The sun rose over the hills and the light stretched across the fields and plains of the feudal town of Nikko one of the most beautiful regions of Japan. The light hit a hut like structure and a beam of light burst into a window of mercenary samurai warrior. The woman opened her beautiful amber eyes and let out a restful yawn. She sat up and ran her thin feminine fingers through her long thick black hair. Most of her breasts and mid-drift were wrapped in tight bandages from previous wounds which have not fully healed yet.
The woman held out her forearm and said the name “Kaida!” a beautiful golden colored hawk soared through the window and gently perched on the woman’s arms. She stroked the birds back rubbing her fingers down its soft feathers. Kaida let out a small sound of gratitude as she was being relaxed by its master. “Kaida, we have a mission today. Today we are to travel Japan and find the Black Samurai.” Kaida looked at the woman with its deep black eyes and let out a low screech of approval. “Quiet Kaida… we set out soon” The woman said in a soft voice soothing the bird. She set Kaida down on her windowsill and let her rest before the traveling.
The woman looked down and noticed that her bandages were in desperate need of being changed. She slowly began to un-wrap her bandages and revealed her breasts and mid-drift. A long gash stretched from the middle of her bosoms down in a diagonal across the top right of her belly button. Trickles of blood ran slowly down her milky white skin They are healing nicely she thought to her-self privately. She wrapped her wounds once again and now she was wrapped tightly and nice and clean. She grabbed her sword, it had the structure of the imperial samurai and it was named Amarante or in English “the flower that never fades.” The hilt had a convoluted cherry blossom design upwards. It had two pink ribbons flowing elegantly from the handle of the sword.
“Its almost time…”

OOC - I have a few character ideas which have been dying to emerge onto the screen for some time now, and this is one of them. Two of them. Two... One pair of them. A writeup for these guys has been posted in the bio topic. All of a sudden, the paper door blew inward and landed on the floor. Standing where the door had been was a young boy with a broad grin and wild hair. He was wearing a zoot suit covered all over in patches of different colors and fabrics. "Hi!" he said. After that a most odd thing occurred. His shadow, which had hitherto been mirroring his posture precisely, crossed its arms in frustration and looked away. "That isn't a widely accepted form of knocking. If you please." The shadow raised its hand upward, and simultaneously the door was lifted back up and into place. The boy and his shadow were once again out of sight, although their conversation could be heard through the open window. "I was being dramactatical." "You caused property damage. What have I told you about causing property damage?" "But it's not like it's a big old porcelainian tower or anything. It's just just. And you putted it back, didn't you?" "That's not the point. You know it isn't. Now, do I need to remind you how to knock on a door?" "Of course not! I remember. One. Curl hand into fist. Two. Apply fist to door--" "Gently!""I know, I know." The wooden door frame rattled slightly. Before the young woman had a chance to react, the boy spoke up again, still from outside the door. "Hi! I'm Rhometer. This is Higgledy Piggledy. We comed 'cuz we getted bored and we could tell you were being all adventurey. We'd like to--" "You might find it helps if you wait for her to open the door before talking." "Oh." There was an expectant silence.

OOC: I think Rhometer is my new favorite person. Like ever. In other news, I feel like finally introducing my new character... even though I haven't finished developing her in my mind...
BIC: In the general vicinity of "up" relative to Rhometer and HP, a something made that annoyingly cute giggle that little girls tend to make. To the casual observer, that something happened to be the shadow of a nearby hut's weathervane, the rooster shaped silhouette painted long on the thatched roof by the rising morning sun.
The rooster silhouette suddenly began to move around, and swirled down onto the wall of the hut. Once the shadow melded into the shape of a human, the first thing to appear was a cheshire cat smile. The shadow again zipped off, this time into the ground, stopping next to Higgledy Piggledy.
"You're funny," she said, leaning in close to HP's ear, her feet 'standing' on the wall of the hut. Suddenly, she was standing next to Rhometer, in the same bent over pose, appearing to whisper something into the sprite's ear. "You too."
She giggled again.
The girl appeared to be no more than 12, though despite her age, her left arm was so covered in complex tattoos that from a distance, one wouldn't be able to tell that her left sleeve was torn off. She wore a mostly-black dress with light blue designs, and it seemed to flow around on its own accord despite the lack of any breeze. In fact, the bottom of the dress almost seemed to blend in with the shadow it created.
She was smiling brightly at Rhometer, as if appearing next to someone and creepily telling them that they were funny was the normalest thing in the world.

