The platform the duo stepped onto immediately rose up from the floor, levitating noislessly, and darted off through the lab. It bobbed over a few obstacles, though the jolt wasn't really very noticable.
A small strip of light on the front of the conveyance seemed to indicate the progress of the trip, starting at a bright shade of red. It rapidly faded to a soothing cerulean as the two were whisked past wonders beyond comprehension to human minds, devices that were hundreds of years into the future of mankind. For Summer, from a world reliant on organic technology, it seemed even more bizarre and unnatural, like some kind of delirious dream.
The platform began to slow, coasting in smoothely. It came to a stop, and dropped with a slight jolt.
<Terrian, Summer, please step off here, and go through the doorway to your right.> The duo obeyed, and stepped into the next room. It didn't seem too peculiar, four white walls and a distinctly vitrious black floor.
<The room here is a bit of a novelty, I'm afraid. We typically only use it for manueverability testing on small craft and robots and such, so it's a bit frenetic.>
<Luckily, I've got the overrides under my control, so I should be able to save you if anything goes wrong.>
A soothing female voice, clearly automatic but with a hint of human intelligence and emotion, piped into the room.
"Testing sequence beginning in five... four... three... two... one."
The walls disappeared, simply fading away, and revealed the true scope of the area. A gigantic white room, probably the size of a superstore, it was home to dozens of mysteriously levitating blocks. Each one, black as obsidian and the size of a boulder, seemed to be following some kind of set course. Some tumbled lazily end over end, while others stuck to rigid courses. Whenever two met, there was an unusual, keening noise, and then they'd push away with an unnaturally sudden jolt.
Summer and Terrian looked to eachother, looked around the room, and then took ten paces away from eachother. This was where it started.

OOC: No lie, I just had a dream that this started. I really wish they were fighting in an orchard or something so that Terrian could open the fight the same way he did in my dream: by throwing an apple at Summer in midsentence.
Terrian made it the full ten paces before staggering a bit. The platform ride through the laboratory had tossed him about to a degree which it certainly hadn't done to this disarmingly pleasant butterfly woman. Hoping she hadn't noticed his stumble, he turned around and said, "It's something, isn't it?"
He studied the Cubist nightmare around them. Some of the blocks were following set patterns, he was sure of that, but others seemed to be moving randomly. It was impossible to keep all of the blocks straight as they ricocheted heavily off each other and fell into new orbits. There was no way a living eye could discern the individual movement of each eerie black shape against the striking white background, because they all looked fundamentally alike... Terrian smiled. There was an idea.
"Tremendous," he added. "Fact, I don't even think one vantage point would be enough to take it all in..."
As he spoke, he stepped forward, leaving a duplicate standing behind him. Then he stepped forward again and left another. Then he stood still and let a duplicate step forward. Then he went on, randomly alternating between the two ways of generation. Even if his opponent thought she could trace the original Terrian Brogue amidst the duplicates, whatever pattern she believed she saw would lead her astray. This wasn't an idle diversion: after all, only the original was carrying the Mage Masher in the inner pocket of his jacket -- and only the original could feel pain.
In another moment he stood among some ten or eleven duplicates. "Nice to meet you, by the way -- Summer, right?" one of them said. "I'm Terrian," another added.

Summer smiled, and greeted her opponent accordingly, "It is nice to meet you, Terrian." She paused glancing innocently at the twelve men, now standing in front of her, each one identical to the next. "It seems as if you're not going to make this easy on me," Summer pulled her hair back, and dug around a bit longer. "Ah, this should do nicely in the beginning."
Summer smiled again, her charm showing, "Tell me, Terrian, do you like flowers? They smell, so wonderful, and they are absolutely beautiful... but they can be deadly as well..." She smiled again, but there was a hint of motivation, "I'm not going to lose..."
Summer delicately placed the seed inbetween her thumb, and index finger, and flicked it in front of the Terrian clones. Soon, three or four more seeds followed, rolling across the ground, stopping just before their feet.

Most of the Terrian Brogues looked down at the seeds curiously, although a few of them kept their eyes warily on Summer. "Tossing down seeds on a glass floor?" one asked. "You're... you're sticking with that one, then?"
"No, it's cool," another one said. "You must know something we don't."
"Yeah, maybe the seeds will still work even if we do this..." A duplicate bent down to pick up one of the seeds, standing up conveniently right after one of the massive black shapes had passed over his stooped form. He tossed the seed in the air. "Catch."
The seed flew in a tall arc, struck another tumbling block, and bounced off neatly into another duplicate's palm. "Reflexes of a cat!" he said, before tossing it again. Another duplicate tried to crush a seed under the heel of his shoe, while yet another pocketed one to try planting later. The original Terrian decided to mentally warn one of his duplicates against eating the last seed, though. Probably wasn't a good idea.

