I still think it's really good, but her eyes are a bit... big.

Is she an RP character or just a random chick? Either way, I like her. Not too fond of the pointy chin, but manga style is manga style I guess, and I like her overall posture too much to complain.

I'll second that. Very, VERY cute, and awesome style. I think the shading makes her chin appear more pointy than it really is, thus Photu's issue with it.
I'd really have to say the best part would have to be the cloth, though. You've got a knack for doing really sharp and gorgeous textures and making the textiles look very realistic, and you mix them in really interesting ways. It leads to a very eye-catching look, and helps accentuate the dramatic poses that you do so well.
Great to see ya drawin' again, man.

It never occurs to me to envision RP characters with anime hair... I've got to say, for someone whose whole motif is water, that hair looks a hell of a lot like an open flame!
But I guess it's subversive, and in any case, love the shoes. Nineteen times out of twenty I skimp out on the shoes of my characters so it's nice seeing them rendered with such detail and form. And the expression is one of your best so far. Though I have to wonder why, between this, your last, and Rie, you have a habit of drawing horizontal wrinkles stretching out right smack-dab over your characters' boobs? I'm a wrinkle amateur but I don't think that's how the curvature of the female body works!

Rie shapeshifts her nipples into a snake just in case.

A new year, a new milestone, a new art thread. Here is my most recent picture of Aquara: And here is a drawing I did previously of her, side shot that Lee fell in love with. As always please give me a rate and a comment. It would be greatly appreciated. Also, as a bit of an incentive, if you comment or rate, you are given 1 free pass at me to post in any existing RP. If you rate a lot, or give a ton of detailed information, then I will hash out a new RP with you, and stick with it until the end. Until I have more drawings, ciao.

The arm on the first one shouldn't be foreshortened like that. She's also got serious problems with her right leg. That foot is bending really painfully. The left leg looks oddly placed for that matter too. It looks like it's not attached to her hip very well. The palm also shouldn't be so square at the bottom.
The profile drawing is fine except I don't think the index finger extends that far down.
Since I don't think we're in any RPs together, could you just give me a couple critiques on my work instead?

I did reference this picture for it: Over all I thought it looked fine, but thanks for the feedback, I'll make sure to take some of your tips for further sketches.

First off, I have to say, are you absolutely sure you need a new thread for every year? Seems to me that this topic and both of your previous two could all nestle quite comfortably together into one thread. If it's really important to you that they stay separate, fair enough, but otherwise, I'd be happy to merge them. Anyway, the latest Aquara illustration continues to cement your status as the best on the Exodus at depicting figures in dynamic motion. The folds of fabric around the torso are some of your finest yet, and I like the forward-sweeping hairstyle much better than the last Aquara pic I remember -- that one looked quite inappropriately like a candle's flame, whereas this one has the shape of a wave. Fits her water theme much better. (Though I think you should play up the signature tassels a little more, to keep the hair out of the realm oF "Generic Anime Haircut"). Speaking of generic anime stuff, the face is a distinct step down from her previous outing... Well, okay, in retrospect, maybe the winking face on her previous portrait was a little too coy and mischievous, given that her personality is fairly stoic... But this expression is just a bit bland. Come to think of it, I think "The Nipple Picture" actually had your best Aquara facial expression yet, even though we could only see part of one eye. But it was a vivid, intense gaze, more becoming Aquara than playful winks and more... specific than this facial expression. I also dislike generic anime chins and eyes but if that's your style then that's your style. However, the pointy bosom and angular left hand don't make much sense in any style. Also on the level of minor nitpicks which Loogs hasn't covered, I'm not really... sure what's going on with her outfit. Specifically, what's the deal with those two folds of fabric at her left hip? They don't really seem to have anything to do with the rest of the outfit. (And the hole there isn't three-dimensional, whereas all the other holes -- at her forearms and calves -- are. Just a goof?) The profile shot is quite good although I'm not sure exactly what's going on with her eye. Is the pupil the white part, meaning she's looking directly at the viewer? Because if the whole rest of her eye is dark then that's kinda creepy-looking. On the other hand, she might be looking directly ahead of her (so the pupil is dark and the white is... white, the way it should be), but then there's that little extra smidgen of color at the corner of her eye so that kinda confuses me. (Self-consciousness reveals itself.) Also, the thumb looks like the edge of a blade. It should be slightly less stiff and sharp. But I really do like them both. Okay. Now. POST IN WHISPER
If you don't post there within the month, I will never comment upon your artwork again. (Unless, like, I judge a future art contest and you enter, of course.) A deal is a deal.

You're review made me laugh!
Thanks very much for the review I'll keep working on it. Maybe I'll do a revisioned drawing of the same pose and see if I can incorporate all of the speculations that you and loogs have made.
Also, you CAN merge the topics if you would like, I really wouldn't mind.
