The two young men stood opposite eachother, a squarely built fellow with a belled belt standing directly between them.
He glanced to each one, meeting their gaze, and then bent down, picking up an abraded old bell.
"Set Pokemon, One party member only," The man's voice had a sort of reverse lilt to it, occasionally dipping lower with certain words.
"No delaying commands, no interfering in other battles. Both of you must have your Pokemon out before the bell rings-" He did another left-right glance, like he was about to cross a busy street. His voice dipped again.
"As of the ringing of said bell, first trainer to give an order gets first attack."
The man took hold of the clapper, and as he backed away, gave it a solid shake.
CLANG!

Val crouched on the ground and pulled out a camo-themed pokeball. He lightly tapped the orb and in an explosion of light Daya, the Flaaffy, appeared with a shower of sparks. Val scratched Daya behind the ear for a moment and then stood up. Daya pranced out onto the field of battle and waited for orders and an opponent.
"Daya, go ahead and use Magnet Rise and wait for orders." Val said calmly.
Daya's wool began to spark and slowly, but surely began to rise into the air. She came to rest six inches above the ground and took up a relaxed battle stance. Daya was tough and very smart, but not all battles are won in the mind. Val let no emotion show on his face. To allow an opponent to see your emotions was to give away your plans. Crossing his arms, Val resigned to wait.
"Stay on guard Daya, this may get hairy."

Akio stepped onto the field, sweating, nervous, full of anticipation. "My Name is Akio, it's a pleasure to meet you, Daya." Akio stated, his nerves clearly being shown by his shaky voice. He observed the Flaafy appear and quickly racked his brain, remembering what the foe was weak to, "Ground Type attacks, this must be an electric type, but it seems to have already used Magnet rise, eliminating that weakness."
Akio gripped his Pokeball, "This pokemon is older than I am, a gift from my grandfather, go, Phaedra the Lairon!" With a flash of brilliant light the pokemon was revealed before Akio, and his opponent. Phaedra let out a loud cry, signifying it's readiness for battle
"Let's start off strong! Head smash attack!" Akio yelled, instinctively.
Phaedra pawed at the ground kicking up dirt and charged forwards, lowering it's head, dust being picked up in the wake of it's intense velocity, surely a powerful attack.
Ako shielded his eyes, from the dust that had picked up, waiting to see what had happened on the battlefield.

TIME LIMIT WARNING: DL, YOU HAVE UNTIL THE END OF WEDNESDAY TO RESPOND, OR YOU FORFEIT THIS BATTLE.[/b][/color]
I know the timing's a bit off, but I hadn't started tracking them for time until today. Everybody else has until at least Monday night before they hit the soft limit, nevermind the three week limit.

“Daya, Iron Tail on top of the head.” Val called out to his Flaaffy.
The Lairon came charging in at full speed, but Daya was a skilled battler. With a fluid movement, Daya turned slightly and allowed her tail to gleam silver. As Pheadra came within inches of Daya, she brought her tail down hard on its head. The mace-like orb on the end of Daya’s tail smacked the Lairon on the top of its crest, whether or not it did much damage was not of any concern to Val, but the fact that the force of the blow allowed Daya to move out of the way of the brunt of the attack.
“Nice try Akio, but you’re going to need to try a different tactic. We’ve got quite a few tricks up our sleeves, Daya and I.”
OOC- Short, but I'm lazy.

DL, Kevin was wondering if he could call a time-limit victory on this one? Technically, it could go either way, since I missed declaring it when the limit was past, so I'm wanting to make sure it'd be okay with everybody.

In favor of him, since there was that big gap in time where I forgot to call a win for him.

So what are we going to do with this?

OOC: Kevin, you get to write some auto-win attack now, I guess. Either an OHKO (Fissure?) or a ringout would make the most sense, since it's only two or three moves into the fight.

A flash of genius crossed the young trainers mind. Reacting quickly he yelled out to his partner, "Quickly! While the attack connects counter it with Metal Burst! Send the opponent flying!" Akio hoped that Phaedra could hear him in the midst of the headsmash attack and attacking opponent.
Phaedra reacted. YES! As the hardened caudal appendage slapped the pokemon on the crest of the head a white light began to emanate from the body of steel type pokemon. Phaedra taking the gathered the energy of the attack formed it into a ball of light within its chops. Taking that gathered energy its head reared backwards and it shot the concentrated attack directly at the Flaafy, causing it to fly backwards outside of the ring.
Akio had to uncover his eyes from the attack and looked around to see the results of what had just transpired within the blinding attack. Flaafy was outside of the ring, and Phaedra was holding its ground... but it appears that he had... won! Yes! Akio had pulled it off, pulling an extremely lucky win out of a hat, overjoyed he bellowed out to his partner, "That was great! We get to move on to the next round!"
Phaedra reacted pleasantly puffing its chest out in pride and looking at Akio expecting reward for the job well done. Akio reacted accordingly giving the Lairon a pat on the head and returning it to its pokeball. "Thank-you Daya for battling me, lets do it again sometime, yes?" with that Akio left the arena and awaited for his next opponent to be named.