Summer smiled at the playful-ness of Terrians clone counterparts, "I would discard the seeds, if you don't want to get hurt. They're are a special brand, you don't feel the ominous energy coming from them?"
Summer extended her palm a faint green aura eminating from it. The seeds began to germinate, where they were, tearing into flesh, if a clone were to hold it, or attempting to dig into the solid floor. The seeds grew into tiny innocent plants in a blink of an eye, small bell like flowers budding on the green stems. A small screech heard as the bell like flowers began to grow teeth, and patterns that resembled eyes. "It's my own creating, inspired by something called "the death plant, with a little bit of coaxing, I've made my own version."

Terrian winced suddenly. Barely stifling a cry of pain, he sent an admonishing message to the duplicates who had been playing catch with the first seed. The one holding it now didn't even seem to realize that the seed had been gnawing away at the palm of his hand. He tossed it to the ground with an apology to Terrian. Meanwhile, the duplicate who had pocketed one of the seeds was now forced to pull off his jacket and drop it to the floor in concession of the carnivorous-looking plant that had taken form within the folds of cloth.
what do? came a message from one of the duplicates in rapid-fire shorthand. look immobile. right?
don't approach, Terrian responded, to all the duplicates at once. small but possible grow. if they Terrian was cut off in mid-thought by the sight of a black Oxford shoe flying through the air and smashing one of the plants into the floor.
Terrian looked around, startled. One of his duplicates stood minus one shoe but plus an expression of triumph.
"Eye of a hawk!" he said.
With a resigned grin, Terrian watched as several of the other duplicates followed this one's lead in beating the plowshare into the sword, using their stylish dress shoes as artillery against the diabolical-looking plants. For his part, however, Terrian and a handful more ran toward Summer head-on, ducking and dodging around the black structures as they pursued their own courses. He wasn't going to let Summer stand there and wave her hands around for the whole fight. Not even Terrian Brogue was that much of a limp-limbed pansy.

Summer reacting quickly grabbed for another seed placed inside of the back of her head, nestled in her vibrant green hair. Whipping her arm around, she produced a whip, with thorns threatening to slice anything it came in contact with, "I seen this idea on a show!" She winked, cracking her 'rose whip' at the charging Terrians.
Summer, deciding not to stay grounded, fluttered her magnificent wings and took flight, expertly swaying around the giant blocks, homing in on her opponents.
This is hard, using this much energy to fend off all the clones, and then having to speed grow a rose whip. This is going to be much more difficult then I assumed

Stinging pain ran up and down Terrian's arms and chest as the rose whip lashed several of the attacking duplicates. He ignored it for the moment. Much more pressing was his concern that Summer had finally decided to break out the big guns and take flight. He could always give in and try to shoot her down, but he didn't want to give away his position just yet... There was another way. Which would probably fail miserably, but it would be a good spectacle nonetheless.
When she wasn't looking in his direction, he covertly sent out a few more duplicates, then transmitted a command to all of his duplicates in the room. They all leapt for lesser blocks as they passed by and tried to climb on. Within a moment, a few were still trying, but most of the duplicates, and Terrian himself, were standing on blocks and holding their balance as the blocks drifted through the air.
Three of them were carried toward Summer at the same time, two from the front and one from behind. As she flew back to avoid the first two, the third one threw a punch at the back of her head.

OOC: I figured I better post before I become disqualified from the topic. ;D

The punch connected, making a clean hit to the back of the butterfly womans head. She flew forward slamming head first into one of the giant floating blocks, and floated slowly down to the ground, as if like a feather. With a soft thud, she landed on the ground, her body seemingly limp, and lifeless.
That really hurt... A small voice in Summer's head spoke. Her arms stretched outward, struggling to straighten herself out, her body shaking and her muscles weakened by the blunt trauma to her cranium. "Terrian," She said grunting, regaining her ground, blood flowing from her hair, traveling slowly down her face, "It seems that I have, underestimated your ability. Your trickery seems to work well."
The tone of her voice completely changed, a hunger lingered with her last words to Terrian. Something had changed about Summer, something... deviant. "It seems that I can finally use my powers against someone, finally get to show someone what I'm really made of. I took you lightly... clones seemed to be the least of my worries. You control them expertly," Summer chuckled, wiping the blood from her forehead.

