OOC: Well, looking at how long it's taking either we need to get up front and ask someone, or just NPC the last slot. If I see Lone on I'll talk to him about it again

"Well, I think I'm in. Whatcha say, Sneasel?" Yoshimitsu said, walking into town. He had just recently seen a flier, sent to him via a text message on his mobile phone, and he decided that this would be the perfect chance to let his less-used pokemon shine. "They better let us in, since I'm sure I heard that Max was interested. I mean, me and Max had the same rank in that tournament ages ago. We damn well near beat Gary!"
Sneasel gave a non-commital shrug. Yoshimitsu grinned. "'Course, you've always been jealous of his Sneasel, haven't you?" Yoshimitsu said. "Alright, let's go register."

"Wow..." Dace muttered, examining the proceedings. She had actually heard tales about the skill of some of the trainers that were appearing. In fact, she had seen Max, Aiden, Sly, and Yoshimitsu all on PKMN-BN before, although some had been less advertised in matches than others. She'd need to look out for them, while keeping an eye out for the rookies as well. A voice snapped her from her daydreams.
"We have the number of entrants required for the first round. All of you, please line up and prepare for the tournament proper to begin. First of all, though, the Silph Co. tournament breakdown! We presently have two entrants of each of the following types; Fire, Grass, Ground, Ice, and Poison, and one each of the following types; Dark, Bug, and Flying. This has been you Silph Co. tournament breakdown!" The woman paused, tapped a key on her computer, and then continued speaking.
"The first round's matches are as follows: Durant Larks and his Bulbasaur versus Dace Balao and her Burmy! They will battle on zone A. Aiden Cross and his Chimchar will battle with Nolan Feld and his Torkoal in zone B! Laksha Kartt-" The woman paused, stumbling on the name. "Kartikya and her Phanpy will face (OOC: Calling my randomized roll... BB!) Max Milen and his Delibird! (OOC: I was wrong. -_-) They'll be facing off in Zone C. And of course, finally, Yoshimitsu and Salon Yardic will be fighting, Sneasel against Bulbasaur, in Zone D! That is all. Please proceed to your zones, and begin battling."
Dace nodded affirmatively, looking over her shoulder at her competition. She had a bug, which should beat grass, but he had poison, which beat bug, which was beaten by her ground, which was beaten by his grass... Dace stopped, biting her lip nervously. This was VERY confusing. She continued musing, quickly turning towards Durant to shoot him a confident smirk. She'd at least try to get HIM off his mental game, even if she had little ammunition herself. She had been hoping for either Delibird or Phanpy in the first round... Right now, she was in a vulnerable position.

Laksha smiled faintly after Max Milen. She was somewhat cheered by his words, but she felt a little embarrassed standing alone in Zone C as the spectators filed off the stands. Unsure whether she would be permitted to follow Max to the room where the trainers would await their next match (and, perhaps, unwilling to risk being humiliated further by getting turned out), she instead exited through the hallway on the other side, which led back to the now-crowded main lobby.
Here, she was taken aback for a moment to see that four large screens which lined the periwinkle walls, and which during their arrival and registration had been innocuously blank, were now bright. The one nearest to the door she had come through was showing a replay of key moments from her match with Max Milen, while the other three screens were displaying the other matches -- all of which, it seemed, were still in progress.
Laksha had barely had time to register any shame at being the first one to lose her match when she noticed some of the viewers nudging their friends and gesturing toward her. To her astonishment, in another moment the lobby was full of applause.
"Great job, miss!"
"That's some Phanpy..."
"Was this really your first tournament battle? Against Max Milen?"
Feeling her face turn red, Laksha consented to let Ganesh out of his Pokeball at a little boy's request. As the blue-gray elephant (who had already visibly recovered quite a bit) basked shamelessly in the attention, Laksha set to observing the other matches.
On the screen nearest the doorway marked "Zone A", a Bulbasaur had just grounded himself with vines to weather a lightning attack from... a Burmy. Laksha, nonplussed, made a note to figure out what Electric attack a Burmy was even capable of learning. On the Zone B screen, a single overhead camera displayed an arena mostly filled with smoke, where a barely-visible Torkoal had just unleashed some fiery blast on a Chimchar. And Zone D's cameras were being nicked and pitted by a Hail storm conjured by a Sneasel, who was fighting another Bulbasaur in an arena as snowy as hers and Max Milen's had become.
Ganesh gave a little trumpet of content as a small horde of children patted his hide, but Laksha smiled back at them only briefly before returning her gaze to the screens. These were very intriguing battles.
OOC - I hope Lee doesn't mind the liberties I took with the lobby. I thought it'd be nice for the losers to have somewhere to gather and reflect.