OOC - ...I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
"Oh hi! I'm Rhometer. This is Higgledy Piggledy. We comed 'cuz we getted bored and we could tell you were being all adventurey. We'd like to--"
"This isn't the person from inside the house."
"Okay."
Higgledy Piggledy gazed up at his companion with a resigned frown -- not that Rhometer would actually be able to see the frown, of course, although perhaps this newcomer understood the nuances of shadow facial movement.
"That means you've never seen her before."
"Oh."
"So tell her hello."
"Hello."
It was clear this train of thought was not going to take Rhometer all the way to the next station. Higgledy Piggledy decided to intervene. "Madame, this one is Rhometer. I am Higgledy Piggledy. We have come in search of an adventure, which we believe the lady inside this house is about to undertake. May we ask your name?"

"Oh! I love adventures!" For no apparent reason, the girl spun around peppily. Her dress, still seeming to meld with her shadow, made it look like she was floating over the ground. She did notice HP frown, but preferred not to be put down by depressing shadows.
"My name is Jennavieve. Most of my friends just call me Vieve, because it's shorter and one syllable and stuff. Either that or Jenna, but I don't think Jenna does justice to a cool name like mine, donchathink? Now who is in there?"
Vieve turned towards the door and walked towards it, seeming to hover gracefully like an ice skater skating on... ice, and knocked on the door.

"I must admit, I'm usually not party to violations of the laws of physics." A short girl, mayhaps five feet tall (being a generous estimation), had appeared. Evidently drawn by the commotion and bizarre occurences, she had a smug look on her cherubic face. She bore a large metal case slung over her shoulder, her hands concealed almost entirely by her long sleeves. The parts of her hands that were visible revealed grey gloves, evidently also too large on her small figure. Her jeans followed suit. The only part of her outfit that looked appropriately sized was a verdant green newsboy cap, slung askew over a jaw-length head of raspberry red hair.
She half-waved in a welcoming manner towards the three assembled outside the door. "I certainly must say that I'm experiencing deja vu. Mayhaps I could contribute a bar of soap, lest your umbra gets unruley?" Her smile revealed a set of teeth that seemed slightly sharper than that of the average person.

The samurai woman looked up and slipped a robe on to conceal most of her naked body. She quickly grabbed Amarante and had Kaida perch on her shoulder. She walked to the door and opened it quickly in reaction to all the commotion.
Stepping out in to the daylight they could see the beautiful samurai warrior. Her appearence seemed to be flawless besides the bandages which seemed to cover an almost fatal wound. She had milky white skin, exceptional breasts and a beautiful face with long wild black hair which reached down (when tied into a pony tail from the back top of her head) to her mid-back. "Excuse me" she said in a strong powerful voice "But I am leaving soon, so I would like to know the reason for your presence?" She looked up and stared slightly into each of there eyes.

The girl turned towards the warrior, her grey eyes carrying in them the same tone as a breeze in the midst of a spring thaw.
"I guess you could say that I'm window shopping. I've been in dire need of some amusement in recent times, and between the carnival on your doorstep, and the sound of some manner of raptor in your habitance, I naturally assumed some manner of quest to be in order."

The woman was confused on how much attention was suddenly brought upon her little shack in the hills of Japan. "Alright" she said smiling "My name is Masumi"
Masumi invited them inside "Please excuse me while I prepare myself for company, this is sudden so I did not have time to dress" She walked into a seperate part of the hut and she returned with in a half an hour. Her hair was pinned and she was wearing a beautiful red kimono with yellow bird like designs. She presented tea to her visitors and sat down and sipped her own tea slowly.
Masumi cleared her throat slightly and looked up and looked into there eyes each seperately "There is a feared samurai warrior said to be planning a raid against the Lord of the Nikko village and the surrounding areas which the lord controls, and then eventually Japan as a whole. I have been told to hunt down and assassinate this supposed dreaded samurai." She smiled out of frustration "The only problem is, no one knows if he exists, so today I was going to set out and travel to different sections of Japan in search of information" Masumi sipped her tea slowly again "I have one lead, he/she smells of blood from a thousand battles, and wears armor as black as the darkest nights."
Masumi finished her tea and looked at the sudden visitors "It is not a short journey, we will be traveling together for a while, so... do you still want to go?" Kaida shifted slightly on Masumi's shoulder. She brought Amarante and laid it down on the floor in front of her, the ribbons wrapped around the scabbard.

