To be fair, Maude and Flora, and the majority of Kevin's cast is curvy. And Thyra's got a decent set of hips to her, though she isn't busty. (The whole "able to fly" thing ameliorates any doubts about a character's mobility, in a way.)
Oh, and there's Loogs' character Vathale, which is what happens when you take Loogs' policy towards measurements and apply it to a female character.

After I spent the first week of my break posting once a day in the RP, I spent the second week drawing. Here then are some more characters. The first two drawings are of already established characters introduced in Ishkabibble -- Commissioner Williams, and Flo & Hugh from Charles Tanner's group. The rest of them are Never Before Seen previews. I won't say their names or anything yet since those aren't totally finalized. Although in fact I was at least feeling confident enough about two of their names to include them in the Chumhandles topic. Oh and also one of these characters was alluded to in that flowchart thing. Yeah. I kind of plan ahead. Anyway here we go.

Wow, some nice ones there. Really liking Flo, the person who I'm assuming to either be a Casey Jones/improvised weaponry type, and the circus style trainer down bottom. Some good stuff right there. Especially of note, that Croagunk (toxicroak? I can't get them straight.) is the best one I've ever seen, even compared to the official art. That's pretty awesome.
I also really like improvised weapons chick. Though that my just be my affection for girls in striped shirts coming through. I'm guessing she's named Channery, no? If so, awesome. I really need to salvage my affectionate MSTKing of "The Operation" from my old computer... Though it'll probably need rewriting, since it was penned Pre-Triannual, and Pre-Ishkabibble. I think Natalie would have some more... Direct comments about an individual named Terrian these days.
Ignacio's a pretty neat design. I think I'm the only person who really has an idea on where the fellow will be turning up, and I have to say that I'm excited to see where he's going. I don't think we've had a good circus type in years. The Croagunk (?) and Spoink, as said earlier, are some awesome stuff, and I like his jacket design a ton.
Flo's great. I think she might be my favorite outright design on your cast, though a few have some interesting aesthetics and such. Very stylish, cute design, and great details on the choker and camera. I may be slightly biased about any curvy redheads, I will admit. (One detail that may need polishing is both her middle fingers. Otherwise, she looks fine, but one middle finger is... kinda odd looking, and the other is missing a nail.)
It's hard to tell where you're going with Esther, but the drawing itself is very nice. I'm curious on how she turns up.

Here's the full-sized banner, minus the text, for ORP (Photu's Phat Mixx). Observations from left to right: - I actually drew Tanner holding the pocket watch before I decided to make him the figure in the photograph Tom gives to Renard. So that kind of worked out. - Esther is my favorite character to draw. Hands-down. God, I love her hair. Soooo coooool. - All three of the G-Bros got revamped a little this time, I feel. I really like how Massimo came out this time -- I think he's one of the best in the drawing. Cesare's quite a little bit different, but better than his first design, I think. I'm still not sure about Nico. Might need slightly more hair, but I didn't want to go overboard with him right next to Shouta. - Speaking of Nico and Shouta, man they must be biffles right? Wow! Look at those two! Buddies forever, that's them! Oh, Shouta's holding a Nerf-esque toy gun there in case it wasn't clear. - And on the subject of no sense of personal space, huh. Masha's... Masha's gettin' a little touchy-feely there with Misha. Not entirely sure how that happened. I guess I just figured, in the planning stages, that everyone should be holding something, and somehow it ended up that instead of holding something himself, Misha kind of became the thing that Masha was holding. - Rhometer's hair. Is it (a) "bitchin'"; (b) "boss"; (c) "holy shit"? General observation: I'm really glad I'm capable of drawing a diverse range of facial structures, hair styles and body types! Because I am apparently not capable of drawing a diverse range of facial expressions. Nope. Pretty much everyone in there except Terrian and Esther is wearing either a sullen glare or an enigmatic smile. (And Esther borders on the sullen glare, although she's less sullen and more harried.) I should work on that.

A little Homestuck fanart (probably a margin-breaker if I inserted it directly into this post) inspired by somebody suggesting that the White Queen adopt the Courtyard Droll as a pet.

