Rick rolled over and out of bed, his shaggy blue hair falling around his face. He stretched and scratched his stomach as he walked over to the window and pulled back the curtain.
“Rick…” Mia muttered in a disgruntled tone as she rolled over in an attempt to evade the sunlight.
The mage smiled and leaned out the window, watching Shin-Ra sparkle in the morning sun. A few people were already out and about setting up shops and getting ready for the first Mage Festival in hundreds of years. Apparently, as Rick had been told, the festival had always been in place to show peaceful intentions to the non-magic folk of the world and other non-human races. It made him happy to know that they were trying hard to reconnect with the world they had cut themselves away from.
A few specks on the horizon grew steadily as Rick watched them for several minutes. Their forms elongated into thin lines as they neared. Eventually it became evident that the outer parts of the lines were gradually rising and falling like wings. Within moments the specks, two drakens, had arrived in the city and landed silently among a few of the mages in the town square. Immediately the group looked as though they were entering a heavy discussion and, with mages nodding and showing them to a large open space set aside for guest shops.
“Hey,” Rick said tuning from the window and addressing Mia, “Looks like Valon’s people are gonna have a few booths too. Wonder if he’ll be here at some point.”
“Why can’t you be normal and sleep like everyone else,” Mia said from underneath the covers.
“Cause I didn’t stay up all night in an OCD haze trying to make sure everything was ready for the festival. You’ve been planning this for a month and triple checking everything, what on earth would possess you to do a massive final check the night before?” Rick said as he grabbed an apple and sat down on the edge of the bed.
“Rick that’s my job, the Third is always supposing to make sure the city is runs smoothly and that visitors feel welcome. If something was to go wrong I wanted to be the first to know.” Mia said as she sat up and took the apple from Rick as he was just about to bite into it.
Rick frowned and grabbed another apple, “Third, hum… I guess I outrank you now.”
Mia stared blankly at him for a moment, “You got the position?”
He smiled, “Yeah, unanimous vote from the Sixth, Seventh, and Ninth. I’m now the Second and in charge of the mage Army.”
Mia smiled and then pushed Rick out of bed, “Then you need to get dressed! The Council of Twelve are all suppose to meet in the Hall of Law before the festival begins to assign duties!”
“Why aren’t you getting ready then?” Rick asked confused.
“Because I am in charge of entire festival. I decide what I do today, now go!” She said throwing the covers over her.
Rick shrugged and went downstairs to shower and change. When he was ready he fit the hilt of the Diablo into his belt and headed out into the still sparkling morning light.
OOC: If nothing else you can show up in Shin-Ra for the festival. I see it as either you go to Drakengard and your characters arrive with Valon or you go to the lab and leave with Sly. If you don’t have connections with either character then just show up in the city early.
This is a big topic (but not the epic one me and DL have planned) I expect everyone to use as many characters as they can in this. And I expect to see both Miko and Zeb in this one.

All these trips to Whelkshore, he might as well just move there.
No. That wasn't...
Well, he could. It wasn't as though he had altogether too many things tying him down.
But of course there were those in Whelkshore who wouldn't be exactly pleased to find out he had taken up permanent residence there. And the trip from Olivine to Whelkshore was hardly demanding; only a couple of hours. Not a problem.
All the same he was finding himself there more and more often these days.
One of the difficulties of Terrian Brogue's power was that even with no duplicates around he had developed an overactive instinct for internal dialogue.
He pulled, for the second time, into the driveway of a stately house in a little neighborhood in Whelkshore. This time, unlike last, it was in the darker hours of evening. Thankfully he was here on much less distressing business than the day of his first visit. Also thankfully, he was here by invitation this time, so odds seemed good no one was going to shout that she didn't want him there.
This was Sly's house. The -- not man, Terrian remembered -- the thing -- the extracurricular being -- the alien, Terrian supposed, had invited him to stay for a few days. Sly had expressed an interest in running several tests ("painless", the email had assured) to ascertain whether Terrian's power stemmed from genetic mutation or some other factor. And Sly had invited him for another reason, too: there was a festival today. The Mage Festival. Yes. An event intended to -- what was it -- "afford magic-users the opportunity to reach out to the non-magical majority, demonstrate their peaceful intentions, and move together toward their common goals."
Terrian wasn't sure whether he counted as magical or non-magical in the festival's setup -- Sly had hinted that the event was a centuries-old tradition, possibly predating the existence of powers like Terrian who didn't derive their abilities from the practice of magic -- but the Mage Festival sounded fascinating to observe in any case.
Sly had written that Terrian was one of several people whom he'd invited to travel with him to see the festival. The phrase "mutual friends" had been used, although it seemed to Terrian that he and Sly didn't share that many friends. Acquaintances, yes... but Natalie, and Valon... Well, that fellow Zebedee seemed like a good man. And, of course, there was Rie...
But that made Terrian think of Ender, and he thought it best not to do this as he walked up the steps of Sly's front porch and knocked on the door.

