As a long time fan of AFI I'm always interested in hearing other peoples opinions of what I see to be a really talented and experimental band. With their new album just over 2 months away I thought I'd see who on here is a fan, and the like.
I got into them through the song "This Time Imperfect" between late 2003 and early 2004, to find that I'd heard "the boy who destroyed the world" on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, which is just an awesome song.
Since about mid 2005 I've set about myself in collecting all of their music, which has proved hard with their earlier EPs which despite being able to download, actually having a material copy proves difficult.
For me, "Sing the Sorrow" is by far my favourite album but thats partially due to its experimental nature, its a great album to listen to start to finish in my opinion, although there's actually debate in the music community on wether the leaving song part 1 and 2 should be listened to according to the track listing or actual track placement (they got switched "accidently" on some releases) but either way, definately my favourite album.
Decemberunderground is an album that really bugs me, it has a few really good tracks, but I do feel like it was a sell-out album that brought way too many people to hate the band, making it hard to have conversations about AFI with some people, especially as most people's experience of AFI is restricted to "Miss Murder" or "Love Like Winter".... Although I must say I've recently started liking "Affliction" from that album...
So anyone got any, relevant, opinions of AFI... And by that I don't wanna hear any "I've not heard enough of them to have an opinion" cause search them on youtube and theres hundreds of videos, even if you end up seeing a naruto fight scene with AFI music in the background (why do people do that! It insults AFI!) it will give you an indication of the music...
