OOC: HOLY CRAP! I MADE A LONG POST! yay ;D
A huge majestic ship entered the region of Hoenn, a different continent that people from Kanto just recently heard of. The ship bellowed its horn, letting the crew members of the harbor to prepare for its arrival. Back in the rooms a young woman was boarded, prepping herself for a huge tournament that was to take place in the city she just arrived in. "Its strange..." Karin said to the attendant helping her with her bags, "We keep finding different countries, and it took us hundreds of years to figure out that they actually existed. I thought Kanto, my homeland, was the only thing that existed, then we discovered Johto, and now Hoenn! What are we to discover next? A genetically altered Pokémong set on world domination?" Karin chuckled. "Well that doesn't matter," she adjusted the glasses on her head and tightened the ponytail she just threw up, confidence in her voice "Just gives me more competition." The attendant smiled, admiring her dedication to success, "Yes Ma'am, I suppose it does," offering a helping hand "Would you like some assistance?" he asked. "No thank-you. I got this," Karin grabbed her suitcase firmly and left the room that she resided. She stepped out on the deck of the ship and her jaw dropped to the amount of competitors that seemed to have entered the tournament. The attendant spoke up behind her "Hoenn is a very famous placed since the other continents decided to come here. We can all co-exist with pokémon, as well as, compete for the title of champion," he paused giving a delicate smile, "Pokémon, they are wonderful creatures. They not only serve as friends, but they bring people together."
Karin smiled "Thank you, sir." She walked down the plank of the ship budging through large crowds of people. Finally, five minutes down a 20 foot plank, she managed to reach solid ground. "Thank heavens" she gasped dropping her suit case, "It was a battle just to get down here. Hmmm...," glancing around. "Exactly, where am I?" Shrugging her shoulders she headed for the nearest Pokémon Center, luckily there was one right off of the ship. "Excellent," she said thankfully. She arrived to the doors, and noticed they were completely automatic sliding glass. "Sure is fancy for a free service area," stepping in she noticed that the Hoenn region had very advance centers. Karin made her way through the thicket of people to the service desk. Upon arriving she placed her pokébelt on the counter and looked up at the service desk, her jaw dropped. "Thank you for stopping by your local Pokémon center, My name is Jenny. How can I help you today?" Jenny smiled, "Something wrong Miss?" "Uh... I--hmm..." Karin said baffled "You look just like--" "Oh you mean my cousin? Yes, we all seem to have a striking resemblance to each other," Jenny said in a cheery voice.
"Ye-yes you do.." Karin pushed her belt forward "I would like them revitalized, they had a long trip." "Oh," Jenny responded sympathetically "Lets get these guys all back in to shape." Jenny took Karin's companions for not more than five minutes and returned, the pokéballs polished an everything. "There you go, Sweetie, was there anything else I can help you with?" "No, Thank you so much" Karin said thankfully, "Have a great day!" Karin turned around, and reattached her belt, and headed outside. "I wonder if anyone else is here for the tournament..." she said to herself. She pulled out a folded piece of paper that was in her pocket, and unfolded it.

OOC - Single elimination? And how many people are you hoping for?

|
|
Post by Albatross Trevelyan on Sept 15, 2008 18:49:12 GMT -5
OOC: There will be three pokemon allowed to be picked. You get two chances, if you lose the first time, you will go against the losers, if you lose a second time then your eliminated... but this is also going to have a story considering that it is supposed to be a fake tournament. I was hoping for AT LEAST four people.

OOC - Ah, double elimination with four people... You know, that's probably smarter than single elimination with eight. Four reliably active people are much easier to find. I may have to make up a couple more Pokemon for Laksha in order to enter her, but expect me to.

OOC: That and if you have active people, then it will give them a little more action in the RP... also allows them to redeem themselves if need be, and gives them more diversment in who they battle... so in one topic they get to fight two people. No matter what.

