over the loudspeaker. Part of him wanted to just sit still and pretend that it was an order for some other lieutenant, but the only lieutenant ever summoned directly by the general was him.
"I'm starting to think that dinner with Azzy is going to be canceled tonight..." he groaned aloud. ------------------------------------------------------
About twenty minutes later Elliot stood outside the general's office, still in his civilian clothes and waiting for the general's ill-humored secretary to announce his arrival.

To one side of the door to the general's office, opposite his secretary, stood a buff, unfamiliar looking black man in a dark suit, clearly having a federal air about him. From inside the general's office came the sounds of arguing, the second voice sounding unfamiliar and unforgiving.
The general's secretary seemed to ignore Elliot's presence until the argument seemingly ceased and at that moment she proceeded to call into the general's office and let him know that Elliot had arrived and then subsequently notified Elliot that the general would see him now.
As Elliot entered the general's office, the general looked at him from behind his desk with a look of uncertainty in his eyes and seemed as if he wanted to trust as always that Elliot had done nothing wrong, but seemed as if he'd learned something that made him doubt Elliot this time. "Have a seat Lieutenant, we need to discuss something," the general said finally, sounding as if his hands were tied.
Behind and to the left of the general stood another man in a dark suit, about the general's height if he were standing, smaller build than the suit standing outside and white, early forties, bald and with cold, unforgiving, light blue eyes that gave a chilling sense that he could see right through you.
"This is agent Pike, from Naval Internal Affairs," the general said as the man stepped closer to the desk. "It seems he has a few questions for you, about some missing weapons."

"Wait, why am I being questioned about this? All the weapons I've used were reported at the end of the last mission. If weapons have gone missing then shouldn't my entire team be here? Or is this where you attempt to break me down into nothing?"
The outward indignation on Elliot's face began faded away and was shortly replaced by a look of indifference. To him it was nothing more than the higher-ups attempting to apply more pressure on them. More than likely their next mission would be heavily monitored, perhaps by "agent Pike" himself, and he'd probably be choosing what their weapon set was, and who would be using which weapon. The thought of it left a very foul taste in Elliot's mouth.

Agent Pike's emotionless expression changed very little as he crossed his arms and simply starred right through Elliot with his cold, blue eyes, an air of arrogant superiority surrounding him as he finally spoke in a cold, demeaning tone of voice. "Yes, I read your report, I also went and had a chat with the armory officer and read the weapons log from just before your previous mission, the log had no record of the weapons you used ever being logged out, yet...they were missing from the armory and they were in your possession." He pulled the log out of his jacket and slapped it on the desk before Elliot, "no record of you logging them out whatsoever and, on top of that, the armory officer said you never came down before the previous mission, are you calling him a liar?" Agent Pike asked as he glared at Elliot.
General Higgens cleared his throat a bit, "specifically the weapons Agent Pike is speaking of are the prototype plasma rifle and plasma grenades that you mentioned using in your report, now I'm sure this is probably all a misunderstanding, but we require an explanation to clarify Lieutenant."

"I find it interesting that the first thing you do is accuse me of being a liar. Did you consider that perhaps the armory officer forgot that I was there? Or perhaps that the machines were wrong? Computers have a tendency to screw things up. Now, I don't understand what the point of calling me down here to talk about weapons that were proven to be in my custody, that I have admitted to taking, is. There's really no need to even explain myself, weapons are meant to be used, and prototypes require field experience instead of just lab testing, and I am qualified to use these particular ones. So, instead of harrassing people for doing their jobs, why don't you do yours, Mr Pike, or do you just hate taxpayers?"
Elliot chuckled, slightly at his own joke, but mostly that it more than likely went over Pike's head.