A large emerald green gate formed just on the road outside of Shin-Ra. The mass seemed to be made of smoke but was impossible to see through. From the opening stepped two Drakens side by side. Each was dressed in a leather kilt with a matching leather vest, allowing their powerful wings to be free to move. They each also carried a silver lanturn that burned with an emerald flame as well as a walking stick carved from a very dark colored wood. Soon after the appearance of the Drakens came a pair of Aldra-Sa dressed in the same manner, then came another two Drakens and so on. After twelve sets of Draken and Aldra-Sa had stepped through the gate a set of differently dressed Aldra-Sa appeared. The first was dressed in gray-blue robes with bronze bracers and breastplate. Each piece of metal on the mans body was inlayed with serpant designs. At the his waist he carried a bronze sword and sheath as well as an ornate dagger carved from bronze and jade. The man had long gray hair and flat slate colored eyes that sweeped across the path as if he was worried that some attack could come at any moment. The second figure wore much more ornate dressings and looked every bit the part of royalty. His shirt and pants were black as coal and his boots were much the same but shone in the morning light. Over these he wore a purple and green robe with accents of emerald chain. The black cloth on his left arm and leg were left revealed which gave the figure a very unique appeal. A long wrap of green scales graced his shoulders and then wrapped around his waist. He had long black hair and a neatly trimmed goatee of the same shade. The grouping of figures walked along the road and into the walls of Shin-Ra. The leather bound Draken and Aldra-Sa continued on towards a pair of booths that were manned by another two Draken, while the two differently dressed Aldra-Sa stopped near the enterance. The royal looking figure drew in a deep breath and smiled wide at his surroundings. "Master, why do you seem so cheerful today?" the gray clad figure asked as he moved his hand to his sword, prepared for anything. "That's simple to answer Marius. This is my first visit to this place and on such a wonderful occasion. You can't tell me that you don't enjoy exploring new places and meeting new peoples, young Marius." the royal figure stated as he began taking long, slow strides towards the booths of his people. "I can say that fairly easily Master Valon. I would much rather reside within Drakengrad than go on your constant adventures, but I know that if I am to learn from you that I must do as you say." Marius stated as he reluctantly followed behind. "You know that there is very little left for me to teach you other than some social graces Marius. You are already the master of serpants and your use of a sword is far greater than mine. What else is there for me to teach you?" Valon asked in a very soft, yet cheerful tone. "I want to learn how you are able to control different energies and use them as weapons. Your Grandeur Wave is the most impressive thing that I have ever seen. I want to learn it from you." "That's something that I can't teach you. I don't know where the power to use it has come from, but no other Aldra-Sa or Draken has ever been able to muster the amount of energy control to use such an attack other than myself. Not even my late brother could learn how to use it." "Then you are to say that I will never be able to master it?" "I would say not, but I've been wrong before. Keep your dreams alive Marius, but let's not discuss this any further today. We've business to attend to." Valon stated as he joined his Draken and Aldra-Sa at their booths. As Valon joined his troop, many pieces of silver and gold jewlery inlayed with precious stones were being layed out. Many people were approaching the tables and marveling over the beauty of the pieces. Among the group was a red mage of six years old at the most. She skipped up to Valon with a huge smile on her face and tugged at his robe playfully. "Mister, what kind of magic do you do?" the girl asked softly. "My child, we are blessed with the use of Silver magic." Valon answered as he knelt down to her level. "What is silver magic?" "Simply, it is a magic that allows us to create metals and jewels such as the ones on this table. But we can also use this magic in battle to repel our enemies." "Can you show me?" "Of course." and with that Valon placed his hand around the wrist on the girl and smiled. A moment later a silver glow appeared under Valons hand and wrapped around the girls wrist. Marius muttered something under his breath about being a showoff, but Valon ignored him and continued to work. A moment later Valon removed his hand and where it once had been rested a silver bracelet inlayed with small rubies. The girl sucked in a deep gasp of air in amazement and then ran off to show her mother the gift that the royal stranger had given her. "I love making children smile. Soon, I'll be able to do the same for my child." Valon said to Marius. "Yes my Lord, the princess of Drakengrad will be a beautiful child." Marius remarked as he took a seat behind on of the stalls. "And it will be your job to watch over her whenever the need arrives Marius, remember that. I'm trusting you with my heart here and I know that you won't fail me." "Never Master. I would rather die than see the royal family of Drakengrad suffer a lose." "As I know my friend. Now if you will excuse me, I need to speak with someone." Valon said, noticing Rick emerge from a nearby building, he began after him so as to say hello. OOC- Here's the image of Valon in his royal dressings.

OOC- Sack it, I'll use Yoshi, maybe Vincent too. And a few piddly secondary characters maybe. Idk. One thing I need to check, though - does Zebedee have a house or live in the gym or what? OOC - Zebedee has a mansion within the same neighborhood as Sly's house and "the guest house" where Ender lives (I'm not sure who owns the guest house exactly. Maybe that's Zebedee's too). End Game confirmed all this for me.

Sarosin Narita's eye twitched behind his sunglasses. It was fairly early in the morning, he hadn't had his coffee yet, and he was standing on the edge of the expansive plaza where several peculiar people in peculiar attire seemed to be preparing for some peculiar festival.
A sign near him read "Shin-Ra." Another read "Mage Festival." Sarosin didn't know where Shin-Ra was. He didn't know why there was a mage festival happening. He didn't have a sustainable amount of caffeine in his system. On this morning, Sarosin Narita had taken the wrong bus.
He took a deep breath and looked around again. At a booth not far away from him, a regal looking man knelt in front of a small girl around whose wrist he presently magicked a silver bracelet. Sarosin's eye twitched again, and he reached into an interior pocket of his coat for his cigarette case and a lighter. It was going to be a long day, he felt. A very long, very strange day. “They purchased a commercial?” Merlin asked bewildered staring at the TV. In front of him, on the wall sized television was Mia introducing herself, explaining the purpose of the grand event, and extending an invitation to all normal and non-normal inhabitants of the world. < No, they made the commercial themselves, then purchased the air time. Quite a substantial amount – the advertisement plays four times evenly spaced throughout the day and in each country in their native language.> Sly corrected his friend. The two had been relaxing as they flipped through channels and occasionally informed Sly’s newest house, Jonas, in the way things worked around here. Currently the giant of a man was sitting next to Merlin on the couch and listening intently to the two as they conversed. Sly was laying a cushion specially made for his oddly shaped body in front of them. “You know what I mean! Back in the great war people were killed on all three sides for revealing that anything other than normal human’s existed.” Merlin said frustrated, “It started with the Summoners… no, even before them. When Wudge fought Giovanni and Pallet Town suffered destruction, that’s when it started. Now Drakengard has fallen from the sky and added to Africa and now the Shin-Ra in South America has revealed itself.” “You two fellas were in dat war? But wadn’t just TR and da Alliance?” Jonas asked. < No Jonas, there was a third faction calling themselves the Rebels, but they never ventured outside the Pokemon Isles. TR wanted nothing more than world domination and the Alliance’s only purpose was to play anti-thesis to TR; that’s why they are know globally. I can assure you though, the Rebels were just as horrid as TR.> “Gosh, dat’s amazing. You fellas fought for the Alliance, right?” Jonas nodded. “Rebels.” Merlin answered annoyed. < TR.> Sly chimed in then returned the conversation back to their original discussion, < I’m actually excited the two societies are smoothly integrating into another; those who are normal with those who are extraordinary. There are bumps here and there but overall it’s an amazing to witness this drastic change in world culture.> “Heck,” Jonas laughed, “Ya could probably walk down da street in ya normal body, right Sly?” < Unfortunately no - there were a few on all three sides that wanted me dead, especially after my desertion. While the war may be over, not everyone gives up grudges as easily as Merlin did.> Jonas looked between the two, “On a dese days, ya fellas are gonna have to explain it all to me.” Merlin nodded to Jonas then continued, “Still, ugh, I don’t know how to explain it Sly, I just don’t like it. I don’t like change.” As the three continued, their discussion there was an eventual, expected, knock on the door. Jonas leapt to his feet eagerly and crossed the room to answer the door. “Ello! You’re Terrian right? Come on in,” Jonas said as he moved his ample amount of body out of the doorway, “Ya remember me right? I’m da fella ya met da night dat… yeah…” Jonas trailed off as he remembered some of the sadder and more awkward parts of the whole ordeal that had lead him to meeting Terrian. Merlin looked over the couch and at the doorway, “New friend of yours Sly?” he whispered. Sly answered him in private thought-speak, < He’s a terribly brilliant and extraordinary young man, and from what I’ve seen if he has the proper guidance and the right friends, he’ll be important in guiding this newly developing society in the direction it needs to be heading.> OOC: For some reason the Rick portion just wouldn’t come out right. DL, lets assume that Rick is walking away from you and ya need to instigate the convo.

