OOC: Actually, characters typically age realtime. When Zebedee was first introduced, he was fourteen, and now he's in his twenties (Though still only like 17 physically, due to slowed aging). It was actually mentioned by him at one point that he needed to start shaving, all the way back on the Snitz. Ender was introduced at 16, and is now dieing of old age.
BIC: "October Twelfth? October Twelfth... I'll need to remember that one. It should stick in my head. Ten twelve, ten-twelve." Dace settled down slightly, still facing Laksha.
"I don't think you're cold or unfriendly or anything. I meant that you're calm and smart. You don't get all surprised or frightened like I do... When that Granbull attacked, you guys did really good against it. I just sucked..." Sensing how dark her conversation had become, Dace returned to the subject of birthdays.
"October Twelfth? That's a really good one. You aren't too far into school, then, so your parents can't use your report cards to decide how much they spend on presents..."
"My parents mathed the whole thing out. They can literally look at my report card and tell me exactly how much they can spend on a present. I guess it's kinda fair, since if I do really good, I can get a nicer present, but it's just... Eh, I can't really pay much attention in school. Especially Spelling and Math. They're both sooo boring," Dace gave a sigh of exasperation, and flopped against her pillow.

OOC: Really, birthdays..... Hm... AH I HAVE IT! ul23
BIC: The limb Durant and Taraek were on shook suddenly, causing Durant to sit upright. A mankey had landed on the branch and by the look it gave both Taraek and Durant it was particularly annoyed by their presence. Before either Durant or Taraek could react, the mankey jumped again, causing the limb to shake.
The shake, although not horribly violent, caused Taraek to fall off the branch he had been sitting on, leaving him to hold on to Durant to keep himself from falling the rest of the way down the tree. The mankey however, wasn't satisfied by this partial ejection of the invaders of it's territory, and delivered a swift kick to Durant, causing both him and Taraek to fall down to the ground below.

"They match your presents to your report card? Oh, no, I would hate that. I mean, I suppose it's only fair, but..." Laksha trailed off and looked down at her cell phone. "It's strange. My parents want me very much to do well in school -- I mean, my mother's a teacher. And my father was an engineer before he became a director of his company, so I think he expects me to be good with math and physics, too. But they've never really scaled their presents to my academic performance. They just buy me things; there's no bargain I have to strike with them. So I don't really know what message to take from--"
Laksha broke off as snapping branches and heavy thuds outside caught her attention. She unzipped the flap and looked out, to find that Durant and Taraek had fallen out of the tree after all. "Oh -- I -- are you all right?"

Durant picked himself back up. "Yeah, I guess we just chose a tree that was already occupied." He smiled broadly at her, while Taraek gazed furiously back at the spot where the mankey had attacked them.
"Ah well, maybe we'll just find another tree to climb. Although I hope that there's no more mankey waiting for us." Taraek then turned to face Durant, his angry expression showing just how much he wanted to go have another run in with a wild pokemon while sleeping.

"Just sleep in here!" Dace's grumpy, muffled voice came from inside the tent. As the others approached, she sighed, slamming her pillow down on the tarp that made the floor, and sat up.
"It's gonna be crowded, I know, I know. Durant, just put Taraek between you and us. If our parents ask, we don't need to lie. We'll say we had boys in the tent, and when they ask us, we'll just say Taraek and Ganesh," Dace spat out all of her directions like a miniature schoolmarm, clearly exasperated with having the flap to her tent left open on a cold and rainy night. She gave one last sigh, and then flopped back on her pillow again.
"There's nothing for you to sleep under, but it's better than the rain. Just get in here already," She flung her arm over her eyes, and pulled her sleeping bag over her shoulders again.

OOC: Oh man, I forgot it was my turn! Sorry. Um... Let me see what modicum of substance I can wring into this post.
Laksha knew there was no need to surprise her parents further by harboring boys in her tent, but she supposed Dace's plan was good enough. "I'm sorry you won't be sleeping in the trees," she murmured vaguely before rolling over to face the wall of the tent.
OOC: Looks like not much.