Rhometer had spent the last half hour playing with a rubber band he had conjured out of nowhere. Now he snapped to attention just as the rubber band snapped at one end. "I'll come, I'll come! Listen. I can make us a big flyinging train. I did that one time. Maked a train I mean. In some other girl's house. And the whhooooole traaaaaain fitted inside the girl's house excepting for the part that didn't. And then I couldn't really find the house any more or the girl either so, yeah? Train?"
"You will not make a flying train," said Higgledy Piggledy. "The lady has, I'm sure, means conventional or otherwise by which we will travel Japan."
"I want a train, Hig!"
"If you make the train I will shrink it to such tiny size you won't be able to hold it between your fingers."
Rhometer crossed his arms in frustration and stared up at the ceiling.
"But that's so easy," he whined under his breath.

"Well, that half hour passed us by almost as if inconvenient lapses in action spontaneously departed from our consciousness." The girl said, playing with a few ball bearings that she had produced from her pocket.
"Name's Achenes. I'd be glad to pitch in for a while."

"If you don't mind I would like to join you as well Ms. Masumi." At the door stood a fairly scrawny man dressed in torn blue jeans and a white torn button up shirt with the forth button missing.
"I don't mean to intrude but someone told me that you had something to teach me, Ms. Masumi." The man took two steps forward and bowed to each person individually.
"Oh, I apologize!!! How rude of me not to introduce myself. My name is Loken." Loken stood in fear hoping that the women would help him. He still didn't understand what he was doing there. Last he remembered he was at the Humanus Tournament at some department store and next thing he knows he is in feudal Japan with a note telling him to find a samurai woman by the name of Masumi. Still he knew he had to get strong and somehow this women was supposed to help him get one step closer to saving his son and getting his revenge.
Loken was still unaware of his new alter ego Britcale but the time was inevitable when Britcale would soon emerge again.

Vieve was sitting on the edge of one of Masumi's chairs, hands underneath her thighs to hold her feet a few inches above the ground. For the past 30 minutes she had been rocking her legs back and forth (though no one could see it under her dark dress), waiting for something to happen. At the mention of the word "journey", she perked up again.
"Journeys are fun. I love travelling!" Vieve exclaimed. "Oh, by the way, my name's Jennavieve, but most people just call me Vieve because it's one syllable and stuff, and Jenna is a boring name."
She smiled at Masumi.

"I must say this all sounds rather exciting. Have you room for one more?" A voice spoke from the corner of the room where a top hat lay upside down on the floor. Nobody knew how it had got there, it certainly wasn't there when they had all arrived. A slender hand crept over the edge as the hat began to expand. A tall, slender man rose out of the top hat and stepped out on to the floor just as the hat snapped back to it's original size. The man was around six feet tall and wore a perfectly fitted tuxedo. His eyes were a dark green and his head was completely bald. The newcomer bent down and picked up his hat, he dusted it off and placed it on his head. Looking toward Masumi, the gentleman bowed slightly and pushed his hat further back on his head. As he did so it was quite apparent that he was no longer bald, his head was now covered with slick black hair which was styled immaculately. "My name is Jeremy Farnsworth, I have come to aid you in your quest. I am very honored to meet you." He said with a warm smile. He gave a nod to each of the people present before reaching in to his hat and producing a dark wooden cane. He put his hat back on his head and held the cane by it's tip in his left hand. He whipped the air with cane and in the blink of an eye it was gone, replaced by a small stool. Jeremy placed the stool down lightly on the floor and took a seat. This looked to become quite the adventure. OOC: Rusty or what? Dunno how well I'll do with this new character but I think he'll fit in nicely with this bunch.