Terrian, who had been expecting Sly's otherworldly form at the door, was taken aback when he was greeted by a wholly human yet enormous figure instead. It was Jonas, the big fellow he'd met his last time here. The one who'd come up out of the sewer.
"Hey, Jonas. Of course I remember you, guy." Terrian smiled as he shook the large man's hand. He wouldn't have found it easy to forget Jonas, especially the moment when he had nearly smashed Terrian through the ceiling by mistake... But Jonas had helped Terrian, really. His simple, singular enthusiasm had pulled Terrian out of a bad bout of indecision. That counted for a lot.
Terrian followed Jonas into the living room, where he saw Sly and another fellow. Strange; given what Sly had said about inviting a group, Terrian had at least half expected to see the likes of Rie and Zebedee... and Natalie. "How are you, Sly?" he asked brightly. "I haven't been holding you guys up, have I? Or are we waiting for anyone else?"
He cast an eye over the other man, whom he thought he recognized. "Oh, and, um... hey. I think we've met, haven't we? On the airship with Sly, maybe? But I forget your name, I'm sorry."

Jacqueline had seen a commercial on a TV in a store window as she rode by on her mime bike early in the morning. She silently skidded to a stop to watch it and her eyes lit up; it looked like it'd be fun.
A few hours later after quietly screaming through the air on a mime jet, she landed at the festival. There were booths everywhere with everything you could (or couldn't) imagine. There were also an odd assortment of characters wearing every color imaginable. It actually hurt her eyes a bit since she hadn't looked at so many bright things since the last time she visited her family, so she pretended to put on some shades with an over-exaggerated smile that seemed to say "Much better!"
Jackie then went to perusing through the booths. One in particular caught her attention; the silver jewelry there was encrusted with precious stones that would make Scrooge McDuck turn green. She walked up and began peering at the table with her finger over her mouth as if in thought.

Eragon knocked cautiously on the door frame, just behind Jonas. "Uh hello?" He said, cautiously. "I got a tip off that I should head over here if I wanted to check out the mage festival?" Eragon asked cautiously. He had one hand in his dagger, but it was casual and not at all threatening. He just looked relaxed, though something about his stance clearly spoke of nerves. He'd heard of Sly before.

Prime walked calmly through the streets of Shin-Ra, and for the first time since the...incident, he felt welcome. He was wearing a black samurai style robe, and had a large sword strapped to his back. Very large, in fact. It was nearly as tall as he was, with a blade as wide as his hand. Straight and double edged, it looked oddly like it had been wrapped in blue a white mist, slowly shimmering above the surface of the blade.
He wandered aimlessly, for the moment, curious about what had called him here. It certainly hadn't been the commercials, more like a certain familiarity with the place. Though he didn't know from where it stemmed.
He kept wandering, calmly, until he ran into a familiar face.
"Primus." He said, calmly. The god slowly turned to look at him, and nodded silently. Prime always felt tense around the man, though he didn't know why. It was like talking to an old friend you didn't know anymore, after they'd become something you couldn't even fathom they'd become. He shrugged it off mentally. "What are you doing here?" He asked, casually.
Primus shrugged, "Just came by the mingle," He said, with a sparkle in his eye, "That and Odin sent me a nice little message saying I should be here today. For one reason or another. One listens to Odin when he tells you to do something, otherwise he points that spear at you. And trust me, getting hit with that things sucks, even for a god." He cringed, "What about you?" He asked, cautiously.
Prime shrugged, "Something about the place just felt familiar, like I was drawn to it." Prime sighed, "I don't know what to make of it, maybe I'll know later on, as with quite a few other things I'd really like to know." Primus shrugged.
Tempest walked down the street, still wondering what to do. He'd been kicked out of that forge so suddenly, and he didn't know whether his brother was nearby or not. The seal on his chest pained him, and his sword was heavy beyond belief. He supposed he shouldn't be surprised, it was made of dragons themselves after all. He might as well bear the weight of the world.
Currently the hellishly powerful blade was on his back, entirely concealed with cloth, and a few talismens, though they didn't really help. The sword battled with his mind and ate him away on the inside, but still he persevered. He wouldn't surrender mastery to the sword. It would surrender to him, even if he has to destroy his own soul.
His eye's burned, but still, he calmed the fires and looked around himself calmly as much as he could. There might be someone here who could help him, there might not. One never knew such things until one found them. He sighed, inwardly. He just didn't know what to do.