Agent Pike continued to stare at Elliot coldly and then slowly gave a sinister smile and leaned forward to place his hands on the desk as he looked right into his eyes. "Your lucky the cameras never showed you near the armory when those weapons went missing, so I don't know how you got your hands on them, but if they don't turn back up in the armory before the Hydra leaves port, I'll have you arrested, one phone call and your career is over soldier, dishonorable discharge, denial of military pension and you'll be charged with military espionage, conspiracy to smuggle federal issue weaponry and if those weapons turn up in the hands of rebels, you can add treason to that list. You know if all that happens to you then the rest of your team will be investigated as well, disbanded pending the outcome of a full investigation and their records will be tarnished for life regardless of whether they are charged with anything. I certainly hope your ready to explain that to them and to live with knowing you ruined their careers and their lives." After finishing his rant Agent Pike snatched the file from the desk and left the office very calmly, the door sliding shut behind him.
General Higgens rubbed his head, clearly not liking this situation, "I believe you Lieutenant, I do, but I've heard a lot about this Agent Pike, even if there is no evidence of wrong doing he'll make you guilty and he's got a long, shady past. I don't like this, I don't like it at all..." He said, shaking his head.

"That's exactly why I took them in the first place. It's nice to know the face of the enemy, it really is. Those weapons were put back shortly after we got back. I'll ask Jimmy to make sure that they're there until we leave, lest agent fish-face tries to get rid of them. What he's not stating is that I was already given access to them, I don't technically need to see anyone except the it's technicians and I need to submit reports about how it operated. It's kept in the armory for safety reasons, the only other thing that concerns them is inventory."
Elliot sighed and shook his head. "Treason. Sir, you know as well as us that something is going on. I don't like it at all.

General Higgens stood up and paced a bit, "I don't know what Agent Pike is looking for, but I'll get in touch with my superiors, perhaps they know something about this that they'll be willing to tell me. In the meantime you go ahead and get Jimmy to keep an eye on the armory, besides that I want you to go about things as usual, we don't need to attract any further suspicion. So I suggest you go and enjoy your leave like a normal person, I'll see what I can dig up." The general moved to his computer terminal and picked up the phone seeming determined.

He then sighed and left the general to his work.

Dom shoved his hands into his pockets and looked up into the darkening sky, admiring the sunset from Whitefall's surface and taking a moment of peace before turning towards the 'Night Life' night club, giving an annoyed sigh as Jake quickly went inside not even waiting for him. Dom grumbled for a second and then went in after him, Jake already hooking up with multiple girls within minutes of walking in and taking them to the bar. "This is gonna be a long night," Dom grumbled as he looked around the large club for any suspicious characters or anyone he thought Jake might end up having a problem with. At times, however, he wasn't able to help, but focus on the many pole dancing girls around the club in their tiny thongs and non-existent tops leaving their ample chests to bounce and jiggle.
"Whoo! Come on over commander! Drinks are on me!" Yelled out Jake from the bar, surrounded by topless women and having a drink in each hand. He didn't really seem to expect Dom to come over, but figured he might as well invite him to.
Dom shook his head, "nah I'm fine, have your fun Jake," he replied in return and then quickly diverted his attention back to surveying the club, inwardly wishing he had something better to do than baby sit a grown man at a night club.

Elliot pulled out his phone as he left the general's waiting room and called Dom. After a few failed tries he let out an exasperated sigh and called Jimmy instead.
"Hey Jimmy, do you have a minute?"
"Yes sir."
"We're being investigated by an "Agent Pike". I was called into the general's office and chewed out by him for using the plasma weapons." He paused and let out another sigh. "He's threatening to have me tried with treason if they don't reappear in the armory."
"But sir, they-"
"I know, and I'm on my way to make sure they stay there. Listen, I need you to find our dear black sheep of a leader and make sure that he knows about this. He'll probably be holding Jake's leash, so you should know the type of place."
"Glad I didn't lose that bet."
"Tell him that this guy seems to have it out for us, so we all need to stay on our toes. The general can tell that something is about to happen, but even he doesn't know how bad it's going to be."
"Anything else sir?"
"Yeah, see if you can find Azzy. Ask her to see if she can find anything on this 'Agent Pike' guy. I want to know just how much shit we're about to have dropped on us."
"I'll try sir." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It took an hour, but Jimmy eventually found the commander. He was sitting somewhat distantly from Jake, who was busy fondling women. Averting his eyes, Jimmy made his way to the commander.