OOC: Blooood, oh Blooooood?
BIC: "Sleeping in the trees is a pretty neat idea, really, but on a night like tonight, all the Pokemon go into them to get out of the wet grass. You're lucky there wasn't another Granbull up there," Dace closed her eyes, and wrapped her sleeping bag more tightly around herself.
"Today was a good day, right?" She murmured peacefully, barely audible above the patter of raindrops on the tarp over their heads.

OOC: Well, we keep having problems cause people in class keep screwing around and mucking up the network, so I'm being slow in my RP posts. However one of the culprits has been caught, let's see if I lose it again now shall we?
BIC: Durant stepped into the tent, with Tarek right behind him. "Yeah, though with all the other pokemon around I don't think there would be any thing as vicious as that Granbull around." He walked over to the corner of the tent, and sat down. Taraek sat down nearby, between Durant and Laksha.
"Why do your parents care if I'm in the same tent anyway? I've always why some parents care so much about that."

"Eh, I guess parents just don't like boys being around girls. Don't really get it, but that's what I think, I guess," Dace sighed into her pillow.
"I guess most parents are kinda control freaks, though. I mean, though, you kinda have to be to have kids. You gotta keep them from doing anything bad or really messing up, and that takes a lot of work. Maybe only people who want to be bossy become parents? That'd kinda make sense."
Dace didn't hear much of a response from her friends. Laksha was silent except for quiet breathing, and Durant only managed to murmur a quiet response too vaguely for Dace to understand.
"What'd you say?" The question was in vain. Durant, obviously getting drowsy from the comparative warmth of the tent, repeated what he said earlier, only more distantly and quietly. Taraek gave a dismissive grunt. Dace decided to just let it drop. Maybe she'd ask him later, if she remembered. She was too tired to mess around with getting answers tonight, even if not knowing something bugged her to no end.
She closed her eyes, and ran through the day once more in her mind. This had been a really hard day with all of the walking with her heavy pack on her shoulders, but it had been really rewarding. She had actually gotten to know Laksha and Durant fairly well, which was a very good thing. She had all sorts of friends in school, but she never was really close to any of them. She'd go to their birthday parties and stuff, but she never really hung out with them outside of class and when she had to be in the same place as them, otherwise.
If she had been more concerned with philosophical fare, and less tired, she might have mused about how she mentally saw her class as a mass of people instead of as individuals. However, Dace never had been the type to think too deeply about her own thoughts, and she was very worn out.
Laksha and Durant were a lot cooler than her other friends. Maybe it was because they were older? Or maybe it was because they were also trainers. Nobody else in her class was really a trainer at this age. Some had Pokemon as pets, but most of the kids that decided to train had left school. They were somewhere out there, doing their schoolwork on their own in between gym battles and life in the wilderness.
Her parents had shot that idea down quickly. Even though ten was the minimum age to go training, they had said that she'd need to wait until at least highschool before she could really set out. She wasn't sure if they didn't trust her, or were just afraid that she'd get hurt, but it wasn't too bad. While she was home with them, they'd help her with raising Minnow and let her have some of their Pokemon supplies.
Her mother and father... The thought was comforting, even if they were bossy. She smiled to herself slightly.
"Good night, Laksha. 'Night, Durant," Dace said, barely raising her head before collapsing back to her pillow. As an afterthought, she muttered something else. "'night, Mom. 'night, Dad."
And with that, the young trainer slipped into a deep and dreamless slumber, lulled by the rhythm of rain on her tent. As she drifted away, her last conscious thought was, Hey, today wasn't a bad day at all.
Little did she know of the coming hardships... --------- Dace groaned as the sound of something moving around in the tent woke her. Sunlight played across her face, warming her and shining through her eyelids. She grunted, and rolled over, burying her face in her pillow again. Something compact and powerfully built pushed past her. Slightly baffled by waking up in a sleeping bag, she snapped back to reality.
She writhed to a sitting position, and then struggled to extricate her arms from her bedding. The girl fumbled with the zipper for a moment, and then took hold and ripped it down. She clawed free of her confinement, and then looked around her. Laksha and Durant were already up.
"Hey guys, I'm getting changed! Stay out!" Dace zipped the tent door tightly, and then dug into her pack, stationed by the corner. A few granola bars fell out. Clearly her breakfast.
After getting dressed, she tucked her pajamas and the sleeping bag away in her pack. Fortunately for her, the others had already picked up their blankets and pillows. That saved her a lot of trouble. She unzipped the tent door, and then stumbled into the sunlight, blinking.
She had switched to a tie-die shirt in a variety of blue and purple shades, and tan shorts with too many pockets. Dace wouldn't admit it to her friends, but her mother had prepicked this outfit for her so that she wouldn't end up looking like a knucklehead. The youth had never told anyone, but she was horrible at picking outfits.
"Hey, guys, have breakfast yet?" Dace turned up the lip of the tent, and then tugged on a nylon cord. A handle with a joint in the middle came out, slipping out of some hidden compartement.
"Hope you all got your stuff out of there..." She squeezed the handles together, the stakes instantly retracting. The tent collapsed upon itself, and then writhed wildly, shaking the dew from the grass. Dace stood back, watching as it folded itself into a tiny bundle, albeit somewhat less compact than before. Nothing ever went back together right when you camped out.
She took the tent, and tried to cram it into her backpack. It went halfway in, and then jammed up. She continued struggling with it while the group waited for her.
"Just a moment guys. This, and a check up on Minnow, and we're good to go."