OOC: You see, the main reason that Lavender stadium is so important is it's built with "Plotcatecture", making rooms appear as needed for the writers. In other words, I just though "Stands, Reception Area with a snack bar, 10 Zone arena, and whatever else works."

OOC: Present winners are Elliot and DJKates. If DL doesn't post soon, we'll be forced to give the match to Kaz to keep things moving, Ithinks. Blood and I will finish this weekend, bar catastrophe.
If DL doesn't post in time, what should be his method of forfeit? Suggestions?

"I guess there's no glory when you lose against a newbie." Dace muttered, slumped in a chair in the waiting area with her feet dangling. Her eyes were red and tear marks were still on her cheeks, although she had stopped crying. Her Burmy's Pokeball wasn't with her right now, Minnow still requiring treatment. The arena nurse had said that her special attack was very taxxing for Minnow, and that it made healing her trickier.
"Oyyyyy..." Dace threw her head back, hitting the wall with a loud clunk. She instantly tumbled out of her seat, her hands going to her skull and massaging where she had hammered. It didn't hurt too bad, really. She rubbed her scalp for another few moments tentatively, and then stood up. She looked around the room, and saw that Laksha had a moment away from the crowd.
"Hey, you!" Dace wandered over to her, rubbing at the marks on her cheeks. This girl had just gone through the same sort of thing, losing a fight. Granted, she had been against a champion, but then again, she probably had been training a while longer than Dace had.
"How're ya doing?" Dace asked, a weak smile on her face. "I got my butt kicked all over the place by that Bulbasaur." Her smile grew slightly, and she punched at air. "Still, I gave him a fight!"
OOC: Gah, writing Dace is hard but interesting. I want to write her as a smarter than average but still emotionally fragile kid, which is very tricky to do just right with somebody half your age.

"Oh... Hi, Dace. Yes, your match was fantastic. I've been watching," Laksha added, gesturing toward Zone A's screen (which was now also showing replays, as was Zone D's). She realized that she might be implying something about how soon her match had ended and so moved on quickly. "You have a remarkable Burmy. I guess I never thought of them as being that versatile, but yours has so many tricks!"
Ganesh, still soaking up the attention a few feet away, noticed Dace's arrival and trotted up to meet her. He sniffed at her for a moment, then bumped his trunk against her gently.
"Ah! -- He likes you," Laksha said, smiling. "If he doesn't like you, he bumps harder."

"Eh, my dad brought it home after Silph Corp did some testing with it. That's where it got that one special move from." Dace said noncommitally, trying to sniffle back her runny nose discretely. She looked over to the screens, watching the last fight rage and the replays of their matches. For some reason, the screen that should have shown a Sneasel and a Bulbasaur battling had gone into standby mode. Maybe something had broken the camera?
"I did okay, I guess, but you did really well. Against a guy that tough with an advantage against you? You almost pulled it off, too!" Dace's pained smile became a bit more simple and honest, watching the screen that showed Laksha's fight. A compliment was all it took to take some of the sting out of losing, especially from one with a similar experience behind her.
"Cool!" Dace turned around, her hand going to right behind the Phanpy's left ear. She began scratching vigorously, hard enough that it would have probably hurt a normal animal, but par for the course for the rugged little beast. Her free hand scratched under his chin in a similar manner.
"It's odd that he would like me like that... Most Pokemon tend to get all weirded out by me and stay away." Dace said, her smile subsiding to a subdued grin. "I guess I just give off some kind of vibe that makes them nervous."
"Today must be a record. I've met two that like me from the start in less than an hour." Dace's grin grew larger again, her sorrow now gone except for the tracks it had left down her cheeks.

Max Vs. Durant (Watch out for protect/Double Team/Substitute!) Elliot Vs. Kaz (Ohhh... He doesn't need a convoluted scheme to use fire type!)