Messages, some like spoken words, some like printed text, and some like images, flickered around and throughout. Standing atop his block, Terrian listened to the duplicates conferring urgently:
She's bleeding? From one punch?
Not even to the face!
Aww, now I feel bad...
What should we do?
She's not in the air anymore, Terrian pointed out.
Ohh.
That means "kick her while she's down," right?
Dick move but I love it anyway!
Terrian's response was packaged in with a mental image of himself waving a hand in dismissal. I didn't tell you guys to do anything. All I said was that she's not in the air anymore.
His duplicates back on the floor beamed and rushed forward at Summer with gleeful abandon, preparing to punch and kick at any available spot. Several of the duplicates who had gotten up onto the blocks now jumped down to aid in the attack, but several more stayed up above, to keep Terrian's cover. As he observed the advance, he allowed himself a sigh which happened to occur exactly at the moment that another block smashed into his and practlcally knocked him to the floor. Cursing, he regained his footing atop the block. Fine; he understood. This was no time for theatrics.

Summer looked up, her eyes darting all across the room looking for the main Terrian, until she was jumped by his duplicates. The scene that unfolded was similar to that of a playful dogpile, a bunch of grown men jumping a woman, trying to beat her to death. "It's sad," Summer muttered, the duplicates still kicking, "I have you right in RANGE!" Her eyes widened as thorns exploded outwards everywhere from her hair, a ton of plants all growing in a mad rush, impaling most anything that came into range.
OOC: Sorry it is short, I cant' really think of anything. ^_^;;

Fabric was torn and drops of blood flew as the thorns lacerated the skin of the oncoming duplicates. Without so much as flinching, they pressed on, beating and kicking through the branches, even as the spiked limbs lifted some of them into the air. The devil of it really was that none of them were crying out in pain, though their clothes and the floor beneath them took on a dark red sheen. In fact, one of them was actually laughing as he tugged with bleeding arms at one of Summer's glassy butterfly wings.
"Tenacity of an ox!" he shouted.
Well, that was all well and good for him. Terrian, on the other hand, was on his hands and knees, clutching at the corners of the block with blanched white hands. In fact, the skin going all the way up past his hands into his sleeves looked very white indeed... He would have asked one of the duplicates to confirm whether his face looked chalky, but his mental faculties were busy with other activites, like keeping his mouth shut as opposed to screaming his lungs out and then drooling a little.
Tears filled his eyes. He bit down hard on his tongue, but he could tell it wouldn't do anything. He wasn't going to be able to remain incognito for much longer. He slid one hand off its corner of the block.
And allowed himself to tuck his chin down into his collar for one choked outcry before pulling the Mage Masher out from the pocket of his jacket and firing down at Summer.
OOC: I need a couple more rounds before I can throw in the towel. Plot purposes and all that.

The shot zoomed through the air, tearing through limbs of thorns and foliage, the velocity of the shot decreasing with each branch it decided to bore through. The trajectory of the shot was skewed as the shot nicked the top of Summers cranium, still causing pain. With a blood curdling shrill cry, it was obvious that Summer was inflicted with a terrible pain, but her ability was not impacted. With every power comes a price, and Summer's awesome abilities would take there toll, if she were to drag this fight out much longer. The branches that exploded outward from the base of her hair, were all boring roots under the skin, and digging deep into the veins of her body. She had to finish the clone off, and quickly, she was done toying with him, using the weakest of her abilities. It is time.
Summer thought to herself, standing upward, branches dis-lodging from her skull, or breaking off in random places, the sound similar to branches breaking off from a tree. The iris of her eye was an even brighter emerald color, eluding to the power flowing from within. Glancing she ensnared a clone, with branches that embedded themselves into the tiles of the floor, flinging him as if a child would flick a bug off from their shoe. The appearance of this woman has changed dramatically. Her arms, legs, and torso covered in crimson blood, her hair fused with green thorns from a rose bush, swaying and bending freely like the tendrils, or spikes resembling a Sea urchin, or Octopus, searching for blood, searching for something to destroy. Her clothes were torn, but were still intact to cover the unmentionables, anything not covered were covered by the plants over taking her body. The only thing that hasn't been affected by the thorns, and impalements of the recent events, is her lustrous wings, which must remain in tact for her powers to work. Beating with her massive wings, she took flight, in search for her prey. She spotted Terrian, clutching to the end of the block, "I've found you..." She said in a low voice, extending out her right arm. The tendrils responded thrashing around wildly, being controlled by her powers, twisting about the extended outward corkscrewing and spinning attempting to take out the real Terrian.