Ganesh, to whom the only appealing aspect of a rainstorm was the mud left afterward, splashed happily into the puddles around their tent. He scooped up a chunk of mud with his trunk and lobbed it at Taraek playfully. Laksha observed them while in the involved process of combing her hair. She wasn't used to waking up outdoors and felt extremely self-conscious in this unwashed state, but she knew the Pokemon Center at their destination would contain trainer's facilities including showers. Now that she thought of it, Cerulean's Gym must have had them as well, for the benefit of trainers who went swimming there.
The thought of all those showers prompted Laksha to ask, "We'll be in the city fairly soon, yes?"
OOC: Now vote.

"Probably. I don't think we camped that far away from it." He then bent down next to Taraek and patted him on the head. "What do you think? Can you smell the city air?" Taraek raised his head and sniffed the air. He then began nodding, with a frown upon his face. "I guess that answers it. He seems to think so, and he's definitely not happy about it." Durant smiled, and patted his head again, then began stretching. When he was done, he grabbed his pack and sat down beneath a tree to wait for Laksha and Dace. OOC: A long wait and a short post, but it gets things moving. Sorry

"Figures, typical grass type," Dace said with a smirk. She had finished packing up her supplies, and now was gnawing on a granola bar as she walked along with the group.
"If we're close enough to smell it, we've gotta be really close. Really, really close. We just can't see it because Cerulean's up on a really big hill. In school, they said that it almost used to be a mountain like Mount Moon, but that was millions of years ago..." Dace smiled slightly, proud to recall the fact, and then took another chunk out of the bar.
"Mmf!" Dace quickly reached for her pocket, and drew a Pokeball. She pressed the button, still holding onto it as it opened. In a flash of azure, a small form appeared, balanced on end on the pathway. The light dispersed, revealing Minnow. The Burmy seemed to be fine except for a large scrape down the side of its head where it had slammed into the rock.
"I really shoulda left her out so that she could patch up her bag, but I was kinda worried we wouldn't have enough room," Dace took another chaw out of her breakfast, biting it off with her molars. She masticated in silence, pacing around her Pokemon with a careful eye.
"Sorry, Minnow," She finally said, accidentally spitting some of the grain as she spoke. The Burmy squeaked in acknowledgement, clearly nonplussed by the situation, but not quite angered.
"Tell ya what. I'll carry you all the way to Cerulean... Would that make it any better?" Dace negotiated. Minnow responded with mild interest, cocking its head ever so slightly. Dace knelt to pick it up, only to have it throw itself from her grasp.
"Minnow, what was THAT about?" Dace huffed, recovering her balance and then walking over to the Pokemon. Its beak's tip held a scrap of rubberized fabric, about the size of a dinner plate, with a black design on it.
"If you let me see it... Um... Well, I'll owe you one. Maybe I'll take you to the dump or something?" Dace gently pried the fabric from Minnow's beak, and stretch it out to read. The fabric, a dingy white, had a crisp black design painted on it. A trident shape with a pointed base pointed upwards from a word in a very formal looking script.
"Project- Project Apoll-on- Uh, I can't read this quite right. Could one of you guys get it for me?" Dace tossed the scrap in the air, figuring that one of her friends would catch it before it hit the ground.