Post by Yoshimitsu on Apr 1, 2009 6:03:34 GMT -5
Yoshimitsu sat in his kitchen, as per usual. He still hadn't figured out just why he had a living room, nor why it was decorated and furnished, considering he spent nearly all of his time in his kitchen. Even though the living room had comfortable couches and chairs, he still preferred to sit in the wooden seats around the circular table, watching the somewhat smaller television on the side. Sat on the table in front of him was his breakfast, a plate stacked high with toast. The toast was disappearing at a surprisingly rapid rate as Yoshimitsu absent mindly ate it. There was nothing particularly good on, so he was flicking between a news program and a chat show.
As soon as he finished his toast, he stood up and went to wash his plate, turning on the kettle as he did. One cup of coffee was not nearly enough for him. Not to mention that so much toast had made his throat very dry. In the background, he was vaguely listening to some woman who was convinced her son was sleeping with the neighbors. Why he watched that rubbish was beyond him, but he did. Part way through making his coffee, something caught his attention. An advertisement, for a Mage Festival, from what he could figure. A festival for all magical and non-magical people. Naturally, he was intrigued.
"By the mages..." Yoshimitsu muttered. He didn't recall that faction. In fact, he had never heard of the mages before. On the other hand, who didn't love a festival? And did he hear something about Drakengrad? That obviously meant Valon would be present. Yoshimitsu grinned. It looked like a promising day out. He downed his coffee, then went upstairs to change.
Minutes later, what looked like a circling breeze occured. A few leaves and twigs were caught up in the wind, spiraling as someone appeared very abruptly. Yoshimitsu stood in the middle of the wind, looking carefree. His blue hair was spiky as ever, though he had fashioned it into a side fringe at the front. On his top, he was wearing a semi-slim-fit, long sleeved white t-shirt and a necklace with a ring on it. His jeans were dark, slightly faded grey, casual fit and held up by a black leather belt. White skate shoes and the Bahamut Blade at his waist completed the outfit.
The wind died down, and Yoshimitsu's eyes fell on an individual who happened to be smoking. He sauntered over, pulling out his own packet of cigarettes and lighting one with a flame from his finger.
"You look like you need a few more hours in bed," he said casually.
* * *
Felix sighed. This just wasn't his day. He knew it would turn out badly right from when he rolled out of bed unceremoniously. He had landed on a smashed bottle of vodka and cut his arm, then found out he had no hot water for a shower and to top it all off he was nearly out of coffee. To try to help his case, he had sat in the coffee room for no fewer than an hour downing coffee. It hadn't helped. For some reason, someone thought it would be a good idea to swap to de-caff coffee. Needless to say, he wasn't impressed.
Now, he was sat in a place he knew nothing about. Shin-Ra, he thought he heard. Unfortunately, he had never heard of it before. He didn't even know where it was, just that there was some kind of mage festival going on. So there he was, sat on his own. Not sure on the proper etiquette, he had been hesitant about even smoking. Then, he had noticed some blue-haired teenager teleport in and promptly light a cigarette. Shrugging slightly, he pulled a spliff out of his pocket and lit it. At the same time, he pulled a mobile out of his pocket and punched in a number.
"On standby, like you said," he said in a bored voice. "Yeah yeah, I'll keep an eye out. No, I'm not smoking. 'Sides, so what if I am? I wouldn't be the only one. Yeah yeah yeah, shut up, I don't care it's bad for me. I'll keep you posted, go away." He hung up and slipped the phone back into his pocket. After taking another long drag, he let his gaze return to the scene in front of him.

Valon began to push his way through the growing crowd of mages and normals people alike. As the morning was wearing on people had begun flocking the the bazaar area to marvel over the wares offered by the mages. It didn't help matters that the Draken booth was the most popular yet and the crowd kept growing. Valon fought his way through the tourists and casters for what seemed like forever until he got a bit frustrated and decided to utilize his knowledge of silver magic. Valon allowed his aura to flair for a moment and his body vanished from where he stood. A half second later Valon appeared before Rick with his arms held out wide.
“Rick, it's been far to long.” Valon said as he pulled Rick into a brief embrace and then held him at arms length.
“It's a wonderful city you have here. Mind showing me around?”
OOC- Super short but requested.

A stiff breeze rustled Sarosin's russet hair; he took a drag and held it in for a moment, watching as debris the wind caught centralized a few yards from him. The scraps circled for a moment, twirling and skittering against the pavement in the whirlwind, then disbursed. In their wake stood a well-dressed blue-haired youth.
Sarosin exhaled, shaking his head as if to clear it of all the strange things he'd already experienced in his short time being awake today, and flicked the ash behind him. The young man presently walked toward him.
"You look like you need a few more hours in bed," the kid commented, studying him briefly as he lit up his own cigarette. Sarosin nodded and wondered briefly exactly how disheveled and irritated he looked. The pair stood in silence for a moment, then he exhaled another cloud of smoke and chuckled and inclined his head toward the young man. "You know," he started, smirking, "I just wanted coffee. Got on the bus. And...now I'm here."
He regarded the young man out of the corner of his eye for a moment, then removed his sunglasses. "Name's Sarosin. D'you know where here is, by any chance? Or where I can find some coffee?"

Rie had fallen asleep on Ender's old couch with the TV on, again. Since Ender left, she had been continued sleeping on that couch, much to Nat's chagrin. Zebedee didn't seem to mind, and Ender did say she could use it, so Rie never moved. It was more convenient than motels, too.
She never did use the bed, though. In fact, the bed was in the same state that Ender had left it in.
A particularly loud commercial woke the girl up. Stupid Billy Mays. She started drifting back to sleep when another commercial popped up. It was about real magic. Rie hated real magic. It was the only thing that could hit her no matter how she shifted. She turned off the TV and went farther underneath her blanket, hoping no one would wake her up.
-----
Julia Romanesco was on a plane. She had heard of this "Shin-Ra" event days before and almost immediately booked a flight and canceled all her appointments for the day. She was surprised the mages hadn't been a bit better about advertisement. The only reason she had heard of it was due to the nature of her job; Julia was a hypnotherapist, but somehow she ended up specializing in victims of true paranormal incidents. The Powers tended to cause a lot of collateral damage, not even including those that specifically targeted normal humans. Mages tended to fall into paranormal studies, and study she would to help her patients.
The woman had money, and as such she sat in business class. She was watching the television, which was actual broadcast, when a commercial came on about Shin-Ra. That would explain the lack of advertising. Leave it to mages to think that normal people could get to their city in one day.
Soon, her sound system went silent and was replaced by a stewardess saying that the plane would be landing soon. Julia kept the screen on while she reset her chair and buckled her seatbelt. 10 minutes later, and the plane started shaking as it touched down and came to a stop.
Julia didn't bring any real luggage. She was planning on flying out the following morning, so all she had was a backpack with a change of clothes and various essentials. Since she didn't need to get any checked in bags, she went straight to the taxi line and told a driver, in broken Spanish, to take her to Shin-Ra.
OOC: Detailess post is detailess.