Dom blinked a bit, not having expected Jimmy to show up at the club. "Jimmy, didn't expect to see you in this niche of the woods, but I'm gonna take a guess and say your not here to join in Jake's filthy pleasures."
At about that same moment three shady looking men in long black trench coats and black shades came in the club's front door, unnoticed by Dom or Jimmy and certainly not by Jake who was too busy indulging himself in lustful pleasures. The men looked around the club and then split up as if not entirely sure of the appearance of the person or person's they clearly seemed to be looking for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Agent Pike closed his phone as if he had just called in something important and casually slipped it into his coat pocket as a sinister smile crossed. "That ought to give them a little something to think about," he mumbled as he turned and walked down the empty corridor towards the captain's quarters in a very official manner with the other buff looking agent, that was outside the general's office earlier, walking at his back in the same manner.

"The lieutenant called me and asked me to tell you something. He was called into the general's office and questioned about the plasma rifles by an agent Pike, who threatened him with treason if the weapons weren't returned. I know that that can't be legal, but that's still a pretty serious threat. He says that we should watch ourselves from now on... I think that this may be our cue to get Jake out of here. Also, he wanted me to find Azira and see if she could find anything out about agent Pike, do you know where I could find her?"
|

Post by SHADOWMASTER89 on Nov 16, 2010 1:25:36 GMT -5
Dom blinked a bit and rubbed his chin thoughtfully "can't say I saw that coming, why would the government send an agent to threaten us over a couple of weapons that were all properly logged out and accounted for?" Dom pondered a moment, "this doesn't make any sense, our record has been exemplary from the start, maybe this Agent Pike has other motivations and if that's the case hes not getting away with threatening my team," Dom clenched his fist.
"As for Azira she was still on the ship when Jake and I left, but that was hours ago."
Suddenly a shot rang out in the club and a splatter of blood bursted from Jimmy's left shoulder and Dom reacted quickly and drew his pistol while pushing Jimmy to the floor. "Get down!" Dom yelled as people began to scream and flee from the club.
Jake quickly dove to the floor next to Jimmy and drew his pistol to as more shots rang out from the back of the club hitting the table the three of us had chosen for cover. Two shotgun blasts were then heard near the entrance to the club, the two club bouncers being shot for attempting to intervene.
Dom fired back over the table and quickly tried dialing Elliot on his phone, "come on man, pick up!"

Jimmy collapsed onto the floor. Wasn't this the reason why he flew the plane instead of going out on foot with the rest of the team? To avoid being shot by all the people they were constantly fighting?
Suddenly Jake was on the floor too, causing Jimmy to momentarily fear that he'd been shot as well, but then he drew his pistol and began firing at whoever it was that started the confrontation. Jimmy then looked over at the commander, who was taking cover and attempting to call in back-up. "S-sir, give me the phone. I'll try calling t-the lieutenant."

Dom nodded to Jimmy, handing him the phone, "stay with us man, we'll get outta this in one piece." Dom quickly resumed firing over the table, the combatants being the same three shady looking men in long black trench coats and dark shades, that had slipped unnoticed into the club just minutes earlier.
Jake fired towards the front of the club, trying to take out the third combatant, ducking briefly as a shotgun blast hit the wall near him. "Kinda wish I had a shotgun right now!"
"Yeah, I reckon that would come in pretty handy right about now!" remarked Dom as he fired over the table again, finally dropping one of the two pistol wielding assailants at the back of the club. "Got one!"
"There's only three of em, who's counting!?", remarked Jake as he fired towards the front again.

Jimmy tapped in the numbers as quickly as he could, only to be met with a brief tone before the phone disconnected.
"Sorry sir." He said quietly. A strange sensation began to fill his body. Was it the fabled shock that others had spoken of? Or just a spreading numbness from the hole in his shoulder? He wasn't sure. He knew he was bleeding, that the pain in his shoulder was both increasing and at the same time fading away.

"Damn, must be a bad signal." Dom grumbled and fired over the table again. "Come on Jimmy, stay with us man" he grabbed some napkins off the floor and put them against the hole in Jimmy's shoulder and then placed his hand on it. "Hold that tight Jimmy."
Jake fired several shots towards the front again, finally dropping the guy with the shotgun. "Got him!" he remarked as he scooted over to tend to Jimmy while Dom continued to fire over the table until the third gunman finally fell to the floor.
"Jake you wanna try your phone and see if you can get a hold of Elliot?" asked Dom as he stood and looked around the now deserted club and then aimed toward the front door in case any other uninvited guests were on their way in.
"Sure, might as well" Jake flipped open his phone and dialed Elliot's emergency number and waited for him to pick up.