"Probably just some fancy raincoat that got torn up," She shrugged, and then knelt to pick up her Burmy. Minnow squealed happily as Dace lifted her from the ground, quickly slumping back against her trainer. Now stumbling a wee bit from the extra weight, the girl continued along with the rest of the group. She thought she could see some kind of glimmer at the crest of the hill, but she couldn't quite be certain. It could just be the stress from lugging around the animated sack of potatoes she called a Pokemon.
OOC: For anybody who wants to know, it's "Project Apollonius".

Laksha caught the bit of fabric and examined it. "Apollonius..." she read aloud. Then she frowned and lowered her head. "Apalunya."
Catching the blank stares from her companions, she hastened to explain. "It sounds like 'Apalunya'. I remember that name from a Sanskrit text my mother had me read. She's a history teacher," Laksha added, "and she's always wanted me to know the old stories..."
She looked back at the fabric, and held it down for inquisitive Ganesh to sniff. "Apalunya was a Westerner who travelled in India to learn about Hinduism and Buddhism. If he was a Greek, then I suppose his name might have really been spelled Apollonius."
Laksha smiled. "I have no idea about the trident, though."
OOC: Well, I HAVE already established that Laksha's mother teaches history... and once I did the requisite Wikipedia search, I couldn't resist.

Durant stared at them, slightly puzzled.
"Well, that's great... But what would that make the project? A project to teach people about Buddhism and Hinduism?"
He smiled, though still unsure of what either the name, or the trident could mean.
"Think that anyone in Cerulean would know? Or maybe Dace's tutor?"
He then became quiet, and stared up into the sky, still smiling broadly.

"Who knows? Maybe it's like a student exchange thing or something, right? That would be really cool to do, you know?" Dace beamed, her bouncing strides jostling her recuperating Pokemon.
"I wouldn't mind going to school somewhere different, like maybe the US or France or sumthin'. I mean, it'd be fun to totally change like that. You know, poof, now you're in America and doing the school there."
"I wonder if they do anything different in those schools than here? I mean, they don't have any Pokemon, which must be a huge bummer, but they don't have anywhere near as many catastrophes as we do, so I guess it's only fair..." Dace pulled Minnow closer, holding her tightly.
"I just thought... If I went, I'd bring Minnow with me. And then I thought something else... Why haven't they ever like sent Pokemon to other countries for them to raise? There's that one gymleader guy down south that did that, but other than that..."
OOC: One round, and then, we reach Cerulean with my next post. And then the plot goes from Crawl to "Crawl like 'boom's Turtle tortoise"

Laksha thought about this. "Haven't other Pokemon appeared in other countries, though? I know there have been myths in some North American tribes about Xatu. They considered Xatu to be the spirit within a totem pole, given freedom..."
She racked her brains for more examples of Pokemon appearing outside the Archipelago, but her thoughts kept drifting back to the image of a Xatu standing tall in a forest clearing surrounded by thatched huts. "I think it would be wonderful to own a Xatu. They're so mysterious and grand..."
OOC: Well! Laksha's turning into quite the encyclopedia of old stories, isn't she? I like that angle, though, and it goes well with her character. Anyway, the Silver version's Pokedex entry actually posits that South American tribes revered Xatu, but since totem poles are much more a North American thing, I thought that sounded more accurate.