An airhorn sounded, signalling the end of the round rather markedly and causing Dace to almost fall over Laksha's Phanpy.
"Geeze Louise! You coulda just SAID something!" Dace mumbled, rubbing her ears. She looked up at the screens to see what had happened to the final battle between the fire types, and was rewarded with static from the screen. She turned to Laksha.
"Any idea what happened?" When her newfound friend acknowledged having no idea of what had occured, Dace decided to take matters into her own hands. It wasn't vital for her to know, but she was curious about the last person to beat her into the semifinals. Max, she could expect. Yoshimitsu also made sense... Durant had surprised her, but that was her own fault. She balled up her fists for a moment, before noticing a young man with a vivid shade of lime green hair coming in from the arena.
"Hey, you! What happened? We couldn't see it from here, with all the smoke and stuff." She said, clearly ignoring the option of an indoor-voice. The man, visibly taken aback for a moment, responded.
"Errr... Well, they were both pretty even. The Chimchar was hitting really hard, but the Torkoal was taking everything it could dish out." The man stopped, thinking of words.
"Go on!" Dace said, wanting to find out the actual outcome.
"Okay, okay. Anyways, so the Chimchar's trainer was really getting into the fight, and decided to end things with a single blow. He had his Chimchar put all of its strength into once massive Overheat attack, and-"
"Who won?" Dace cut him off, craning her neck forwards.
"Nobody won."
"Say WHAT?"
"Not really. Anyways, the blast failed to take out Torkoal, who had hid in its shell for the attack, but the owners of the arena stopped the fight there. The guy's attack blew up four expensive cameras, partially melted the blast screens that we were sitting behind, and actually melted the arena floor."
"Whoa... What'd they do?"
"They disqualified the guy with the Chimchar. Said that he was good, but he was too destructive to keep fighting here."
"Oh, that musta been a bummer," Dace mumbled halfway to herself, somewhat lost in thought.
"He didn't seem that sad or angry," The man concluded. "He just walked away, smiling a sorta weird grin. I think he was annoyed that he lost, but was happy that he did well."
"Makes sense... Um, thanks, Mister!" Dace gave a slight nod to him, and then ran back to Laksha to pass the news along. -------- After a brief interlude, allowing the trainers to heal their champions and catch their breath, a voice came on the public adress system.
"The second round will begin in five minutes. Please finish making your preparations, and make your way to the arena. Max Milen and Durant Larks, please report to arena A. As for the other two semifinalists, Nolan Feld and Yoshimitsu..." The tinny voice booming from the speakers paused, evidently confounded by the lack of a last name.
"Doe?" She offered, then cleared her throat. "You will report to Zone C. Good luck to all of our contestants, and may your battles be as thrilling as your training was hard." There was a click, and the noise faded.
"Looks like it's time to begin." Zebedee said quietly, causing several people on the bleachers to look about, puzzled, for the source of the comment.

When the announcement ended, Laksha turned to Dace. "Hmm... both your opponent and mine are fighting against each other. Why don't we get seats? I'm interested to see how the other battle goes, but I think we ought to be there for this one. Ganesh!"
She snapped her fingers, and Ganesh, who had turned his attention again to the crowd in the lobby, came bounding back to her and Dace.
"The Delibird is about to fight again. Do you care to watch?"
Ganesh trumpeted in agreement. Laksha could tell he had a vested interest in seeing how the Delibird who had defeated him would perform against a new opponent. She brushed her black hair back. She, too, wanted to see how the Delibird -- and Max Milen -- would face the next challenge.

"Sure! Let's get some good seats." Dace darted out of the building and to the stands, not even waiting for Laksha. She ran up the stairs, almost tumbling over the top one, and then came to a stop. She stood still, blinking in the sunlight for a moment. Raising a hand to shield her eyes from the sun, she looked around for two open seats- Wait, not two. Three. Phanpy was big enough that he'd probably need a seat as well.
The nearest spot was three rows up. Not that good, but better than being stuck in the back and having to try and look over people. Dace immediately began moving again, running down the ramp alongside the seats until she came to the spot, and then throwing herself down in her seat resolutely. She did her best to lean over and block off the other seats from being taken, waiting for Laksha to catch up.