“Don’t worry about it; I’m a rather forgettable person,” he said as he stood and approached the two at the door, “Just call me Merlin.”
With the three greeting each other by the door Sly stretched and extended his front legs. Leaning his human like upper body forward, his hindquarters raised just enough to allow his rear legs to gain footing and push himself up. As the deer like portion of his body rose, the human part righted itself in a curving motion. His tail hung lazily low to the ground, curving back towards the body after a few feet so that the tail-blade hung in the air around Sly’s front knee.
<Terrian, it’s a pleasure to see you again.> Sly said as he walked towards the group as causally as an inter-dimensional alien centaur could, <Actually you’re the first to arrive. I->
Everyone turned at the sound of Johns knocking on the door. Slys tail rose slightly as he looked quizzically at the young man, both Merlin and Jonas seemed just as wary.
<Yes, that would be correct.> Sly answered as he studied the new comer, <If you could supply us with your name, that information would be greatly appreciated.>

“Valon,” Rick smiled and hugged the king as though he were a favored uncle, “It’s been awhile old man.”
The two conversed for a moment about what the other had been up to. Valon was impressed with how his godson had risen up to a seat of power in such a short amount of time. Rick on the other hand was happy to hear that the Queens pregnancy was going well.
“It’s a wonderful city you have here.” Valon said looking around. “Mind showing me around.”
Rick mockingly bowed his head as low as he could, “Why of course your highness.” He paused, “Though I do have a council meeting I’m already late for, but if you show up with me I’m sure it’ll keep me from being chastised.”
“Then lead the way,” Valon commanded with a chuckle.
The two started off towards the main plaza. Rick pointed out a few things as they passed though eventually he grew bored of playing tour guide.
“So,” He said, “Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl yet?”

<It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance Eragon.> Sly said after the new arrival had introduced himself, <I hope you don’t mind but I’d like to have a private word with Jonas and Terrian in the kitchen. If you’d like, Eragon, you may sit and watch television with Merlin. He’s the small fellow with the funny hat.>
Sly nodded his head slightly and trotted into the kitchen. Merlin glared at the andalite before plopping back down on the sofa. Jonas and Terrian were still standing by the door.
Jonas looked curiously at Terrian, “Ya got any clue what he wants ta talk ta us about?”
OOC- Feels shoddy but it’ll have to do. Anyone who still wants to join can. Any one who wants out can go. It’s still early morning, around 8:30 a.m. in Shin-Ra and about 8:30 p.m. in Cherry grove.

Terrian shrugged to Jonas. "I'm pretty sure he can already tell it was you who knocked over that vase the other day. Must be something else."
They followed Sly into the kitchen, a room which, perhaps more than any other in the house, summed up the relationship between its tenants. Sly's sterile hand could be seen in the underlying design of the room, with its trim, glossy countertops and high-tech appliances; however, his son Rick had clearly done his best to make the room look lived-in with some healthy clutter. Various packages of food, some unopened and some nearly depleted, were strewn about the counter and table, and the stainless silver sink was piled with dishes yet to be rinsed. Though the guests would wake up once every few days to find the kitchen flawlessly clean again, they never heard Sly reprimand Rick for his messes. Terrian imagined that Sly might appreciate his son's behavior in a backhanded kind of way.
Terrian looked up at the Andalite. "Anything we can do for you?"
OOC: Some location autoing here, but since I had almost nothing else to post, I decided to go in for a little description of the kitchen. I hope Bulbs doesn't mind. Also it occurs to me I've only assumed Rick stays at Chez Sly regularly enough for my description to work.

OOC: Yeah that works actually. Since Rick can travel instantly between shadows he bounces back and forth between Sly’s and Mia’s. Though this is about to change.
BIC:
Sly was already gathering up cooking supplies when the two entered. They sat down quietly at the table and waited. Once the andalite had a few things cooking on the stove he returned his focus to his guests.
<There is a total of four bedrooms in this house. Rick, Merlin, and I each have a room and Jonas has been using our guest room while he looks for a permanent place to live. However, Rick has recently been inducted into the mage government and has decided to move to Shin-Ra. I would like to offer the both of you permanent residence in my home.>
As he spoke Sly used his tail-blade to stir some of the food, <Now this offer is not completely free. Jonas, in your case I would hire you as an assistant. I might occasionally ask you to pick up or deliver packages for me, and on some occasions have you help me in the Lab. Terrian on the other hand will be slightly different, I know Terrian is already employed so I will not offer him a job. Instead he would just have to allow me to run tests on him now and then. You would not be a lab rat in a cage though. Both of you could come and go as you please and if you needed anything you would just need to ask me.>
Sly grabbed a few items from the fridge and began combining them into a bowl. <If you have any questions, feel free to ask them now.>