I know, I know. No blotch with tendrils on the forehead of the mask. I couldn't divine a way to do it that didn't look either dumb or too Rorschach-y. I gave Mandelbrot a name tag with a bar code on it instead. For some reason this seemed like an appropriate decorative tradeoff. Thanks to Brian Blessed for posing for this one. Now you might be curious as to why his belt doesn't appear to be supported by any straps. Let me assure you that that is an idiotic question. Obviously Jonas is so fat his pants don't have a hope of sliding down his waist. That belt is there as a technicality and nothing else. It's all so simple you wondered why you bothered to ask. soooo cooooooolThis one took me by surprise. I had no intention of drawing Jacqueline until about thirty seconds before I started drawing her. While I was working on one of the others, all of a sudden it struck me: "Poofy pants. Who would wear poofy pants? Jacqueline would wear poofy pants." Except I actually have no idea what she would wear or what she looks like in general, so sorry if this is way off from Kuroboom's vision. Call it an experiment. Couple of modifications to the Dunsparce design here, with more visible scales and that little gear design on the underside of the drill. More surprises. In the same vein, I had no idea McCrowley wore glasses until drawing this. Really adds that crucial touch of sophistication, don't you find? My favorite.

Sexy Helen is sexy. Funny how I downplayed it in favor of womanly dignity, while Pohatu played it up. I wonder if the blatantly sexualized voice I wrote her with in Ishk8 has anything to do with it? Other than a surprisingly burlesque costume and a bit too heavy on the lipstick, it's spot on. Perfect facial shape and great hairstyle, awesome figure and choice of posture... I'm just wondering what would prompt such an outfit... (Not that it's entirely beyond her possible outfits, considering she does shows in Vegas...) Maybe this is Helen as encountered by Rhys in some dream world in a future RP? (Oh, and I forgot to mention, GREAT JOB ON THE HAT. I spent like twenty minutes trying to get the one on the sprite looking good. It's hard to get that perfect proportion of "Outrageous Hat" without making your character look like a pinhead or a bobblehead.)
Gideon is great, too. Lanky and distinctive, with this great grungy feeling to him. He and Helen both really flaunt your expressive style well, being unique enough characters with outlandish enough appearances that you can really hit it out of the park. Dunsparce, as I learned in highschool when I still drew by hand, is one of the few Pokemon that really looks GOOD when translated into a more realistic design, and yours is no exception. The tail's a neat design, and I like how you turned the "flat" body of the typical Dunsparce into a pudgier shape for the sluggish Pokemon.
Jacqueline is pretty awesome. Not my favorite, but I guess it's because she has a cold appearance as wearing mime makeup naturally would lend itself to. The poofy pants are fantastic, and I like your choice to keep experimenting with figures.
HAY KAZ WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN POHATU'S ART TOPIC.
The one change I'd make on Jonas would be upping the ammount of beard. That right there is a beard I could grow in a week. Jonas needs UBER beard. Like ZZ Tops style beard. Of course, such a magnificent chin pelt would obscure the great details on his neck muscles and upper chest, but I think you could really hit it out of the park if you played with a giant beard like that. (I love the detail in the teeth! Fantastic!)
As for Mandelbrot, fantastic. Nice adaptation distillation with the nametag, perfectly executed androgyny, and a menacing posture. If I was you, the one change I'd be wanting to make would be adding a blood-smile fading into the mask. If done right, it could be the thing that shifted Mandelbrot from "creepy, unsettling" to "nightmare fuel".