OOC: Gotta go with my Houen native, just to be a knucklehead. BIC: "I, for one, won't be using the free hotel. My family had a vacation cottage at the fringe of the city, so I think I'll just stay in there." A voice, strong yet subtle, like a flowing river, spoke from behind Karin. "Besides, I think that my party would like that. They've been having a rough time for a long while." The speaker produced a heavy looking metal pen from the pocket of her bluish leather jacket, and began writing her information down on a similar form. "Name: Thyra Russell Party: Steelix (Male)(Name: Feldspar)(HP Psychic), Ursaring (Male)(Name: None)(HP: Dragon), Weepinbell (Female)(Name: Triffid)(HP Fire)" She folded the application neatly, wrote her mobile number and an address on the back of it, and slipped it into the nearest mailbox. She then turned to face Karin. "Sorry about being so blunt earlier... I suppose it just bugs me a little bit to see the worse assumed of people. A lot of the time, they're a lot better than you could even begin to expect." She lowered her sunglasses, revealing ernest brown eyes. "The name is Thyra Russell, co-head of the group to rebuild Slateport. Whoever you may be, I'm pleased to meet you."

"O-oh, My name is Karin!" Karin smiled. "I will be entering the tournament, and obviously you will be as well! I'm glad." She adjusted her glasses on her head, and fidgeted around a little bit with them.
"It seems though, that the tournament will be starting shortly." Hinting at the large flashing board to the large Colosseum just built in Mossdeep. "If I am reading correctly, they are going to be starting with in a few hours. Care to join me on a walk to the Colosseum?" Karin asked politely.

"Hopefully we don't have to fight eachother first... That would be a downer. Though seeing eachother in the finals would be lovely." Thyra turned, looking out over the ocean. The view wasn't great from where they were, but glimpses of its muted blues and sparkling sheen could be seen through the trees.
"I wouldn't mind a walk at all. I've been a bit cooped up, recently, to be honest with you. A bit of excercise to clear my mind and refresh my body would be just what the doctor ordered."

OOC: I swear... I really need to go and beat up people I'm waiting on in RPs, because the irony is almost painful. And yeah, we could use some DJK, some Elliot, some DL, and so on and so forth. We have experienced trainers to fill out at least five entries total, so why can't we fill four? Why so hesitant?

OOC: Hm... I had originally decided not to enter because I already have Max in the other tournament and Hoenn's kinda "out of the way" for him, but...
BIC: Somewhere in Goldenrod City, a tall, brown-haired man smiled darkly as he read a flier. "A tournament in Mossdeep City? Expenses paid, even a hotel? Interesting." The man was not usually the type to enter tournaments, but for some reason, this one in particular caught his interest. The "expenses paid" part, in particular; he knew that the Pokemon League had stopped providing such amenities for the participants in its tournaments. Therefore, someone else had to be sponsoring this tournament.
However, there would be time enough for that kind of research during the tournament. The man closed his eyes and focused his mind, calling to his consciousness an image of the city where the tournament was being held. A fraction of a second later, he vanished, reappearing moments later outside of the city, not too far from the arena where the tournament would be.
In a way, it was lucky that the tournament was here; in Kanto, and even some parts of Johto, the man had to be careful to avoid being seen. The authorities were on the lookout for him, though they had yet to actually find him. Out here, he could show his face and would be unlikely to be recognized. Of course, he couldn't afford to take too many risks. The man cleared his mind, strode the short distance into the city, and entered the arena building.
As he reached the counter, a receptionist smiled. "Good afternoon, sir. Do you wish to enter the tournament?" The trainer cleared his throat, and nodded. "Very good, sir. Here is your entry form." The receptionist handed him a clipboard. The entry form was clipped onto the clipboard, which also had a pen attached. The man sat down in a nearby chair, and began to fill out the required information.
"Name: Reisk Nosi Party: Metagross (N/A, Clear Body, HP Water) Hypno (M, Insomnia, HP Bug) Medicham (M, Pure Power, HP Flying) Xatu (F, Synchronize, HP Fighting) Starmie (N/A, Natural Cure, HP Fire) Jynx (F, Oblivious, HP Ground) Do you want a hotel room during the tournament? Yes"
Now that the form was complete, he returned to the registration desk and handed the form and clipboard back to the receptionist. "Thank you, Mr. Nosi. Please sit down, and we will contact the hotel to arrange your accomodations."