BIC: Julia felt like throwing up. The taxi was driving over a road, if it could be called that, that had clearly been rushed by human hands. The car shook violently, and Julia was not happy about it.The forest rushing by was probably something to be appreciated and enjoyed, but she couldn't. She had tried opening her windows, but the humid rain forest air did nothing to alleviate the discomfort. She had then moved to the middle seat so she could fix her eyes on the road ahead. After all, motion sickness was just a discrepancy between the internal balancing fluids in the ears and the scenery captured by the eyes. It almost helped. But maybe it was time for plan B.
She took out her cell phone and brought up a voice memo. She held the device to her ear.
"1. 2. 3," her own voice said in a clear, soothing tone. Julia quickly adjusted the speed of the playback to match the rhythm of her breathing.
"4. 5. Relax. 6. 7. 8." She leaned her head back, following her own suggestion.
"9. You can feel the nausea lifting from your body and mind. 10. 11. 12. You do not want to listen to anyone's suggestions but your own right now. 13. 14." Her eyes began to flutter shut.
"15. 16. 17. You are now in a deep state of hypnosis. When you feel like waking, you will be able to do so effortlessly and at a whim. You will immediately be awake and alert again whenever you so choose."
It had worked, just like every other time. Julia was in a half trance state, not bothered by car sickness anymore. She would eventually become fully alert, most likely when she stumbled out of the door. Currently, though, she was lazily watching the flora whiz by.
An hour or so of bumpy driving later, the road began to smooth out. The trees began to thin out, it seemed more like a natural clearing than an artificial one. Julia lazily took note of the change and decided that they were getting close.
She woke up. Her eyelids opened. Her back straightened. Her pupils readjusted. She felt like she had taken one of the greatest naps in her life.
Julia looked straight ahead again. Ahead of her a grand stone archway stood. It didn't look particularly "magical" save for its size. Otherwise it was like most weatherworn ruins. The gateway grew larger, and eventually the driver came to a stop outside it. He turned around and looked at Julia.
"I am not, uh," the driver paused, searching for the right English word, "allowed?"
Julia nodded and smiled, indicating that the man was speaking correctly. He smiled back and continued. "I am not allowed into this place. You have to." He paused again and held his hand up, his index and middle finger pointing down and wiggling.
"I have to walk in myself?" Julia asked.
"Yes!"
"Ok. Here is the fare." Julia handed the man the money, insisting that he keep the change, and got out of the car. She slung her backpack over her shoulder and proceeded to the archway.
If she hadn't hypnotized herself, she would still be tired from the long flight. Red eyes were the worst. But as it was, she was fairly refreshed, at least mentally. Due to the flying arrangements, it was midmorning when she walked through the gates.
"Excuse me, madam," a man said. He was dressed in simple red robes. Behind him were two others, similarly dressed. "We will need to search your belongings and your mind for any ill intent."
"I'm sorry? This wasn't in the brochure."
"Excuse our actions, but this city has a history of being attacked. I'm sure you remember events such as the witch burnings?" the man said gravely.
"I understand," Julia replied. She took off her bag and handed it to the man.
"We promise this will be completely non-invasive," he said, taking the bag. "No need to take off your jacket, madam," he said, catching Julia with one sleeve off already.
One of the mages held his hands over the backpack and closed his eyes. He nodded after a few seconds of concentration. The man who had stopped Julia walked up to her and held his hands a few inches from her forhead. He closed his eyes. Julia could swear her brain was tingling.
"There is something strange about your mind. As if someone had restructured it," the mage said, more curious than worried.
"Magic and psionics aren't the only thing that can change the human mind. Sometimes all it takes is some words and a coin." Julia smiled.
"I see. A hypnotist then? Such a strange art. Well, you are free to go. Enjoy your stay." He handed the woman her backpack.
"Thank you." She took her bag and put it on. "Before I go, is there somewhere that I can stay for the night? Like a hotel or something?"
"Yes, madam. Several of the larger ruins have been converted to housing for the festival. That building, that building, and that building," the mage pointed to three distinct, large buildings, "are the main ones."
"Thanks again." Julia smiled and began walking to the second nearest building that was pointed out.

“A girl,” Valon said with a smile in his voice. “ and we have been discussing names for the last few weeks. I've been thinking something traditional, well, as traditional as Aldra-Sa names get, but we're not sure just yet.”
Valon and Rick mingled through the crowds of tourists and mages alike as they discussed different names that would be suiting of a crown princess of Drakengrad. As the morning wore on the thickness of the crowds grew and even among the throngs of people Valon stood out. His stature was among the largest in the city and his clothing didn't help matters, but the presence that the King of Dragons possessed was the thing that caught the most attention. The regal appearance and manner of Valon seemed to but people a bit on edge, but at the same time they felt safe around him.
“So, once my little princess is born there's going to be a massive celebration in Drakengrad. Parade, music, feasts, the works. I would be honored if you could come and celebrate with us.” Valon added casually as a merchant rushed up to him, knowing that Valon would have money.
“My, my, what fancy dressing you have sire. Could I interest you in my wares? Silk sashes, shirts, belts, and more than that. I could even make you some beautiful clothing if you so wished. Perhaps you would like to look for yourself.” the man suggested as he produced a bag from behind his back and opened it before the King.
Valon peered into the bag and was taken aback firstly by the sheer depth of the bag and secondly by the items inside. Within the bowels of the simple bag lay clothing of all types, along with statues made of granite, slate, pewter, and onyx. Among the massed items sat a simple plush fox which Valon plucked from the bag and slipped under his arm. With his other hand, Valon quickly created a pair of shining golden coins and handed them off to the merchant. With an awe struck look on his face the merchant disappeared into the crowd once again.
“I certainly hope that she likes this. I think it's rather cute.” Valon said to Rick as he created a small portal around the plush and sent it back to the waiting room of his soon to be daughter.
OOC- Not really as long as I would have liked, but it works.

"So the crowns of Kalar and Drakengrad will become one with this kid, right?" Nadeshi Maeltios, second in line to the throne of Kalar, and brother of Opilia, its current queen. He was combing his unruly purple hair, which he kept trimmed at around chin length. Opilia, already clad in a stunning dress made of irridescent dragon scales and golden bracelets encrusted with sapphires, helped him straighten the blue sash around his waist. No one needed a closer look to see that she was well along in her pregnancy.
"That is indeed the case. How are things with Marina, by the way?"
Nadeshi gazed into the mirror with his striking yellow dragon eyes. "Marina? We divorced. It seemed like we just never had an interest in each other. So we mutually decided to end things. Ehhhh." The dark green robe he wore was embroidered with a galaxy of jewels in assortments of colors, and the golden thread weaved into patterns of dragons, flowers, and tree branches. "It's a shame though, I really thought it was going to work." He put the comb down once his hair was neat and presentable, and turned around.
"The mage festival sounds like it's going to be fun." Sitting on the bed behind him was Hector, in a sleeveless crimson robe adorned with gold and a golden headdress lined with shimmering phoenix feathers. In his arms he held a small child with fluffy black hair and eyes as amber as her father's. "It's too bad Vathale is away on business. She would have really enjoyed it."
"What kind of business may I ask?" Nadeshi cocked his head to the side.
"Just training. She said she was tired of being my damsel in distress." He laughed and held Pleiades tightly to his body and kissed her head gingerly. "Which dragon are we taking today from your precious fleet, your royal highness?"
"Thought we'd take Aurui for this occasion." Opilia finished applying makeup and led everyone to the Maeltios family mansion's vast courtyard, where the family's most beloved dragons roam around. She motioned towards a golden spendor of a dragon, as tall as a house and twice as long. Its three horns seemed to be chiseled out of pure diamond, and its snout was prominent. As it paced towards them, Hector and Pleiades gaped in awe of the rainbow hidden beneath its powerful wings.
"Well then, let's get on." Opilia mounted the dragon first, followed by Nadeshi, and then Hector, carrying Pleiades in a sling around his shoulders, letting her rest in one arm while he secured himself to the dragon with the other. Emitting a beastly roar before taking to the skies, Aurui flexed its wings and was headed towards South America with the speed of a jet plane.
OOC: Someone go ahead and auto them getting there, I think it's easier that way :/