NOOOOOOOOOOPCSAAAAAAAAAAAAA-KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN I hope this can be regarded as a fairly definitive depiction of Huckabee, hewed so closely as it was from the reference image Biscuit posted in 50154]his bio. Maybe I should have experimented a little more, but that "The Killer" image is such a superb character portrait I've never been able to see Huck any other way. On the other hand, Rance is probably bound for some really mixed reviews. I knew I was sinking as soon as I read that Ninety pictures him as Timothy Olyphantine, but I'm not giving up on this image. Bald, trim, clean-shaven Rance would have been boring to me (I dare even say he would have been detestable to me, but that's probably just because the only Olyphant film I've seen is Hitman). I needed a coarser look for Rance to contrast Huck's bookish countenance. So don't picture this Timothy Olyphant, you stutid fuckass. Picture this one. This one. THIS F*CKING TIMOTHY OLYPHANT!Obviously there was no way I could step to Choobs' friend's 43469]utterly fantastic Vieve portrait. But that's as it should be. Even so, Vieve is one of those characters I couldn't really... not ever draw. Like, that would be wrong. So here she is. Consider this a completist move rather than a competitive one. Whoa! Were you expecting Inspector Denham Landsvale to get a drawing? I can only assume you were not. It is so funny how these things happen. Anyway, somewhere around the time of drawing Landsvale's baggy eyelids, pale pale irises, and expression of weary resignation, I realized he was reminding me a lot of the unnamed undead protagonist of Hanna is Not a Boy's Name. So I said to hell with it and gave him some mega-pronounced cheekbones (also he's a zombie now. No he is not but I'm making that joke so Choobs won't). Altogether I'm actually really fond of Landsvale -- I think he's one of my best so far. The face came out nicely age-ambiguous (I'm not sure how old he is), and the body shape and posture turned out great. Go Landsvale. (N.B.: He's the first one since Shouta to have those aforementioned pale irises. I quite like what that adds in both cases, even though it does something different for each of them.) The obligatory trainer. It's Ophelia. Not my most satisfactory work, but i was trying a lot that I hadn't tried before. Actually all in all I think she came out pretty decent, I'm just not that happy with the Pokemon. Lousy Gen I designs. Why was Gen II the only one to properly nail the simplicity-to-flourishes ratio? Gen I was too plain and everything since then has been too complex. I was going to draw the Gengar too, but I realized I was pencilling a sphere with spikes, limbs and a face and I had to give up and erase it. It just made me feel... dirty. Blurgh. Bleurggh. Whatever. Ophelia. Herself, not too shabby. This is, I think, a pretty loyal depiction of Antonio's appearance in 47884]Entertain the Masses, though with baggier sleeves and the addition of fingerless gloves. I don't know why the fingerless gloves. I think because it contributed to the overall aesthetic I was going for with him, which was meant to be "Smooth operator, but with just a dash of juvenile delinquent" (inspired mostly by Elliot's stipulation that Antonio has "shaggy hair falling just short of his eyes"). The fingerless gloves I guess were meant to contribute to the juvenile delinquent bit? Maybe? Do juvenile delinquents wear fingerless gloves? Is Ash Ketchum a juvenile delinquent? This started off being Thyra as seen in Luxury Train Ride, but then I decided to go with a plain light-colored dress instead of the black-with-white-dots number Lee described, because I did not wish to sacrifice DEM WRINKLES AND FOLDS. Seriously, look at those, and then imagine if I'd inked the dress in. Would have lost something, huh? By "something" I mean "everything." Also she's wearing normal glasses here and I know Lee said she wears sunglasses normally, but sunglasses looked weird. No glasses also looked weird. So normal glasses it is.