Karin jogged ahead looking for the contest hall, she tripped over a sign and feel on her face. "OW!" she said rubbing the bridge of her nose, "what was that sign now... C-contes-t hall," with an arrow pointing directly into a door. "Huh, who would've thought that we're here already!" Karin smiled, "Lets go register Thyra, the building was closer than I thought!"
Karin entered the giant building which seemed to be where most of the contest would be held. She leisurly walked up to the desk and procured a clipboard and began to register her and her pokemon.
Name: Karin Gender: Female Age: 26 Height: 5'9" Weight: 120 Party:

Karin signed the bottom of the clipboard and checked yes for a room for the night. Karin gave the registration to the receptionist, and sat back down waiting for Thyra. Karin kicked back and crossed her legs, and folded her arms behind her head, "Tomorrow is when I can show people my ability as a trainer..." smiling, she patiently waited for Thyra.

"Oh. It seems it IS closer than I remember it being. Kind of odd, really, but it makes sense. I was younger, with shorter legs, when I last was here." She followed her new friend into the building, and approached the desk.
"Good afternoon, miss."
"Likewise to you. How my I help you?"
"If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, could you just write down a note for me that I only have three Pokemon?"
"Are you sure you want to enter the tournament in a state like that?" The woman asked, popping the cap off of a pen.
"I'm certain. These three are all I need." Thyra smiled slightly, nodding to the woman. She tapped her knuckles on the countertop.
"Then we'll put that on your application. Name?"
"Thyra Russell, of Slateport."
"Anything else?"
"No held items either. I want to try to face the harshest conditions available."
"If that's your choice, we can't stop you."
"I thought so. Well, anyways, thank you for your help. I must be going."
"Take care! We'll see you tomorrow!"
"Indeed. You should look forwards to it, since I don't plan on losing." Thyra smirked slightly, an uncharacteristic look, but it really did feel good to be back into this again. The thrill of competition had been far away for too many months, merely a dull pang of hunger at the fringe of her heart.
Her Ursaring was a gift from her father, her Weepinbell from her mother, and her Steelix had been caught as her first Pokemon almost four years ago. She had been an avid trainer for quite a while, but business had drowned her in concerns. Contract this, demolish that, memorialize this... She did a good thing for people, heading the rebuilding of Slateport, but it was empty work when it came down to it. It was all paper and ink, stamps and envelopes, text and numbers. At heart, she knew it wasn't for her, but it was her life.
Battle, though, yes battle! That was when she was alive. Close to her father, her mother, Zebedee, all of those people that had taught her so much over the years... It was like lightning in her veins, a fire in her soul. All of her nerves tuned to the changes in conditions, every neuron in her head straining, striving for the best option... That was what she craved. And she was going to get it tomorrow.
"Hey, Karin. I'm ready." Thyra smiled slightly, lips closed, as she reached the girl. "So, what are you planning on doing now?"

"Well," Karin said smiling, "We could get some practice in before the big day tomorrow..." She pulled out a map that she blatantly forgot about earlier, "Let see..." She said rubbing her fingers around all the points on the map, "It seems that there is a gym leader close to here, I think that fighting her should get us a good practice session dontcha think?"
Karin stood up from the waiting chars and adjusted her pokebelt, "I'm itching for a fight... but that may spoil some of the competition tomorrow, hmmm... I don't know what to do."

"Not just leader. Leaders." Thyra corrected. "It's the stomping grounds of Tate and Liza, the twin terrors. I've fought them before, but it was before the Crimson Grave incident..." Thyra paused, chewing on her lip for a moment.
"I was one of the trainers involved there. A pair of feral Shadow Pokemon killed a third of my party, both my Piloswine and my Farfetch'd, when I left them to guard my home. It took five trainers, myself included, to subdue them." She smiled nostalgically, an incongruous gesture with the macabre news.
"So really, I don't know how I'll stack up against them now. Piloswine carried a huge ammount of the burden that battle. Now, it's just Weepinbell, out of the ones I fought them with..."
"Mayhaps we could challenge them to a one Pokemon each double battle?" Thyra's smile became genuine. "That way, we're even on what we see of eachother's tactics, and I don't have to face that empty spot in my party."