Rick laughed, “You truly are an eccentric man.”
The two laughed as they entered the central square, a large open field with a modest stone temple at its center. Usually the field was used for academic purposes and occasional sparring, but today it was filled with booths and tents with a large stage erected in front of the temple. A few people were already milling about and browsing the wares even though the festival wouldn’t officially start for another hour.
“Alright,” Rick said as Valon and he walked up the steps of the temple, “Shin-Ra’s government is primarily made of one-hundred men and women called Elders. Over them is the Council of Twelve. The Council meets monthly and discusses a wide variety of issues and concerns. The Elders however only meet every six months and discuss any concerns or ideas. At the end of their meetings they elect an Elder to present their views to the Council.”
Rick paused for amount to speak with the guards at the entrance to the temple. They nodded and allowed the two to enter. The inside of the temple was obviously enchanted; the interior walls were straight instead of slopping inward and the ceiling was much higher than the building. There were shelves crammed with books everywhere and the overall appearance was similar to that of a very old library.
“The guards are only stationed outside when the Council meets, otherwise it’s open to anyone who wishes to come and study,” Rick informed Valon as he lead him to an open staircase. “Alright, the leader of Shin-Ra sits in the first seat of the council. He really has no formal title and people just call him the First. I’m the second seat, which is basically the commander of all combat forces. Third seat is Mia; she acts as the advisor to the first and also handles all the foreign relations and matters. The Fourth seat is in charge of all magical research and artifacts. The elected Elder I mentioned earlier sits in the Fifth seat. The Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth seats all answer to me. They represent the offensive portion of the army, the defensive and healing portion, the city guard, and special squads respectively. The Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth seats all answer to Mia. The Tenth seat runs the education system. Eleventh seat is a glorified treasurer and Twelfth seat is the history keeper.”
Rick took a breath, “Most of that won’t matter though. You’ll probably just talk to the first three seats. Alright, lets make an entrance.”
Valon and Rick entered the second floor, which was filled with more shelves but also had a long marble table. Ten very importantly dressed men and women sat waiting most looked rather bored.
“Rick!” The man at the head of the table stood, “Finally, though it seems you brought a guest… where is Mia?”
“She, unfortunately, was up very late making sure everything was running smoothly but said she’ll join us for the formal ceremony an hour from now.” Rick turned slightly and placed a hand on Valon’s shoulder, “This big guy is an old friend of the family and pretty much an uncle to me. His name is Valon, King of Drakengrad.”
Upon hearing Valon’s introduction several of the council members straightened up and tried to look dignified.
“King Lorsha!” the man at the head of the table approached Valon with an outstretched hand, “It’s a pleasure to meet you at last. I’m Tor Ferallas, the First of Shin-Ra.”

"Yoshimitsu, it's a pleasure," Yoshimitsu said, gripping Sarosin's hand firmly before letting go. "And I'm not sure where here is, exactly. I have a few contacts that can get me places, so I called one up and here I am. As for coffee... well, I dunno but I'd kill for a brew too."
Yoshimitsu took a deep drag of his cigarette and looked around. For once, he felt fairly normal. His attire was easily more casual for most of humanity than the majority of everyone else attending the festival. In fact, Sarosin was the only other person he could immediately see who was dressed in casual attire. As he looked around, his eyes fell on someone who was clad entirely in black. The black-clad individual was sat in the shade, his clothes even darker than the small relief from the sun surrounding him. There was something about this one, Yoshimitsu could tell already.
However, he shrugged and looked away. He didn't know this person, so there was no point in staring. Switching his attention back to Sarosin, he took a deep drag and started speaking again.
"Bit overwhelming, I reckon. Wouldn't be caught dead wearing some of those clothes, but hey, personal preference I guess," he said, smiling slightly. "But guess I should have expected that much at a mage festival."

Terrian paused, then added, "No incisions though."