Very, very nice Nopcsa. The outift and pose are perfect (the cravat is surprisingly fitting! I’ll have to have him wear one in some RP). He’s missing the embroidery, but I can easily understand why you wouldn’t touch that detailing (heck, I won’t even try it, so I won’t hold you accountable. ) The one detail which varies at all from my original view is the directions of the scars. I’d seen them as cheekbone-down-to-jaw, not cheekbone-across-to-ear, but I think I might flip to your camp. It certainly changes the relevant scene in Emet a bit, and I think I like that version more. As is, I’ll probably edit this image to make the scars stretch a wee bit further towards his ear, and I think it’s a perfect Nopcsa. (One other detail I caught on the scroll down, GREAT posture and sense of movement with the legs. Really ties the whole thing together, and gives him a sense of movement that carries UP the body.) Huckabee and Rance provides evidence that people should be mindful of pairing up their characters. Pohatu will take the two, and milk their differences for all they’re worth. (The inevitable Hector and Yoshimitsu duo pick will have Hector towering out of frame with his head cut off, and Yoshi being about 4 ft. tall.) On a more serious note, Huckabee is brilliant. He’s got an older looking frame, a feeling of being worn down upon by the world, but still is carrying that slight edge of sinister menace that really makes his duality work. Playing up the tendons in the back of his hands is a subtle touch, but I think does wonders for the image. I’ll vouch for Mustache!Rance. I think I like the rougher image it gives him. Also helps enhance his country-living, fairly rugged lifestyle, in contrast to Huckabee’s hygienic, somewhat uninspiring cover lifestyle. My favorite part is the jacket. A really utilitarian looking number that says “Rance!” pretty clearly, even if we didn’t see him wearing it. Vieve is cute. Nice touch on melding her into the shadows effectively, and a great hairstyle that really fits her “half Victorian complexity, half childish and simple” image. The tattoos are also pretty neat, with some real sinuous designs going on. Nice positioning, drawing the eye to the incongruity in the midst of an otherwise fairly innocent seeming image. (The umbrella is a bit sturdier than I’d expect from Vieve, but considering who she is, it’s not much of a stretch. Who knows? Maybe in Shadowplay, she’ll summon up a sturdier bumbershoot to help her keep up with the other characters.) (Interestingly enough, the ever disapproving MSWord recognizes bumbershoot as a valid word. Huh.) Landsvale is totally a change of pace from your typical selections. Normally, since you go for the more exotic and elaborate designs, it’s refreshing to see you tackle an everyman type of character. The face and proportions are spot on, they really give him a certain feel. I could easily see running into his type in the supermarket or on the street. It’s hard to find a single attribute to praise, as it’s the whole package that really brings him to life. If I had to pick one thing, it’s the emotion he carries. His posture and expression really put the viewer into his head. Ophelia herself is great. The vest’s details are spot on, the expression and posture are perfect… She, as a singular entity, may be my favorite drawing of yours. She manages to look “mature” while still staying youthful looking, with a very bullyish vibe to her. The headband works nicely too, contributing to the atmosphere of toughness. The shaggy hair, the stance… Yeah, she’s brilliant. Spitfire… I didn’t like him initially, but after some looking and pondering, and realizing that you were trying for a more archaic style of dragon, I really started to like him. Makes the fairly bland Charizard much more visually appealing, and also gives the image a much more villainous touch. I really don’t know what to say about sludge. Not sure what you were trying for there. Interesting aesthetically, but you might be overthinking Muk. I find Muk’s best aesthetic is the standard “rising up from the earth”, with an arm halfway rising and halfway melting back down. Like a vengeful spirit in shackles, wailing for blood. Antonio is cool. He’s a character who always slips by me on the fringe, so I can’t say that I know much of him beyond the ratings he received and the one RP I’ve been in with him (I missed his post in The Exploration.) The best parts of the picture would have to be the hair (which may be some of the best hair you’ve ever drawn) and the mask, which is just plain neat. Props for making a stereotypical “sneaky” post actually look aesthetically pleasing and kinda cool. (Ooh, just caught the card “holsters” on his hips. Nice little detail.) Thyra is just a hair away from perfect. The figure really shows how important a character’s figure is to your style, providing an underlying basis for the emotions and stylistic flairs you layer over it (indeed, I think the figure was the one underlying flaw that doomed the otherwise solid Emily drawing). The gloomy expression is a bit different, but it contrasts nicely with a lot of your other drawings, which all trend towards smirks/grins or neutral expressions. Her pose captures the character’s underlying grace well, and the shape of her gown hints on a subconscious level the character’s ability to fly with those neat winglike drapings. The texture on the gown is really the star of the show though, with all sorts of elaborate movements and textures. Really subdued and realistic, and really well done. (I can’t emphasize enough how perfect you got her figure, BTW. I thought it’d be a hard one to nail, considering how Thyra falls outside the typical body types for ORP (Athletic, Curvaceous, Idealized Sexy (that is, tiny waist, huge knockers), or Undeveloped.) You really captured the exact right details for her.) Heck, you did well enough on her that I think I’ll withdraw her from the contest list, and allow other people or characters a sooner chance at illustration. As is, this is exactly the Thyra that I would want.

Hitman is not a good thing to judge Olyphant by, hahah. Man, I'm so mixed on Rance like you wouldn't believe! On the one hand I think you nailed his demeanor quite nicely. On the other, I think he looks a bit like a pedophile! I think it might be the tactical turtleneck, his...tactleneck, in addition to the mustache. I like the 'stache though. I kind of wish Rance was doing something to annoy Huck. Maybe he just farted? Still, I dig. I think we can agree that it shouldn't be this Timothy Olyphant. EDIT: I thought the muk was a pile of dead fish that she was going to feed to the charizard.

(the cravat is surprisingly fitting! I’ll have to have him wear one in some RP) I fucking know!! I was just in a play about the Bronte sisters and wore a cravat. Hence, when I started Nopcsa, I knew what had to be done. Losing the cloak was unfortunate but totally worth it. (As for the embroidery, I just plain forgot about it. Sorry!) My favorite part is the jacket. A really utilitarian looking number that says “Rance!” pretty clearly, even if we didn’t see him wearing it.