OOC: So much for "We're living in a pokemon world" huh?
BIC:
"I always wondered that. I remember my mom and dad going on about some fossils found in one of the Americas. Some Kabuto, and maybe an Aerodactyl. I don't really remember." He laughed, and continued smiling.
"I guess I should have paid more attention to her and dad when they were trying to teach me, huh? Well, I think that there are probably pokemon pretty much everywhere, we just don't know where they are."
He then moved in front of both Dace and Laksha, turned around, and started walking backwards with Taraek shaking his head disapprovingly at him.

"I wonder if-" Dace was cut off in her musings as she crested the hill. Before her, laid out like a vision from a dream, was the tableau of Cerulean city. White houses with slate-blue shingled roofs shone brightly in the clean morning light, almost seeming to glow. People bustled about, looking like ants from the distance, but all clearly clad in various vibrant colors. Trucks, cars, and bikes of too many varieties to count bustled through the city streets, like blood through the veins of an immeasurable titan. A large lighthouse, beacon off for the day time, loomed over the cape, a bone white sentinel. Most breathtaking, however, was the ocean. Glimmering like a million sapphires, it stretched to the horizon. It moved inwards, washing up on the beach in a singular motion before slipping back out again. A massive canal, carved into the land years ago by the motion of the water, rushed under the bridges connecting the cape and the main city. Dace stood still, shifting Minnow's weight to one arm, and shielding her eyes with the other. She couldn't contain her smile. "Durant, Laksha? You guys see that sign that says 'Welcome to Cerulean City', right?" Dace pointed out to a crisply painted white sign, posted at the bottom of the hill. "Last one to it is a rotten egg!" OOC: And now you know what was taking me.

"Oh heavens -- I'm not wearing sneakers!" Laksha gasped. Of course, her orange skirt was more responsible than her sandals for hindering her ability to run, but the sandals didn't help either. After only a few seconds of trying to run downhill, Laksha caught herself and gave it up.
Championing Laksha, on the other hand, was a Pokemon for whom racing was a way of life. Ganesh instantly rolled into his characteristic ball and sped down the grassy slope in a blur. With that much momentum, Laksha was afraid he would knock the signpost down. But when he reached the foot of the hill, Ganesh rolled straight past the sign, wheeled around, stood up, and bumped the signpost happily with his leathery trunk.
OOC: Can I just say, Phanpies weren't a really special breed of Pokemon to me before creating Ganesh -- they just seemed like the right species for Laksha -- but now they're basically my favorite Pokemon. I love writing Ganesh.

Durant stood at the top of the hill for a moment, watching them on their way down. Then, with a big grin, he got down on his knees and started somersaulting down the hill.
Taraek took a few steps back, then ran to the edge of the hill, and jumped using his vines. He reached the base of it just a bit before Durant did, and used his vines to catch him, before he could crash into the sign at the bottom.
"Thanks pal" said Durant as he began trying to stand back up, barely doing so from dizziness.