OOC- K, so some stuff – The Pokémon Isles (or is it the Poké Isles?) are somewhere off the cost of Japan and Shin-Ra is in South America. So it is physically impossible for it to be morning at both places. I can’t remember if I had already fixed this but if not here are the times - It is right around 9 am in Shin-Ra and the festival begins at 10 am. In Whelkshore it’s about 6 pm and Sly is now fixing dinner.
BIC- “Rick,” Tor turned to face the young mage, “if you would address the council for me I’d like to take a moment to speak with King Lorsha. It needn’t be fancy, just explain our itinerary and then adjourn.”
Rick nodded and took his place at the table, a few eyes watched him uneasily but for the most part they seemed to accept him and his new found authority over them. The mage wasn’t nervous, he had no trouble talking, but this was different. He was a dignitary now and had to act like it, in action and speech.
“Well, I- ugh,” Rick cough and cleared his throat, “As most of you know I was recently voted to fill the empty council seat. As the new Second I will follow and uphold all the ideals of our people as well as not bring shame to this council. It is with much humil-”
“Boy,” the Fifth interrupted him, “You’re too young to be acting like the rest of us old farts. Even Mia acts casually around the council, this is your first meeting but we speak clearly and plainly. Just say what Tor asked you to say and end the meeting, I’d like to get out of this stuffy building and go look at all the pretty young foreign girls.”
A few council members chuckled and even Rick found himself smiling, “Alright, well, today is our free-day. The only thing we have to do is appear at the opening ceremony in an hour, after that we get to enjoy all the shows and booths. Tomorrow, and every day of the festival after that, we will be seeing envoy’s from various races. Even some of the non-magical governments like the U.S. and China have sent representatives. So enjoy today because tomorrow on is going to be hell.”
The various council members nodded in agreement and began to disperse as Rick called the short meeting to an end. Over in their corner, Tor and Valon watched the young mage.
“He’s a curiosity, that boy.” Tor said, “Stronger than any mage I’ve ever seen. A few council members are scared of him, not just because he’s powerful, but because they fear he may intend to seek revenge on the people of Shin-Ra for the actions of certain elements within our government.”
“Rick knows those elements acted in secret, and against the will of your council,” Valon argued in his defense, “If he sought to harm you, or your people, he would not have worked so hard to gain the city’s favor.”
“Yes, and you do know him better than I. Still, Shin-Ra cast his people out long ago because we feared them. That fear led to blood-shed and now Rick is the lone survivor. There are still other mages, but he is alone among them.”
“No,” Valon disagreed, “Rick is never alone. The boy has friends and family. He may be the last of his people but he is never alone.”
“That’s another point. His father is not mage, nor is he even human.”
“Sly is also one of the few people I would trust with my life.”
Tor titled his head and studied Valon’s face as though he were looking for some sign of weakness, “Good, then I have made my final decision.”
“Oh?”
“Shin-Ra is not a big city,” Tor’s entire demeanor seemed to shift; he was more relaxed, more casual, “We’ve long used magic to force the buildings to hold more than they were capable of. It’s also time we stopped hiding here in the jungles of South America. Shin-Ra will remain our capital, but two new cities shall be constructed. One, if you allow us, I wish to have built within the borders of your royal holdings. I’m not sure where we will build the second, but both will need leaders. The council will have to be restructured, but I hope to place Rick as head of one of those cities.”
“I would have to know more about your intentions before I would allow any plans to be carried out.”
“And you shall your Highness.” Tor said this with a respectful nod, “If you wish, you are invited to attend our meetings tomorrow and onward as a neutral party, a mediator.”
A majority of the council members had left, allowing Rick the chance to break away from them and join the two leaders.
“So sirs,” Rick said as he approached, “are we up for some breakfast before the opening ceremony?”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
<Delightful!> Sly said as he leaned over the stove, <Jonas your first job shall be to inform Merlin that he is to extend an invitation to Rie and, if he has to, drag her back kicking and screaming. The poor girl needs some merriment; in fact all of us could use some as well. Terrian, if you wish you may do a preliminary look over of the room you will be residing in - up the stairs and the last door on the right, across from the bathroom. If you find it unsuitable, just tell me and I will have it altered to fit your specifications.>
Zebedee, Sly thought, not through thought-speech, but by accessing the link Zebedee and he shared, Natalie and yourself should come over for dinner before we depart for the festival. If she protests tell her I will persuade her if I am forced to and she doesn’t want that.
“No!” Merlin shouted from the living room.
“Bu’ Sly said-”
“I don’t give a damn what that blue deer said!”
Merlin stormed into the kitchen, “Why don’t you go get Rie?!”
<Because I am incapable of magic, should she decide not to attend then someone who can work around her phasing would be better suited.>
“… You want me to kidnap her?”
<She hasn’t left Zebedee’s guest house since Ender’s premature death. You know first hand what it’s like to suddenly find yourself alone Merlin.>
“Fine, I’ll go, but you owe me.” he grabbed the edge of his pointed hat and pulled it down hard. In one swift movement the brim went from his brow down to the floor, completely engulfing Merlin before shrinking out of existence.
If Sly had a mouth he would have smiled, it almost felt like old times again.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Merlin popped back into existence in front of the guest house. He straitened his hat and smoothed out his robe, making sure it covered all his bandages. With a lack of enthusiasm, he knocked on the door.
“Hey Rie, are you in there? If you don’t mind me coming in, just throw something at the door…”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ally sat on the roof of an inn called the Hungry Mage. She had eaten her fill and, when no one was looking, slipped up into the attic and out the window. It was easier to ditch without paying when you didn’t immediately go for the front or back doors.Make your own paths George had told her. Despite her successful retreat she wasn’t happy.
Every fiber in her body ached with hate for the mages below her. Well it wasn’t them she hated, not directly anyways. Rick was the unfortunate vessel of her hate, having been rejected by him years ago. Had that been the first push towards her new life? Everything that had happened since that day had led her to a future she had never expected to find. Was Rick the demon who had shoved her down that road or the angel that guided her in the right direction? Whatever purpose he had played in her life, she still hated him just the same.
She sighed, for now she couldn’t act upon her hate. Her current contract forbade revealing herself, she was only permitted to watch and observe Tor Ferallas. Whoever this client was, he seemed interested in the politics of Shin-Ra. Whether or not she could use this to her benefit was still unclear.
OOC: Zeb and Nat obviously. Would Thyra work in here? And I would love to see Miko in as well. Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!
Anyways, seem good?
Oh and Pohatu I will PM you an idea of how the house is laid out.

Without so much as opening her eyes, Rie reached into the couch and pulled out a small throwing knife. She flicked it behind her, and it sank a good inch into the door, producing a nice thunk sound. To make sure the man outside understood, Rie groaned loudly. ---- Julia looked around the cheap room she had rented. It was surprisingly well furnished considering how little she had paid. It also seemed rather spacious. Too spacious. Is this room bigger inside than outside? No... that can't be right... then again, these are mages. Following that train of thought, she supposed it would be fairly easy to create the ornate wooden furniture in the room using magic. She would have to investigate later. The woman dropped her backpack at the foot of her bed and drew the curtains. Opening ceremonies wouldn't begin for a while, so Julia decided it was time for some white noise and a shower. She opened the wardrobe to turn on the television and was thoroughly unsurprised to find that there was no set. OOC: Arg, my mom wants me to do her errands, so this post is unfinished. Right before I got to the shower scene.

Merlin inspected the small lump that had appeared on his side of the door. With a sigh he opened the door slightly, making sure to keep it between Rie and himself. “Do you want to come to the festival with us?” Merlin peaked his head through the gap, “You might as well- Sly said that if your answer was no I was to bring you anyways. Sometimes I really hate that centaur…” OOC: …. Anyone…. Anyone at all