OOC: I would love it if you could throw an actual direct attack in at the end of that post. You know, on the guy with the gun, specifically. As I said, I'm not looking to win this battle, I'm looking to accomplish something which could be done in my next post if you straight-up attack.

Terrian pulled himself up slightly from his position crouched low on top of the block. Though his eyes were still streaming, he could see clearly enough to aim the Mage Masher directly at the spot between Summer's bright green eyes. He repeated an earlier question in a hoarse shout.
"You're sticking with that one?"
Which was when a much larger black cube, spinning madly, came up out of the corner of his vision and smashed sidelong against his own block. The impact send Terrian's shot wild; he teetered dangerously. The larger block was propelled toward Summer and forced her incoming form back, but not before one of the twisting tendrils outgrown from her hair struck Terrian's shoulder just as he thought he'd be able to retake his balance.
A few of the onlooking duplicates had enough time to register cries of alarm before Terrian met the floor.
The nearest handful were by his side in an instant. "Can you hear me?" "What's broken?" "Shit, call it off!" As a couple of them helped him to his feet, Terrian looked around dully. His head was spinning. Oh, there was a new duplicate picking himself up. Yeah. Usually happened whenever Terrian took a heavy fall. Reflexes maybe. Terrian found he couldn't draw his eyes away from the new duplicate's face, though. Strange thing. Ah, maybe it was because the duplicate's facial expression was conveying... something Terrian wouldn't have expected. You know what, amazement, that was it.
Terrian couldn't figure out why until the duplicate lifted his right hand. His fingers were clutching the handle of a pale-colored gun. Terrian did a quick inventory and realized that his fingers were still clutching the handle of a pale-colored gun. So the one the duplicate was holding had to be a different pale-colored gun.
Without even thinking about what he was doing, Terrian watched as another new duplicate stepped forward out of his supported position. This duplicate was also holding a Mage Masher.
The three gunmen looked at each other.
Then, after neither a spoken word nor a shared thought, the two duplicates raised their guns to the heavens and started firing at Summer. Still held upright by two of the unarmed duplicates, Terrian sent out another duplicate, and another, and another, all carrying more Mage Mashers into the world, and all of them setting their sights upon the floral Medusa overhead. Upon the already present noises of the blocks ramming into each other was added a thick new layer of gunfire.
It made Terrian's head hurt even more. He slumped slightly and let his eyes fall shut. He'd never created so many duplicates in so short a span of time. There was a pressure on his system which felt greater with every new duplicate. He became aware of an overwhelming urge to let himself fall asleep.
OOC: Okay, that's all I needed to do, thanks. You can finish Terrian off. I'd rather see more of Summer in the next round than try to go for it myself.

Summer averted the spiraling vines one branch to each duplicate, piercing each in the chest. Blood began to run down the sides of Summers mouth, the plants power sapping her life away, her power was almost to its end.
"No," Summer said loudly, "What does not kill me, only makes me stronger, YOU!, TERRIAN! You have made me stronger this day!" Summer let out a loud scream, more plants violently exploding outward searching for prey, piercing duplicates left and right, looking for the real terrian.

Still held upright by two duplicates, Terrian tilted his head up faintly, without opening his eyes. "No kidding...?" he murmured. "That makes two of us." He realized that he was moving forward quickly across the room; the duplicates had broken into a run.
He smiled. "Or... however many."
His shins came up against something solid. An outstretched root, maybe. Didn't really feel like opening his eyes to confirm. Or like raising his hands to prevent the fall. With cries of shock, the two duplicates went down with him.
* * *
The instant they hit the ground, something unusual happened. All of the duplicates on the battlefield appeared to flicker out of existence for the tiniest fraction of a second, beginning with those closest to the original Terrian and rippling out to the gunmen in the farthest corners of the room. Each one promptly reappeared as before, but all looked stricken. The duplicates who had been supporting Terrian now knelt over his prone form.
"He's down!" one of them yelled.
"It's over?"
"Man, it is over!"
"Big guy going to be all right?"
"Oh, we've had worse."
"Damn, I really thought that one was in the bag."
"What are you going to do? Bullets. It's like throwing popcorn at these people."
"Tell you what. Next time, we'll bring a flamethrower."
"How are we going to get a flamethrower?"
"We'll burn that bridge when we come to it."