Dace had reached the signpost shortly after Taraek, having returned Minnow to its ball in order to run more efficiently. She collapsed against the sign, breathing heavily, and waited for Laksha to catch up to them. Still gasping for breath, she looked up with a smirk.
"Well, guys... It looks like... like Laksha is the rotten egg!" Dace stumbled to her feet again, pointing at the other girl with a chuckle. Deciding that it wasn't really very funny, Dace turned around and began walking.
"C'mon. I think we should go to th' center first, and after they patch everybody up, we could like... Hmmm... Maybe we could get a taxi or something north? I don't wanna spend the rest of the day walking around, since we got a job to do," Dace fiddled with the straps on her backpack as she drifted past the sign and into the city. They were still at the periphery, the suburbs. The majority of buildings around them were modest white one-story homes, each hemmed in by identical plot of well-mowed grass.
"From what I remember, the Pokemon Center is like a bit down and to the east. I guess it made it so that it was easier for trainers to get there that way, since it's closest to the three roads into town," Dace paused, looking around.
"They don't have any signs up here. I was hoping they'd have some of those 'This Way to the Pokemon Center' signs that they got around Saffron and Celadon," A small moving van silently rolled past the trio, continuing south. The girl watched it as it went by, and then turned back to the group with a wide grin.
"I hope they don't have anything glass in there! That road's so bumpy that most people won't drive it at all! If they've got that big ol' truck full of stuff, all it'll take is one bump, and SMASH!" Dace pounded her fist into her other hand emphatically. Surely enough, there was a tremendous rattle as the vehicle hit the cobblestones of the southern road.
"Let's get out of here! It's too noisy!" Dace said loudly, covering her ears as she lowered her head and began walking faster, her backpack bouncing with every step she took.

OOC: Can I also just say, I truly admire the way Lee has captured Dace's way of speaking. He's got the balance perfectly right between showing her to be bright and resourceful and to be still distinctly unrefined and unsophisticated. Right around reading "I guess it made it so that it was easier for...", I realized how much Lee has nailed Dace: a perceptive observation, constructed in a really kiddish and awkward way. Oh, and now I have to post in-character.
Laksha, last to stop at the foot of the hill, watched the van clatter its way down the dirt road. "My father said the soil gets worse and worse the farther east you move on this continent," she said. "Do you two remember Lavender? There were scarcely any vehicles there at all. Then again, it is a much smaller town than here."
She thought about mentioning how it was much the same back home in Blackthorn, but decided that that wouldn't be much of a surprise, considering the city was up in the mountains. Instead she added, "I've only ever seen farmland once, on a trip to Olivine in the west. I just don't think there's very much opportunity for it here. All the produce in Saffron was very expensive." Laksha smiled. "That's what my mother said. She said we'd bring groceries from Johto next time we came here."
Ganesh came up and nuzzled her idly; she took the opportunity to examine his condition. He looked in fine health -- unlike poor Minnow, he had sustained no injuries in the battle with the wild Granbull -- but she thought he could do with a refresher at the Pokemon Center all the same.
OOC: Just as Bulbs had his revelation that he can just have Sly morph or demorph whenever he has no particularly strong inclinations for what to do with an RP post, I've realized that I can just have Laksha talk about some aspect of the Pokemon universe that no one would ever stop to seriously consider.

"That's not entirely true. Pokemon worked together in some places to make them more habitable, part of that is improving the soil in the areas. That's what they did for my Aunt Julie. She has this amazing garden, and she lives just a little bit away from Lavender-"
He stopped, looking down at Taraek who was tapping the great ball with one of his vines.
"Oh! That's a good idea, we should tell Aunt Julie about the Granbull when we get to the pokemon center. I bet she'll know what to do with it."