OOC: Anyway back to the story BIC:
Masumi smiled kindly back "Okay it seems that I am going to have a team of good fighters, we will head into the city and seek more information. The taverns are always a good place to start"
"Kaida..." Masumi sad strongly and her bird took flight into the air. "She will scout the area above us, and warn us in case anything goes wrong. Don't worry it is a safety measure." Masumi took off her dress and revealed a sort of traveling womans samurai clothing which fit her more comfortably. "Always be prepared, I was wearing it underneath my kimono." She grabbed amarante and headed out the door with the rest of her friends.
They soon arrived into the town and it was bustling with activity. Masumi turned and stopped her friends "We will split up, meet me here in an hour and we will share any information that we have gathered..." and in a blink of an eye Masumi melded into the crowded streets of Nikko.

"I dunno about the taverns. They tend not to like me in those places... Kinda. Thugs and I? Well, we tend to catalyze negative reactions, so to speak." Achenes adjusted her hat, ran her fingers through her hair, and looked in a mirror before heading out the door. She slung her case over her shoulder, and followed Masumi.
As they reached town, Achenes cracked a small grin. Splitting up? She certainly didn't mind that.
"I hope she doesn't have any moral objections to me wailing on some lowlifes to dig up information. Y'know, just incase she believes in only attacking with provocation or such. Otherwise, the crime rate in this area is going to plunge pretty steeply." Achenes said, shifting the weight of the case on her shoulder.

"I know a llooott of things!" Rhometer happily chanted.
"Koto ga takusan shitte imasu," Higgledy Piggledy said, before he could stop himself. He'd been trailing dutifully behind Rhometer, speaking directly into Rhometer's mind and serving as an interpreter between him and the bewildered villagers he accosted. Higgledy Piggledy was used to aiding Rhometer in this capacity; he was well-versed in a great many tongues. After all, he considered language to be a reflection of order, just as he himself was. The fact that Rhometer could only speak a badly misinformed English proved that language did not fall within the chaos sprite's province.
"Let's go there, Hig!" Rhometer cried, pointing at a shop where a fisherman was selling his wares. Large, colorful fish hung on ropes that lined the building.
"The smell is ungodly," said Higgledy Piggledy. But they approached the shop nonetheless.
"Hi!" said Rhometer to the fisherman (with Higgledy Piggledy's translation).
The fisherman stared at Rhometer. "Hello," he said after a moment. "Where do you come from? I've never seen such clothing."
"I like your fish," said Rhometer, and he fixed the fisherman with a grin that would make a charging rhinoceros stop and reconsider its life plans.
"Would you like some?" the fisherman asked slowly, still unsure of how to act.
"Actually," Rhometer appeared to say (though Higgledy Piggledy was now speaking directly to the fisherman through him), "I'm interested in whether you might know anything about one called the Black Samurai."
The fisherman looked Rhometer up and down again before replying. "No," he said, "I've never heard of him."
Higgledy Piggledy now spoke to Rhometer in his mind again. "That's the fourth one who's done the exact same thing. Perhaps if you changed your appearance to look like you're from around here, people might actually be willing to talk to you?"
But Rhometer paid him no heed. He was too busy bringing one of the fish back to life.
"Little fishy fishy fish, on your scales I make a wish," he sang.
The fish flopped around on the table, gasping for breath, and then vanished with a pop.
"What?!" Rhometer cried. Then he drew himself up and addressed the fisherman.
"I am very sorry for robbing you of one fish," he said. "I'm afraid I had no choice but to return the fish to the ocean where it had been caught. I have, however, repaid you the appropriate amount."
Even before the coin dropped onto the table, Rhometer had already whirled around and was walking briskly away from the fisherman's shop. His shadow stretched long on the ground behind him.
"I hate it when you do that," he grumbled. "When you go all in my head. We should just go find the bird lady."