Thyra, and Karin arrived at the Mosdeep gym after a short walk north. Two huge pillars stood at the gate, giving entrance to the gym, which held two of the strongest trainers in Mosdeep city. Karin gently turned the knob at the front door, timidly walked in.
The inside of the Mosdeep Gym was dimly lighted, and there were moving floor panels that lead all the way to the two gym leaders themselves. From a distance, however, the Gym Leaders just looked like innocent twins, laughing and talking about their pokemon. Both Tate, and Liz sat a chair, awaiting any challengers, as there fellow gym members diligently training.
"Excuse me," a male medium said to Karin, as she looked around the room blankly.
"Were here to battle Tate, and Liz..." Karin said absent Mindy, as this is the first Gym she has actually been in.
"Oh ho ho ho, you think you can win that easily" The medium boasted, "Well, right this way, we'll lead you straight to them!"
Thyra, and Karin followed the medium obediently, traveling through a maze of panels, which made Karin's eyes spin. After a few trial and errors, the team finally made it to the Gym Leaders, which were shrouded in mystery.
"I see.." Tate said, "You came to fight us," Liz finished.
"Very," Tate proclaimed, "Well then," Liz ended.
"Weird," Karin stated, confused by the twins, "My name is Karin, and this is Thyra, we're here warming up, if you don't mind."
"By all means," Liz said smiling, "Lets begin," Tate said.
Liz lifted her hand, and a pokeball flew into her grasp, "I think that I will lead with, "Lunatone," Tate cutting Liz off, using the same procedure, "And I SolRock..."
"Well then, in that case," Karin said touching her pokeballs on her belt lightly, "I choose you, Teddiursa!" She clicked one of the small pokeballs, and it grew in side when she clicked the middle circular button.
Karin threw her pokeball in the air, and out came her beloved Teddiursa, its small jar of Honey in hand. It dipped its paw into the jar, and then proceeded to stick its teddy bear like paw into its eager mouth, "Urs?" it said cocking its adorable head to the side. "AWEEE!," Karin squealed, "So cuuuttteee!"

"Choices, choices, choices," Thyra mused, carefully palming two Pokéballs. If I use Triffid, we get better type coverage, but Ursaring might have better teamwork with Karin's Pokemon...
"We already know-" Tate started.
"The one you'll be" Liza seemingly interupted, though Tate's mouth snapped shut at the same moment their twin spoke.
"Using." They concluded in unison.
"Try to unnerve me if you will, but I've only gotten stronger since the last time we fought! Triffid, get ready!" Thyra tossed the sphere into the arena with an underhanded lob, its impact on the floor barely audible over the humming noise emanating from the hovering adversaries. There was a distinctive whoosh as her champion appeared, displacing the air around it.
A sickly yellow creature with dull eyes stared across the arena, a cavernous jawlike structure slowly gaping open and closed. Two large leaves, arrayed like wings on its sides, fluttered ever so slightly. If not for being indoors, the motion could be easily mistaken for the breeze's play.
"We remember-"
"This one."
"In fact-"
"It went down-"
"With only one hit."
"That means nothing! Triffid and I have been through more than you'd ever know since that day!"
"If you wish-"
"To delude yourself-"
"We'll have to correct you."
"We'll see! Karin, follow my lead! Triffid, Acid!" Thyra responded, her voice barely below a shout. Her Pokemon responded instantly, its murky gaze giving way to eyes betraying a predatorial intelligence as a set of protective eyelids slid back. The creature tensed its body, slamming its leaves into the floor to elevate itself like a makeshift tripod. Its mouth clamped shut, its body trembling. A clear sap began oozing from the corners of its jaws, hitting the floor in small drips. Puffs of smoke rising from where its sap had touched, Weepinbell finished lining up her attack.
Opening wide, the carnivorous plant unleashed a torrent of acid. Though appearing almost like water at first, the spray of digestive juices became clearly threatening the moment it touched anything. Sizzling like a pan of bacon, the droplets rained down over the battling area, eating holes in whatever they touched. Both of the celestial Pokemon moved clear of the attack, leaving it to crash down uselessly on the floor.
"And while they're distracted protecting their defenses..." Thyra muttered as aside to Karin.

Karin nodded, "Teddiursa! Use shadow claw on Solrock!"
Teddiursa stood up, brining both of its teddy bear like claws up, and sliced at the air in a cross like pattern. Two apparent claws made of the darkest shadows screameda cross the battle grounds tearing the ground apart in the path the took. It hit solrock clear in the face slamming the pokemon backwards into the wall.
"YES!" Karin yelled her Teddiursa doing a fantastic job with the attack.
Tate shot an evil glare at the Teddiursa, Liz following soon after, "Solrock, Lunatone, PSYCHIC!" they both screamed as the pokemon began to glow an ominous purple color.