"I think the dirt around Saffron's okay. But we go to Celadon to buy our fruits and veggies from the girls that run the gym, so maybe they've got better, huh?" Dace tilted her head, her smile fading slightly. Dirt didn't really interest her unless she was playing around in it, even if it was important.
"Sure! Since she's kinda from around Houen like you are, I guess that she'd know all about that kind of stuff, right?"
"Hey, guys, I see one of those bus-stop shelter things. I'm going to check where the Pokemon center is," Dace ducked aside, and into the kiosk. She put her hands on her hips, and leaned back. The sign was faded from the sun, with small cracks running from the screws in each corner. The girl leaned forwards, and put her finger to the scratched plastic.
"Here we are... The center's..." She started to trace a path with her finger, thought the better of it, and used her other hand to point at the red dot. She stared at it for a while, thinking, and then left the kiosk, falling into stride beside the other two.
"It's on the street after this next one. You guys should get together all the Pokemon that need healing," Dace held up Minnow's Pokeball.
"If we only heal the ones that need to be, we can get out of there quicker. Since we could just put the six most tired on one of their machines, and be right out after that... So, Minnow is still beat up, and Oddish is, too. Taraek and Ganesh both have been running 'round a lot, so maybe them, too?"
"Am I forgetting anybody who'd need healing?"
OOC: Okay, next post, we can take care of the center stuff. If one of you wants us to arrive, you can handle it. If not, well, just hand your mons over. I think that Durant needs to make a call first thing once we're in.

After a short walk to the next street, the group arrived at the pokemon center.
"Taraek and I are going to go call my Aunt Julie, she should know what to do about the Granbull." said Durant. Then he and Taraek went over to the phones at the far end of the center.
"Hello this is Julie Larks, who's this?"
"Hi Aunt Julie, it's me."
"Me? Who's this Me. I don't know any Me. Goodbye."
"Aunt Julie! Don't do that! It's, me! Durant!"
Julie's laughter rang out loudly over the phone. "Of course it is! Who else calls me Aunt Julie? Now how are you and Taraek? I haven't heard from you two since you left."
"We're both fine. We're at a Pokemon center in Cerulean City."
"Good. Your dad called last night wanting to talk to you they apparently found something in Fallarbor."
"Really?" His voice became excited. "What wa-"
"I don't know. When have I ever listened to him?"
"Ok... Anyway I wanted to ask you something Aunt Julie. We found this Granbull on the way to Cerulean that's a lot like the Shadow Pokemon back in Orre, -"
"A Shadow Pokemon?!" her voice filled with sudden fear " What happened to it?"
"I caught it, it had a baby Snubbull with it too, but Dace caught that one. We don't know what to do with them though."
"I don't know.... I might be able to get a hold of your parents."
"Ask them to tell Profressor Krane about it, he handled the research regarding shadow pokemon in Orre."
"Alright. I don't know when I'll get through to them, you know how they are. I want to hear from you every night though, especially if there are Shadow pokemon roaming around Kanto. Your mother will never forgive me if something happens to you."
"Allright Aunt Julie. I'll try."
"Alright then. If that's all then I best be going, it sounds like Stan just crashed into something again."
"Allright. I love you Aunt Julie."
"I love you too Durant, be careful."
"I will, bye."
A clicking sound came from the other end of the phone, telling Durant that his aunt had just hung up. He sighed and walked over to the waiting area and sat down, taking out the great ball containing the Granbull and stared at it once more.

Drying her hair fastidiously, Laksha emerged from the trainer's wing of the Pokemon Center, where she had eagerly taken the shower she'd been waiting for. Matsya was springing along beside her; the Remoraid never missed an opportunity to refill her store of water. Sankh, of course, she hadn't even considered releasing inside the shower stall, and Ganesh was still getting his assorted scrapes and bruises attended to by the nurses.
Laksha adjusted her orange skirt uncomfortably. She wasn't used to wearing the same clothes two days in a row any more than she was used to showering this late in the morning. It would be a long time before any of this felt easy.
But what else could she do? A proper wayfaring Pokemon trainer couldn't return home every night to sleep in her own warm bed, could she?
Ah, there was Durant, sitting by the phones outside the entrance to the trainer's wing. Laksha waved and sat beside him, and Matsya dutifully stood sentinel by her feet, taking in every detail of the lobby through her wide glassy eyes.
Durant was staring at a Great Ball -- the one that contained the Granbull, she supposed. "Does it worry you that you might not be able to control her?" she asked. "I mean, Taraek is strong, no doubt, but this Granbull seems... above any of us at the moment."
She ran her hands through her hair.