As soon as Masumi disappeared, Vieve started looking for a large shadow that wasn't her own. It was hard, considering that the sun was almost straight overhead. Then again, noon was when her kind were most powerful, when the shadows were darkest, and when there was light to cast defined forms.
Contrary to what would make sense, her people resented the night, especially those of the new moon. When it was darkest, Dawnchilds had to concentrate most of their power into keeping their form intact, thus at night, their power levels were around that of a human's. Being made of shadow, they seemed to unravel when darkness touched them. Their consciousness would still be around, but it was hard reassembling ones body from nothing with darkness continually pulling it apart. Of course, the unraveling could be used to one's advantage, at least during the day.
Vieve approached an umbrellaed table with a couple eating their lunch and flirting obviously. When they noticed Vieve approaching, they stared, and she smiled brightly back.
"Have any of you seen a guy called the Black Samurai?"
They both stared back at her, angry that she was disturbing them.
"Okie dokes." Vieve smiled again and stepped into the couple's umbrella shade, falling straight into the ground.
Upon coming up from the ground again, Vieve hit her head on the bottom of a merchant's cart. The cart made a visible jump, sending several beads onto the ground, and the merchant, who had been lounging around, was on his feet. He cautiously peered under the cart to find Veve lying down, rubbing her head.
"Owie. I saw that thing too..." she mumbled to herself.
"Ye alrigh', Miss?" the merchant asked. After thinking that she looked normal enough, he held out a hand, offering to help her out. Vieve took his hand, and after getting up, dusted the very visible brown dirt off her black dress.
"Damn kid, ye knocked over my stand. And how'd ye even git under there? I di'nt e'en see ye crawl in!"
Vieve acted as if the man hadn't asked anything. "Have you heard of a guy called the Black Samurai?"
"Nay, can't say that I have," the merchant replied, surprised at how easily he was brushed off.
"Oh. Sorry about hitting your cart, mister." With that, Vieve glided away, her dress still looking like it melded with her shadow on the ground.

Masumi walked down town and clutched her sword tightly. The hour was almost up, and she has had no leads at all. Then a man in rags bumped her and knocked her over. "Hey you!" she said noticing that her sword was missing.
Masumi stood up and ran quickly, chasing down the pick-pocket. Though the only thing picked was her sword. The man was fast, too fast for Masumi to catch up after such a long delay. "KAIDA!" she screemed and a loud screech from her hawk. A large shadow flew across the crowded streets and began to follow the man in brown rags. "Kaida, dive!" Masumi yelled.
Kaida did just that, it dove and began to attack the man holding the sword. Using its large talons Kaida gripped on to the shoulders of the man and took him down easily.
The man screamed in pain as blood began to poor from his shoulder. He dropped the sword, and Masumi quickly ran up and re-procured her weapon. She placed her foot on the mans throat "Why did you do that" She placed a hand on her blade "I suggest you speak!"
The man began to laugh maniacally. "You honestly think we don't now what you are doing? It is pretty stupid for you to come out here ask questions about the Black Samurai. We have spies everywhere Masumi." The man dissappeared beneath her feet and was standing in front of her, though his appearence changed drastically. He was wearing a clown outfit, poofy pants, and sleeves with lots of ruffles at the cuffs. He had a ruffled neck tie, and a mask which seemed to keep spinning making it look like his face was rotating. He had claw like gloves as weapons, and he took a fighting stance.
"Thanks, now I don't have to go looking for information, you found me." Masumi said smiling gripping the hand of her sword tightly.

OOC: He was a Japanese PIRATE. True story.
But really, I was thinking the accent of that priestess from Inuyasha, but then I fell into my default pirate accent.
BIC: Mid afternoon. Vieve's shadw was longer, but still just as dark. She pressed herself into the shadow of the side of a house, reappearing under the umbrella she used earlier. She stared at the clown for a while, then realized that Masumi had her weapon drawn. Vieve dropped back into the shade, her form disappearing, though her own shadow still appeared on the ground. It zipped over next to the clown.
"You look funny," she said, doing almost the same thing as with Rhometer earlier that day. "I don't like you."
She jumped backwards, her dress making it look like she floated, and landed next to Masumi. She squatted next to the ground and put her hand on her right hand on the tattoos on her left arm. With practiced ease, her fingers slid from symbol to symbol, weaving an intricate pattern, and leaving all that she touched glowing with what seemed to be a black aura. When she finished, she reached her right hand into her shadow and pulled up a black dagger with sky blue patterns engraved in it.
"It's not my weapon of choice, but it should do better against those clawy things," she said to Masumi, as if the woman actually cared or something.
